  1. Posting with an update (sorry it's delayed; got caught up over the New Year's and all). Biometrics date is 01/09/2015. Could someone please update?

Also, a related question: My (the applicant's) passport is expired, and I don't have a state ID or driver's license (I'm a PhD student and we pretty much use the university shuttles--it's not a big city). Would this be a problem? The letter says "Naturalization applicants must bring their Alien Resident Card"--I'm happy to use that, but I'm not applying for naturalization so I don't know if I can get by with that. Apologies if this wasn't the appropriate thread to add this question.

Thanks, and wishing everyone here a fantastic 2015!

When I went on Monday to get my Biometrics, I took with me my Green card, drivers license and passport. They only saw my green card. I didn't even have to bring out the other two from my pockets. All the best

  3. Thanks for the suggestions. I went to USCIS office and talked to them. They told me to come on Feb 19th. Surprisingly, no one even cared to ask if I have an appointment. I just walked in and immediately directed to the window. The person sitting there looked at all the NoAs and told me to come on Feb 19th for the interview. She didn't even use her computer to look up my case.

  4. Hi,

I got married a few days ago and want to file my application package but I need the certified copy of our marriage license which for the LA county apparently will take 6-8 weeks to process and stamp.

Can any fellow Los Angelesians confirm this?

Should I file my application with my copy which only has the officiants stamp or should I wait for the countys stamped copy?

    Thanks!

I agree with the other reply. I got married in Sep 2nd week in LA and waited till I got the original certificate. I think its worth waiting for the originals. Meanwhile, you can start preparing other application material.

    Good luck

  5. Hello,

I have applied for Adjustment of status from F1 OPT. My wife is a US citizen. Everything went well uptill now. BUT, something weird is going on with my interview date.

I received an NoA saying my interview will be on Feb 8th and then I received NoA saying that this interview is cancelled. Then, I received another NoA saying that my interview will be on Feb 19th. Now, this interview is not cancelled but, yesterday I received another NoA saying that my interview date is on Feb 25th. This is driving me nuts. My wife attends school in the east coast and all this messy business causing lot of trouble in planning appropriately. I tried to get infopass for Los Angeles office, unfortunately there are none available.

I am wondering if I can just go there without infopass to get some clarification. Can somebody please tell me if it is OK to go without any appointment? will I be allowed in?

    Thanks

  6. Thank you milimelo for the guidance. I will try to get infopass, if I don't get one I will show up at the interview time.

Any update in your on-ilne status?

I am sorry, what do you mean by update? I received an email update about the cancellation today, are you talking about this status?

  7. Make sure you still go to the interview as scheduled. There were people who didn't go to the interview thinking it was cancelled and then received denial notice for not showing up - cancellation never made it to the IO and they expected them to come.

Thank you for the reply. But, when I called USCIS customer service, they said it is the local office which decides the time of the interview. In my case, it is local office which canceled the appointment. There is no customer service at the local office, the only way is to get a info pass, which I can't get as there is no option under which my situation falls. So, at this point I dont see any way to find more about my application.

  8. Hello November filers,

Two days ago, I received my I-797C NoA stating the date of my interview as Feb 8th at Los Angeles office. I recently moved to a new apartment, few blocks from my old one. I updated the address with USCIS on Jan 3rd. Today morning, I received an email update for USCIS which says "we sent you a notice that the interview scheduled for your I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was canceled by USCIS." What I am worried about is, they don't give any other information like "my application now will be considered under January filers?", "what is the reason for canceling the interview", and "What can be the rescheduled date" etc.

Could some one please comment about this.

    Thank you

  9. Hello,

I have applied for adjustment of status from F1. Two days ago IO received I-797C NoA stating the date of my interview as Feb 8th in Los Angeles office. Recently I moved to a new place so I changed the address. Today morning I received an email update about the case stating "we sent you a notice that the interview scheduled for your I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was canceled by USCIS."

Is this because of my address change? or can it be any other reason? Please reply.

    Thank you

  10. Hello,

I have filed for adjustment of status from F1 in November 2012 (My wife is US citizen). Three weeks ago I moved to a new apartment in the same locality as my old one. I thought changing the address will lengthen the application processing time, also as my friends are still staying in the old apartment I did not think about changing the address with USCIS. Now I have interview appointment and the interview will be on Feb 8th. I am wondering how important it is to inform the USCIS about change of address? If I change the address, will there be any change in the interview date? Please give some suggestions.

    Thank you

  11. Hi Shyzzo,

I hope that everything will be fine after rescheduling. I am also in the some what similar boat. We applied for AOS with concurrent filing. My wife who is the petitioner got NOA for I-130, we haven't received text msg or NOA letter for I-485. Strangely, the checks for both the applications were cashed on the same day. I am not sure what is going on. I am also thinking of calling the customer service so that I will not miss my bio metrics appointment. One more thing is I tried to check my case status using the receipt number on the I-797C for I-130 and it says the case can not be found. Fingers crossed :(
