wow me too 7:15am so nervous lol
You will probably see my husband there with his daughter!

My CC done, waiting for interview date. I also have a step child. Will they ask for custody papers for the child? The document does not say anywhere that they need one.
According to the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala's website, both biological parents should attend the interview to attest that they allow the child to "travel and live permanently in the U.S." If either biological parent cannot attend the interview, a letter should be written by the absent biological parent stating that they allow the child to "travel and live permanently in the U.S." If neither biological parent can attend, both parents should write a letter.
Since my step-daughter will live in the U.S. with me and her biological father, her father will attend the interview, but her biological mother will be absent. So, her mother signed a letter written by a lawyer in Guatemala and had it notarized, attesting to allow her daughter to travel to and live in the U.S.
Also, if either parent has sole legal and physical custody, and the child will live with the parent that has sole custody, I don't think the letter is needed, just the custody agreement. You should review your embassy-specific instructions regarding interviews for step-children. I'm sure the issue is addressed. If it's not addressed, I would bring the custody papers or notarized letter just in case - it's better to be prepared than not.

at least we have a date already.. What time is your interview? Are you going with you beneficiary?
Our interview is also December 15; we were hoping for an interview during the first week of December.
That's true. I'm applying for my step-daughter (IR2) so my husband will attend the interview with his daughter; I will stay in the US with our kids. The interview is at 7:15 am.

Good NEWS!!!!! my case got completed on 10/21
I Just called NVC And my interview is set up for December 15...
Thank you GOD!!!!! :joy:
Question I have seen that some people were able to changed the interview to an early day!!
My consulate is in Guatemala who should I contact via phone or email?
What should I say???
Our interview is also December 15; we were hoping for an interview during the first week of December.
-
You should call I just got my interview date Dec 15
Thanks for letting me know! I'll call now!
-
DWheels--can you start a December interview thread?
-
FYI - they started scheduling interviews yesterday. I called earlier and got an Interview date of 12/01/2014. The operator said that it was scheduled yesterday and nothing was sent out yet to me, the immigrants, nor the consulate. CC 10/15/2014
Wonder why the rep told me they started scheduling today? I guess we'll get a different story depending on who we speak with. I'm crossing my fingers for a December 1 interview date too.
-
I just called NVC and don't have a December interview date yet. The representative also stated that she doesn't know if one will be scheduled for December. I'm hopeful that an interview will be scheduled and will not mind the representative's comment. She did confirm that they started scheduling December interviews today.

Hi everyone,
The tears have finally stopped falling, I have spoken and screamed at my husband in frustration and have now settled down. Am drinking a Coke Zero and will regale my horrific morning.
Dropped children to school, rushed back to call NVC and hopefully hear some good news.
Spoke to an operator and finally they put me through to a Supervisor - Ike. He was OK but there is nothing he can do.
My Singapore Police Certificate was scanned in on 29th August. I emailed NVC back in early August to see if I might take the Certificate to the Interview. I didn't hear back from them and so Andy and I decided we would Fed Ex it to NVC and get the clock ticking. They emailed me back on September 17th to say that my email had insufficient information. I had left off Andy's birth date. They then wrote to me on 24th September saying they received my documents of the 17th September which was, in fact, their email to me.
Turns out my last scan date is NOT August 29th but now September 17th. They opened up my file a few days ago but didn't look at the Police Certificate because they saw that there is another piece of mail waiting to be reviewed from September 17th even though it was their own email. Really!!!!!
I cried on the phone - it did not good. He went really quiet for a long period and I had to ask him if he was still there. There is NOTHING they will/can do. I just have to wait until they get to September 17th scan date.
Any idea anymore where they are up to. In reality it is only a couple of weeks away but looks like we will miss the December interview and home for Christmas.
I am dreading telling the children this afternoon that they won't be back with Dad for Christmas. I am SO sad for them.
I will be around a while longer. Looks like we are 'scan buddies' samreen although I think (and will be happy) you will get yours before me although I should only be a few days behind you.
If I get a January interview I will email the Sydney Consulate and see if they can bring it forward. That is the best I can hope for at this point.
Am numb - don't know what to say.
Love to you all.
Xxx
Call NVC again and request to speak with a supervisor. Maybe someone different from Ike will be willing to help you. Try again.

Oh no don't worry. I believe the only certificate they ask you to renew is the police certificate. That too, if it has been over a year.
In Guatemala, police certificates expire 6 months after the date of issuance. It may be different in other countries.

Hi, everybody I have a question I hope you
Can help me.
I got married in Argentina, my wife lives in Guatemala and I live in US.
Last time I got a marriage certificate was on November 2013, I don't have a recent one because since we are not in Argentina is so hard to get it. You guys think that will be an issue at the time of interview???
If the document is from Guatemala (RENAP), I think the embassy expects it should be issued within six months of the interview, documents issued outside of Guatemala (i.e. U.S. and maybe Argentina) that were issued more than 6 months from the interview shouldn't be a problem - at least that was my experience.
-
Do you know usually how long the embassy at Guatemala takes to give interview?
how was your experience during the interview with your wife?
I think my case was closed last year at the end of June and we received an August appointment. This time, we will probably receive a December appointment.
Everyone we encountered at the US Embassy in Guatemala was friendly. Make sure you take updated originals of birth certificates, marriage/divorce records, police certificates, passport-sized pictures and the affidavit of support and accompanying documents. Basically, have another copy of everything you submitted to NVC. For some reason, NVC did not include the affidavit of support so I had to complete another I-864 at the embassy. Luckily, that embassy allows the spouse to attend so they allowed me to complete another I-864 while we waited. They also asked for recent copies of all documents I mentioned above, so make sure all documents are issued within six months of your visa interview. I have a list of the questions they asked us somewhere; let me know if you want them and I'll send you a separate message.

wow congratulations. How did you find out??? I'm August 27 checklist and still waiting,. Please let us know when you get your interview.
My consulate is also in Guatemala. I want to know how long are they taking to give interviews..
I checked the website twice this morning and the second time the AOS fee changed from "Paid" to "N/A." I then called NVC to confirm. Also, the rep said they finished scheduling November interviews on Friday 10/17 and that I will have to wait for a December interview date.

Why is it taking NVC so long to invoice the IV fee? Last year the wait between submitting the choice of agent form and the IV invoice was a couple of days, now it's taking at least one month. I submitted my DS-261 on August 7 and haven't received the IV invoice.

Does anyone know the 202 number for DOS to check the case status? I have the 603 number but I know there is a 202 number with shorter wait times. Thanks
