Here is the link to the infopass appointment: https://my.uscis.gov/appointment

If you don't find a slot try to check at midnight or early morning.

Thank you for the response.  Just to make sure, of my situation; my wife has already done the biometrics last december or so.  Her GC expires in Jan.  The action that I need to take is have an extension to the extension (797).  I can make an appointment, and they can then extend the extension?  Is that correct?  Bring a passport, 797, id, and anything else that they might need, correct?

Bring your expire GC, extension letter and passport.  They will stamp the I55-1 on your passport which is the proof of your residency in the country. It would be good to bring any form of picture I.D although not required.

Secondly, Use the number on your biometric notice to track your case. The tracking number on the top right of your biometric notice. Keep in mind the USCIS tracking system is not going to tell you anything except "we received your case on a specific date etc" Since you are CSC applicant you have to wait for few more months before you hear anything from USCIS. Let's hope CSC pick up some speed.

where do I go to make an appointment?  My wife's green card expires soon, and I need to take action.

  3. Hi Guys,

My wife's GC says that it expires on "01/17/2017". However, I got a letter in the mail that says "you entered the United States as a conditional permanent resident (CPR) on (12/05/2014)."

She received her visa on 12/05/14, but did not enter the USA until January. I am curious what I should put in for the date on page 1, question 14 for the "Conditional Residence Expires On (mm/dd/yyyy)".

Also, should I send in the I-751 90 days before 12/05/2016 or 90 days before 01/20/2017

  4. Then you paid the $165 fee its the green card. Ummm I would verify with the petitioner if they paid it. If that fee isn't paid (It would have been paid after you picked up the Visa. You will never be getting that green card

That's why I gave the Elis link that's the green card website where the fee has to be paid and you follow the status of your green card.

Have you talked to the petitioner at all to find out what they did or not?

I am the petitioner, ha! I will have to look up the fees that I paid online, but it was always something like you have to pay these fees before you can proceed type of thing. I never paid on the Elis website you gave to me, but also the guy at immigration never said we had to pay anything either. In a thread a while back, when it came time to pay for the visa, people on here said I had already done it through the NVC. However, since given the visa and coming through immigration, I have not paid for anything else. However, I did say I wanted a green card sent to the address during the visa application process, and the guy at immigration said we would get a packet in the mail talking about what to do next. What is the next step then?

  5. 1. First when did you pay the $165 fee?

    2. on the http://www.uscis.gov/uscis-elis what does your status say?

    3. When you call USCIS 1-800-375-5283 what do they say about your card?

I do not recall paying the $165 fee unless I was required to sometime before. This is for the CR-1 Visa. When we went through immigration, the guy only said that we should get some packet in the mail with everything from USCIS including the card in the mail sometime.

I will try calling that number

  6. Hi guys,

We finally (19 months with no RFEs) came to the states. We went through immigration on Jan 20th 2015. We are still waiting for my wife's green card to come in the mail. I went to the Social Security office and got a SSN card already, but banks are refusing to let her open a bank account without the official green card. Does anybody know who I can call to ask about the status of it? I have tried the fruitless phone tree on USCIS's website. Does anybody have any experience with this? I have seen some people say 2-7 weeks, but based on previous history, any estimate is usually much shorter then the actual wait.

    Thank you

  7. Hi guys

We finally had our interview today in Hong Kong. I am currently sponsoring my wife, and we both live in Hong Kong. Thus far, it has taken us 18 months to get to this position, with no RFEs, with the exception of not writing "n/a" in the 864a in the "complete only if necessary line" (no, that is not a joke, and that sent us to the back of the nvc line for another 60 days).

So everything went well, with the exception of proof of domicile, at the interview today according to my wife. I was told I could not go in with her. She was the last one to leave as they felt that I did not provide acceptable prof of domicile. I had:

    Us Drivers license

Multiple bank accounts and credit cards

Maintained my car at my parents house

Got insurance quotes for when I come back

Had brochures and information for a school I would like to attend when we get back

A letter from my parents stating that I am able to stay with them when we arrive in the states

We showed that our Hong Kong visas will expire in January.

Apparently, this was not good enough to show that we plan to move to the states, and now we have to show more proof. I don't understand how I would be able to get a job offer or even an apartment contract as we have no idea when we can get this visa! Does anybody have any suggestions? The people at the embassy were useless in answering any follow up questions, which of course I could not ask after we were told to leave. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  8. ustraveldocs.com for hkg?

not need to do anything - instead - pay attention to the interview letter that comes from NVC.

    Seriously !

OK! I was only doing what the downloaded pdf from the state department told me to do.

For whatever countries ustraveldocs is available, CR1/IR1 applicants generally only use it to register the delivery address for the visa (check IV address registration above Immigrant Visa and Nonimmigrant Visa) . If you have already paid all the necessary fees (AOS, IV) at the NVC stage, don't pay for any additional fees on ustraveldocs at this point.

Thank you for this response StrawberryKiss. This answer has cleared up all of my confusion. Thank you very much!

By the way, where exactly did you read that you have to use this website? I was checking on the embassy website and it seems to be the case for K visas, not for cases that are processed through the NVC.

I read it on the HNK - Hong Kong pdf that was downloaded for interview instructions. Inside that document it says:

    "Immigrant Visa Delivery

Passport and Immigrant Visa (IV) packet delivery is done through SF Express. Applicants must sign on to ustraveldocs.com/hk to register and select a delivery address before the visa interview. Passports and IV packets can only be delivered to Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, New Territories, Lantau, Chek Lap Kok and Ma Wan."

  9. I don't know why that is like that though. A K3 visa is a nonimmigrant visa, it does lead to LPR after you do AOS. They probably have it listed under that section to distinguish it from other nonimmigrant visas. I know you said that for "visa class" you only see four K visa options, what about "visa category?" Where it says "K visas." Are you able to pick something else there?

It only gives 4 choices (the first two are for fiancee visas) and these are the other two options:

  10. I'm not sure how that website works, but K3 is a nonimmigrant visa and a CR1/IR1 is an immigrant visa. The K3 is for the spouse of a USC who will adjust status in the US, whereas the CR1/IR1 is for the spouse of a USC who will become an LPR upon entry. If you are doing CR1/IR1, there should be a choice for it. Someone who knows how this website works can tell you what to do.

Well, here is the information that I screenshot from the website. It does have the k3 classified as an immigrant visa:

  11. Hello,

After 17 months (only RFE's were at NVC), we are finally having our interview in November. I logged onto the us traveldocs thing to update the profile, but it only allows k3 as a choice. We filed out the 130, and are hopefully getting a CR-1 visa. I just wanted to double check that k3 is a classification of the CR-1 visa? Can anybody please shine some light on this? It only gave 4 choices, k1, k2, k3, k4.

  12. Hi everybody good day to all, I just wanted to know how long you have to wait to you get case complete after you submit your IV package? I was on the phone with NVC last night as i was preparing it so i wouldn't get no check list and they told me 30 days to review so can somebody who knows give me some clue as to what to expect, thanks for sharing your thoughts

mine has been a nightmare thus far. it took 8 months to complete... now waiting for them to schedule an interview.

  13. Hi guys,

I just wanted to make sure about this packet that I am sending in... as it feel so much easier than the AOS packet! This is for a Mainland Chinese Citizen who is residing in Hong Kong.

    DS-260 (online)

    cover letter

    barcoded cover letter

    2 passport photos

    passport copy of bio info

marriage certificates (white book with translation)

Police Cert (white book with translation)

Birth Cert (white book with translation)

It should be noted that we do not have the Hong Kong Police cert at the moment, because we need NVC to reply back to us after submitting this document to tell us that we need it (there is no other way around it apparently).

That is all I have! Any thoughts?

  14. Hi guys,

I thought I would just follow up on this... I ended up talking to the NVC about a different topic, and asked them about this. I couldn't figure out how to apply for the Hong Kong Police Cert from the instructions. Apparently what has to happen is that I will file the documents without the Hong Kong Cert, and NVC will basically reply back with a letter stating that my packet is incomplete. This will allow the Hong Kong Police to then go ahead and create the certificate. I cannot just go to the Hong Kong Police department without the documents from NVC saying that I need the Police check. So I think everything is all cleared up now., and I thought I would just finish this up so that other people who might run across this thread have the solution.

  15. is she native born HKG person?

I ask, cause chasing documents for a native-born HongKee

is different than for a PRC/Mainland person.

She is a Mainland Chinese Citizen with a Hong Kong dependent visa. I think everything is under control now. Thank you for the help though!

  16. Hi Guys,

I am working on the IV packet at the moment. My wife is a mainland chinese citizen who is residing in Hong Kong with me on a dependent visa. We have gotten a police certificate from china, but does she need one also for Hong Kong? She has been living here for just under 1 year.

    Thank you
