  1. my fiancé and i are at CSC which is 3 hours behind my local time.

i'm not sure which service center you're at, but that may be a factor.

I should have stated I was calling the USCIS customer service line which is supposedly open from 8-6 in all time zones...

  2. My case status was updated today (after nearly a year by the way) to Decision.

    This is what it said;

On September 30, 2014, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the decision notice is mailed and/or emailed to the applicant/petitioner. You can use our current processing time to gauge when you can expect to receive a final decision.

The language is a little confusing and vague to me - can anyone translate it into layman's terms? Where do I stand with this?

And I haven't had an interview - does this come next?

    Thanks :)

  3. Okay so when I log on the CEAC it says my status is Ready, which I think means my forms have been received by the US Embassy in London?

    Ready
Immigrant Visa Case Number: LNDXXXXXXXXX Case Creation Date: 25-Jun-2013 Status Updated Date: 16-Aug-2013

I had my medical on the 13th August, would the 16th August 'status updated' be the results of that being added to my case?

I have also registered on the https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-GB website and paid my £150. (on 20th August) I have also selected where I would like to pick up my visa/passport.
It now says Current Status - attend interview.
But there is no interview date on there, so I am a bit confused. Is there something else I need to do? Or am I waiting for them to write me a letter with the interview date as the system was before? I have tried calling the helpline number but it all seems to be automated - very frustrating! Is it worth sending an email? Do they even reply?
Any insight would be fab, thanks! :)
  4. So when I was 18, I changed my surname to my mother's maiden name by deed poll (previously had my father's last name). I have just found the documents - assumed all the paperwork would be there, but turns out I only have a 'certified copy' of the deed poll and not the original. I have looked it up and I can get a replacement, but obviously I would prefer not to spend the money.

Has anyone any experience of taking deed polls to London interviews? Originals or certified copies?

    Thanks!

  5. Like, actually at it? about 40 minutes. If it's busy and you're there later in the day, they may fall behind and you might be waiting a while. Budget in an hour and a half to your day. It's a 3-part thing, like a conveyor belt. smile.png You do a chest x-ray (10 mins), then the examination with the doctor (the longest part - 25 mins if nothing needs much explaining) then a chat with the vaccination nurse (and jabs if you're getting any - about 15 minutes).

Oh that's not too bad - hopefully there won't be a bajillion people there and we'll get done quickly.

What exactly does the doctor examine?

  6. I think that QoB's experience is the exception rather than the rule. I think she was told the date of her interview because she asked for permission for her fiance to accompany her and they just happened to have the date to hand.

Personally. I think too much is being drawn from QoB's experience.

Yes perhaps you're right and she was lucky, Hopefully we will be lucky too and they'll get their butts into gear and give us a quick turnaround!

Does anyone know how long the medicals at London normally take?

  7. I am really excited too, I hope I get the same email Queen did the day after with her interview date, thatd be nice lol. How are you getting there are u travelling far? I am coming on the bus from Swansea

    What email did Queen get?

I'm staying in London so just hopping on the tube. How long is the bus from Swansea?

  8. Here's an example of one being tested for drugs. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/445705-failed-medical-i-really-need-your-help/#entry6417246

On any blood sample, it must be specified what is being tested...STIs, white blood cells, drugs, antigens, HIV. One blood draw is not going to show every possible thing that can be tested.

Panel Physicians instructions are here. Tells what they are to look for. http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/panel/technical-instructions-panel-physicians.html

This is an incredibly helpful post - so thank you!

    ME TOO! biggrin.png

Oh that's awesome - mine is at 230 - what about you?

  9. Hey there, I have my medical in London on Tuesday.

I do not use drugs, so I wasn't worried about doing a drugs test. However, I am spending this weekend at a music festival in San Francisco (just before I fly back to London) and today there was ALOT of people smoking weed in the crowd. I am just getting paranoid that this second hand smoke will make me test positive on my drugs test!

    Does anyone know;

    1. if this is completely irrational? Can second hand smoke make you test positive?

    2. what kind of drugs test they do in London? blood or urine?

I am probably over reacting, but just want to check!

PS. Saw Paul McCartney play tonight at the festival and he was blooming brilliant!
