  1. The lady from the Embassy told me my Husband (the Applicant) needs to register on a website, www.ustraveldocs.com. She says it will be easier for him to get his Visa, and offered to create a profile for him, but I didn't have his passport number handy.

All I just want to know is people's experiences using and registering for this site, and if there is other information I need to know.

it is simple registration of your information on the website. You will also have to choose where you want to pick up your visa from.

  2. Our interview was scheduled for 9:45 AM. We got there around 9:00 AM. Went through security and reached third floor. Handed in our interview letter and we were told to wait in the waiting area. There was already a lot of others there waiting. we were called in for our interview exactly at 9:45 AM. Both of us went in together. There was two immigration officials there. one of them was just watching the whole process. They told that the interview will be recorded. After some time, we didnt even know the camera was there. First we both got sworn in, saying that we wont lie about anything. Both of the interviewers were really nice and made the whole process very comfortable. The lead interviewer just went through the AOS application and just asked my fiance her information. Name, address, phone number. How we met? How we were introduced? Where the wedding took place? Was there a lot of people at the wedding (typical indian wedding)? He went through a list of yes/ no questions that is also in the AOS application. Questions like, have you even been arrested? are you a terrorist? are you a part of the communist party? He asked if we had any photos. we had about 30 photos about all the places we went to after we got married. He went through all the photos and asked if he could keep it with our records for later. He explained the details about this conditional green card. Its good for 2yrs and then we had to go through removing the condition process. At the time, they will review all the records again. Then he said that everything looks okay and you should receive your GC in one or two weeks. The whole interview took less than 10mins. we were really shocked that it was so fast. I was expecting few hours, but thank God everything went fast. After few hours of reaching home, i received update from USCIS website, that the Green card is in production.

  3. Hi,

your wife is sponsoring you. So, in line 7 of part 3, you should enter 1. you are considered as the prinicipal immigrant.

For your household size, it is 2. (ur wife and you).

For AP application, i left the travel information and date section blank.

I received the AP/Work Combo card one week ago. It took about 60 days to get it. This coming thursday i have the GC interview. Look at my timeline for more specific date and length of time.

    Hi All,

I reached US on 26th July and our marriage was on Aug 1st. Last week we got our marriage certificate and I prepared all the docs for filing aos, ead n ap.

But I faced some issues while filling these forms. Actually in the I-864(afiidavit of support), I am the principal immigrant and in part 3 we need to mention about whom all are migrating. After that, in item 7, there is a question"Enter the total number of immigrants you are sponsoring on this form from Item 1 through 6". What value we need to give their? Is it one or zero. My wife sponsored me only. And the value we gave is zero. But the item 1. is about principal immigrant. So I am confused whether we need to give one or not

Then in part 5, there are 3 questions.

    1. Enter the number you entered on line 7 of part 3. I gave zero

    2. Yourself : By default its one

    3. If u r currently married, enter one for your spouse : 1

    4.

    5.

    6.

    7.

    8. Add together line 1-7 and enter number here :So our total is 2.

Here comes my doubt. Actually in part 3 item 1,We checked yes for " I am sponsoring the principal immigrant named in part2". So do we need to count that. If we count, then our total will become 3.Hope you guyz understood what i meant.

My next query is regarding filing AP. In the form for Advance parole, they are asking a date which we intend to travel. Actually I don't have any plan to travel soon or on any specific date. I just need to travel only in case of emergency. So what I need to give there as value for the intended date of departure.

I have one more query, that do we need to file form I-130. What is the purpose of that?

Also give me an idea about the average time needed for getting approval for AOS, EAD and AP

    Waiting for replies . . .

    Thanks & Cheers in advance,

    Vysakh

  5. Did you send your documents through VFS office? Also did you send the passport along with the documents?

After the interview, the embassy kept the passport and all the other documents. I thought, the embassy would need the passport to stamp the approval.

Two days later, fiance drop off the necessary documents with one the Team stanley drop off locations. (http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/in-loc-documentdropoff.asp). Im not sure if mumbai embassy still uses VFS services. I know, before the new system, they used to. im not sure anymore. But if you received confirmation, then i guess its good.

  6. No, I haven't received anything from the consulate, but I checked the VFS and they posted saying they have delivered to consulate.

Did you received an e-mail from the mumbai consulate saying that they have received your documents?

I received an email confirmation from the embassy itself.

  7. She had interview on dec. 28 and submitted on dec. 31

Did you receive confirmation that they received ur documents?

    HELLO THER,

I REALLY NEED SOME HELP HERE,WAITIN FOR NOA2,im aware tht i shld keep PCC ready wen tht gets approved.Nw the confusion is :

i have my passport issued from kerala state.but iv been livin in bangalore for the past 7 yrs.how do i go abt the PCC?

ALSO,my visa agent has asked me to keep ready police clearance from all d places i lived after i turned 16yrs? is dat right?

plus he also said abt passport clearance certificate( in indian cases),NOW... Which place do i get tht from?from the state my passport was issued or the state i currently live?

Most places will ask for the approval notification (NOA2) before they will give you the police clearence. At least, for us they did.

You will need police clearance from all the places you have lived since turning 16yrs old. "Indian citizens residing in India: Indian citizens residing in India for six months or more since turning 16 years of age must present Indian police clearance certificates from the local area passport office. This certificate is valid for one year from the date issuance." - Packet 3

You should get passport clearance from which state the passport was issued from. (kerala)

  8. (F) Greetings (F) , I would like to know how to submit the fee for the Form DS-230, It was not required at the National Visa Stage, and my Fiance' has not recieved packet 3 yet... I called the Dept. Of State, and they stated they sent the packet off on the 17th of December. He is in Punjab, India and he has not recieved the packet. But the instructions say you must register at us travel docs, and pay the fee. Could anyone shed some light on what to do? I really thank all for reading my post. Have a great night. :star:

You can download the packet 3 forms from the embassy website. Make sure to get the case number from National Visa Center.

  9. It seems, from other threads, that acting and talking like you are married or using those terms can cause issues, good luck with your interview. They probably did research and found your notice to be married or it was in your paperwork.

I don't mind the fact that they wanted me to prove that we didn't get married. Its a valid question, However, Its more on how they went about doing that.

  10. Worst experience ever

Fiancé arrived at embassy around 6am. Waited in line until 7:30. She was one of the first people in line. She was called for interview pretty quickly after. She was asked just general questions. What is ur fiancé name? Job? How we met? About our engagement?

Then she was questioned more detailed our about our engagement and relationship. She was questioned like for 3-4 hours straight by close to 7 different consulate employees. They were saying we got married some time between our engagement and the interview date. They had no proof of anything. They were saying my fiancé was lying. She is not.

They really tired to make her change her mind. This is what we get for doing everything the right way. I was angry hearing some of those things. They even questioned her faith/ religion. They were saying that she should not lie coz she is an Christian. If she lies, she would be denied visa til she is 90yrs old. They said, we are giving you a chance to make amends with your statements. They said she should ask for forgiveness from God for lying like this. The Mumbai embassy or anyone has no right to make a statement like this. Especially when they have absolutely no proof or anything. This went on and on like this. she was really heart broken by the end.

We have NEVER been married. During our engagement, it is customary to announce a probable wedding date. We said at that time, August 11, 2012 in USA. But because of the delay with the approval process for K1 visa petition, we had to cancel the wedding date. We decided to only set the date after my fiancé finally receives her approval. All this information, was told to them in my cover letter.

Filed the petition on February 2012. Petition approved on August 9th, 2012. Finally received interview date on December 28th 2012.

They gave her a white form asking for copies of my passport to prove that I didn't go to India and get married.

  11. Dear USCIS,

I hope that you are enjoying the most wonderful time of the year with your loved ones.

There's nothing sadder in this world than to awake Christmas morning and to be alone. I've been waiting for 7 months to start a new happy family like yours. We have waited for a very long time, and we are still waiting....

I understand the feeling.. one year and still waiting...

  12. Call National Visa Center and check when the documents reached the embassy.

Did you download packet 3 documents from embassy website? if you havent, send it as quick as possible through courier service. i never received my packet 3 either. But after 4 months of waiting, i finally received my appointment letter. My petition expires on Dec. 8th. dont worry about the petition expiring, consulate can extend that. My interview date is after my petition expiration date.

Hi I applied for k1 visa for my fiance in India and my application was approved on aug28,11 and got letter saying that my case has been transfer to national visa center in India. So we waited for the packet3 in the mail to come which never did as of today 12/6/2012. Last month my fiance called us embassy receptionist and they told her to long into https://cgifederal.secure.force.com and sign up you will be able to see interview dates and other info about your case!!! but still no help And my petition going to be expire this 28th :/ anyone can guide me to Right direction would great appreciate

  13. December 28th.

I was in the same situation. Got approved at the end of August, had to keep calling NVC, and finally saw that our BMB case was on the consulate website for December interviews. However, we also never received any packets,a lthoguh DOS told me the consulate sent it out. We didnt even receive an interview letter. My fiance had to go to the consulate and get it from them. When is your interview date? My fiances is next week.

  14. My petition got approved on August 9th from USCIS. From that date til December 3rd, they said that they never received any my documents, even from NVC. On December 3rd, they send us a email with the interview date.

we got approved from the USCIS on August 7th and got an appointment letter in the mail on August 27th saying he had an interview on September 6th... we never got any packets or anything either...........

  15. They never acknowledged that they have the documents. The only conformation i received was from the national visa center. I just received an email response yesterday saying that they didnt receive my case documents. And that now i should contact National visa center.

if you could move this to the india forum, it will be greatly appreciated.

When you emailed them, did they acknowledge they had your file? When did they say they didn't?

blush.gif I can only imagine how frustrating it is.

Do you want me to move your post to the India forum to see if anyone had a similar experience with the Mumbai embassy?

  16. I have emailed them over 10-15 times. Everytime its always the same message, "Be patient".

I have talked to them on skype and on chat. I have even messaged on the facebook page.

    Don't lose hope star_smile.gif ever!

How did you receive the notification about your documents reaching the Embassy on the 28th? Did they email you? Did you call?

Is there any other way to communicate with the embassy other than the call center? Can you email them?

  17. The national visa center was able to track the documents. (DHL Service)

  18. My application for K1, fiance visa was approved at Vermont service center on August 9th, 2012 . Afterwards, it went to national visa center and it was later forwarded to U.S. Consulate in Mumbai on August 20th. We received conformation that the documents reached the embassy on August 28th, 2012. Still now, we havent received any response back from the embassy. The customer call center is completely USELESS. They dont know anything about the case and just tell you to be patient. Now they are telling me that they never received my case documents. I dont know who to believe any more. No one wants to take responsiblity for the case. Everytime, they tell you something different. I have contacted National Visa Center and Department of State. I have even emailed the congressman. Still nothing.

    Note:

I send them packet 3 documents by email and by mail back in september. we received conformation that it was received by the embassy.

    Petition expires December 8th, 2012.

  19. Ask NVC to do a track on your application. They should be able to tell you when the documents reached the embassy.

    Hi Everyone!

I filed a K1 visa for my fiance in June 2012 through CSC. My application was approved and forwrded to the Mumbai Consulate on August 28, 2012. It has been three months and my fiance and I have not heard or recieved anything from the consulate. He has not recieved his packet 3. His NVC visa approval expires in December! I called DOS to please let me know where my case was, and they told me that Mumbai consulate had not recieved our case from NVC!

What do I do? Does it take this long? I have emailed NVC telling them that Mumbai has not recieved our case. NVC replied back by saying they had forwarded it to Mumbai. We called Mumbai. They told us they do not have it. It keeps going back and forth!

If anyone can please help, it would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

  20. I am in the same situation since August 24, 2012. Did your fiance try to download the documents from the website and send it the embassy?
