  2. ahhhhh thx for catchin me up..and also Becca(regarding Pat) YOU BAD!!!! I think we can guess tho..... :) :) :):) M.

LOL!! yes we had our interview today for AOS and it was sooooooo easy!

Our lawyer was there in a panic because I didn't have bank statements or lease agreament in our evidence....but what I did have was ultrasound pictures and ANdy's papers from work showing me as beneficary (sp) for his life insurance.

So now of course I'm in a panic because the lawyer is in a panic.....

We get called back ... the officer commented on how big our file was... asked Andy his personal info... date of birth, place of birth, parents name, and so on...

Then he asked how we met.... then asked why Andy went back after we got married... we answered together... "because it's the law!!!: LOL

Then he said...well you are approved.... I said "wait a minute!!! don't you want to see a picture of the baby?????????" ... he said "yeah ok" looked at it and handed it back to me....lol

and that was it!! No futher evidence asked for... our lawyer was in a huff of disbelief... lol

  5. Hmm, I didnt know exactly what a blood glucose test involved. What if you are ALREADY diabetic? Then what do they do, I wonder? Curious...

I'm not sure what they do if you are already diabetic, I would assume that they would just want you to keep with your regular diet and be monitored. If you find out let us know

Yeah we wanted to bring some good news to VJ enough of the divorce stories.

Congrats on such a beautiful baby boy!!

  8. I haven't been able to post much latley... school is really rough right now as the semester is winding down. But wanted to say CONGRATS to all the good news I have read since I last posted and to the newly pregnant

I also wanted to post this email my mom sent me I thought it would bring a smile to those of us born durning the 70's or before! enjoy

    BORN IN THE

    1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and early 70's !!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they

    carried us.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright colored

    lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we

rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took

    hitchhiking.

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE

    actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but

    we weren't overweight because

    WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back

    when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down

the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the

bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no

99 channels on cable, no DVD movies, no surround sound, no cell

phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat

rooms..........WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no

    lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays,

made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't

had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They

    actually sided with the law!

This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers

    and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned

    HOW TO

    DEAL WITH IT ALL!

And YOU are one of them! CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as

kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives for our own good.

and while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

  9. We just FINALLY got our amnio results and we are having a healthy baby girl

Thanks to those who sent good vibes!!!

I am over the moon right now

congrats kiki!!! I'm soooo happy for you .... as someone else mentioned...do you have any names picked out?

    Patricia

  10. Patricia-

Thanks for the information. It was nice to hear from someone in a similar situation. I think the idea of setting up an account here and sending a debit card for her to use in the UK is a great way to send money. Much easier than trying to wire the money as that can be quite costly. I will definitely tell my fiance.

    Thanks!

You're very welcome!!! We found that this would be the cheapest way to send money weekly ...it cost $1.50 per transaction... vs. $20.00 for a transfer.

We use Chase bank. and when we set up the account we told them exactly what we were doing with it. They had no problem with it. The only thing is the debit card could only be put in my name or Andy's name because you have to have a signature on file at the bank... they said it wouldn't matter for ATM withdrawls she just wouldn't be able to use it as a credit card. Also we had to call the security department for the ATM card and let them know there would be weekly transactions from the UK.

We have been doing this for about a month and a half and all is going well... his ex was not happy about it because the card is not in her name... but oh well she doesn't have much choice...and has been difficult with him for the last 6 years so.... any way another long story...lol

I hope you both all the best!!

  11. copping my post in this thread too...

Here is our experience!!! this is happening to Andy (UK) as we speak.

1.) Andy wnats to pay child support

2.) immigrates to USA, has enough money in savings UK account which child support is direct debited out of for approx 3 months.

3.) Savings about to run out.. Andy calls Child support agency in the UK explains to them the situation that his savings has run out ... he is in USA and wants to set up direct debit from here to pay his support.

4.) Child support agency says "YOU DON"T HAVE TO PAY now that you are in the USA" also there is no means to debit from USA for child support.

5.) Andy insists that he wants to pay and child support agency says again "YOU DON"T HAVE TO PAY>> and the only thing ex-spouse can do is try to take it to court but it is hardly ever up held.... child support agency does NOTHING to seek payment from parent in the USA."

6.) Andy gives up with child support agency tells them that he will continue to pay via other means.

7.) We set up a bank account here in the use... send debit card to his ex... and she withdrawls her weekly support .

So to answer your question ... yes she can try to take him to court for payment of child support... it would be an expensive and drawn out affair that would probably take long than his 3 months to get his EAD. I would say his best bet is to send a certified copy of a letter to his EX as well as the child support agency (keeping the orginial certified copy for himself) detailing his intent to pay support when he starts working. Also notifying the child support agency in England via phone to let them know what is happening. This way he is covered if she indeed takes him to court.. This will at least give him documentation of his intentions.

Andy sent a letter to his ex and the child support agency just to make sure he is in a way protected if his ex tries to say he isn't paying.

I hope this has helped some if you need any more information send me a pm and I will be happy to give more of our experience.

  14. Just wanted to add that every one here who's pregnant should visit that web site (which is the What To Expect When You Are Expecting's website) because it really is amazing!

It helps you with all the lists and plans and all the other stuff parents-to-be should know. It is true that you have to subscribe to get the most out of it but the first month is free, so if you don't like the website and feel like you have already taken all the information you needed from there, then you can just cancel subscription.

I have already printed out pages and pages of stuff..... and I'm gonna use that website (and read the book) for sure when the time comes.

Good luck to you all!:star:

And hey.... I have a question. What kind of pain killer (if any) have you used (or will use)? Was it as good as you thought?

If this has been discussed before, just tell me so and I'll go look for it! ;)

I have had c-sections for my first 2 and will have to have one for this one as well..so I can't answer this question...

    Patricia

  15. I'm not pregnant yet... which I think is a good thing since we want to be together on every stage of pregnancy. We plan on getting pregnant soon after i get my visa though... But I just read something on www.whattoexpect.com (which is a GREAT place btw) that brought tears to my eyes:
If you've had breast reduction surgery, chances are good that you won’t be able to nurse exclusively, because the breast tissue that was removed contained milk glands and ducts. (If you’ve had breast augmentation, there’s also a small chance that you won’t be able to produce enough milk to supply your baby’s needs.)

I've had a reduction and it hurts to think that could happen to me!!

    :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:

    I can't cry enough...... :(

awwww big Hugs!!!... if I were you I would call a lactation specialist and talk to them about your concerns... there may be something you can do to increase your chances of sucsessful nursing. In the mean time maybe do some more research and possible find a forum for support for mom's and mom's to be. Look on www.ivillage.com here is a quote from an article I found there. There is much more info there as well.. and here is the link to the article http://parenting.ivillage.com/newborn/nbre...0,,40v6,00.html

There are two basic types of breast reduction surgery, or reduction mammoplasty. In one, the nipple and areola remain attached, while excessbreast tissue is removed (pedicle technique.) In the other, which is most commonly used for very large breasts, both nipple and areola are completely removed, severing glands and nerve pathways (free-nipple technique.) If ducts and nerves remain intact, breastfeeding is possible. It is unlikely that breastfeeding will be successful if the areola and nipple have been completely removed and repositioned, as in the free-nipple technique.

In a 1992 study, "Is breastfeeding possible after reduction mammoplasty?" by Harris, Morris and Freiberg in Plastic Reconstructive Surgery, 68 patients were followed after reduction mammoplasty (pedicle technique). Twenty became pregnant and all produced milk. 13 (65 percent) decided not to breastfeed, and 7 (35 percent) breastfed successfully.

Even if milk ducts and nerves have been cut or damaged during surgery, it is impossible to know for sure if you are able to breastfeed until you try. If it is determined that your milk supply is insufficient, a nursing supplementer can be used while breastfeeding. This allows your baby to benefit from the closeness of nursing, while receiving the milk you are able to produce, along with necessary supplementation.

I would recommend working with a Lactation Consultant familiar with your particular situation. She will be able to help you in positioning your baby to best access your milk, to deal with problems of breast engorgement (that can be more common in women who have undergone breast surgery), and in evaluating your milk supply. To find a Lactation Consultant in your area, contact ILCA (International Lactation Consultant Association) atilca@erols.com.

It is important that your baby's output be monitored in the first six weeks following the birth. Your baby should be having six to eight wet diapers and at least two good sized bowel movements each day. Weekly weight checks are also important during the first six weeks to be sure your baby is receiving the proper nutrition.

I didn't nurse with my first son...I wanted to go back to work right away, and to be honest I wasn't at all interested in nursing then.. when I had my daughter I was all prepared to nurse her and did for the first week than my doc noticed I had a staff infection on my c-section incision so of course I had to be on strong antibodics, which crossed through my breast milk ... and my daughter was allergic to it, so I was told to pump and dump, until I was done with antibodics and then go back to nursing her. unfortunatly that did not work out for me so I had to live with only nursing her for a week... the up side is she did get some of the much needed colostrum.

This time I plan on nursing at least the first 2 to 4 weeks until I start back to school after that we will see.

    Hugs again Patricia

  16. figures, right?

    Yeah lol... sure does..haha

I don't work... just go to school full time... coach soccer 3 nights a week ... have 2 kids... I still make time for a nap most days though...:whistle::blush:
