Hello,
Our first post here. Yes we filed in Feb this year and are still waiting for an approval. Vermont....
Anyway, my wife and I have literally put our lives on hold. We won't buy a home as there is a chance that we can be disapproved. What are the odds of disapproval? We never needed to provide more evidence and have not had an interview.
I just looked at the September 2011 filers and they still have only 57% approved! We are seriously considering moving back to the UK...
I blame Obama's government...

Ok I looked at the Sept 11 filers and didn't see yours up there ?? what have you done to find out what's going on ? it would be good for you to make an InfoPass appointment and go to face to face with a IO. Bottom line is you need to hang in there, you have come this far and you will be fine.

i check status every day on the uscis website,,so far ,, no changes,,,,u hear about these things but u never think they will happen to u,,,it will all work out eventually,,hang in there !!!!!
You didn't receive an RFE huh ? you're outside of processing times, you need to take action now ! forget about the online case updates .. we've been approved and our case status online still says " initial review " LOL

Ok I can answer your question now. We sent our RFE back to VSC July 29th and we got approved August 29th exactly one month later.

So this morning I went down to my local service center as I had made an infopass appointment to have my passport stamped with a I-551 because my 12 month status extension is to expire in two days time. When my number was called I went up to the IO who checked my papers etc and looked at his computer screen and said " I have some good news and some not so good news ! " OooKkkk .... He said that our ROC had been approved last Thursday but it hadn't been mailed yet !!! yipppeeee !!!!
and he still gave me a 3 month I-551 to cover me in the interim while my card is mailed. The "case status online" still hasn't been updated LOL what a great morning it has been

You filed at VSC... so your guess is a good as anybodys as to how long you will wait. Sorry for the vague reply but that's just how it is with the VSC.

When we sent in our RFE response USCIS updated the system to say that the case was now in RFE Review as of July 18th.
(But I know the package was signed for on the 13th).
Was that an RFE for I-751 ROC ? I had a RFE for the I-751 and the online status wasn't changed and hasn't been changed in 12 months.

I got the RFE notice on 08/06/12 and sent back my package on 08/08/12.
USCIS (VSC) received my package on 08/09/2012.
Now almost 3 weeks passed, I didn't hear anything from them.
Worrying....
How do you know the date they received it ? was it signed for or something ?

Hello everyone,
Our 60days RFE limit been passed. We called, they told us to wait 15 more days, if we dont get any approval then we will call them again to do the service request, has anyone got the same reply from them(USCIS)? Then what???
We're on 30 days after sending back the RFE, you really would think that your case would be at the top of the pile huh ... but nooooo it doesn't appear to be that way. I would contact your local congressman for your district and ask them if they can help you out by asking USCIS to expedite the process.

Looks like it. Thankfully, we can just begin the naturalization process without it, and once that's complete we never have to deal with this absurd system again.
How exactly does that work ? I thought you would need a current GC without conditions to apply for the N-400

We got a letter dated Aug 22 from Sen. Isakson's office that included a print-out of an email from a nameless USCIS employee. The email said that our file had been pulled from the shelf and a decision would be made on it within 30 days. Where have I heard that one before?

i took the biometrics fingerprints march 5 in Oakland Park, Florida .... since then my USCIS status been INITIAL REVIEW..
It passed 5 months, i am going for 6th month... and i still don't have any news,
Does anybody have the same issue from VERMONT CENTER?
I would appreciate if somebody can recommend me something! or i should hire a LAWYER!?
It should make you feel better to know that we're still at " initial review" and it's been almost 12 months !!!! your case is being "processed" at VSC, sit back and chill my friend for you have a long wait in front of you

The processing time for this center compared to CSC is almost night/day.
One can only imagine what some of the attitudes would be like amongst the "workers", oooppps sorry I meant employees at the VSC.

I have a question, my two year GC expired in 02/12 and currently i am waiting for my conditional GC, I have recieved the extension letter I 797C, but still waiting for the GC. now the GC i will be recieving would be for one year only ( the time when my last GC expired from 02/2012 to 02/2013) with the expiration date 02/2013. and then i will be eligible to apply for 10 year GC? I did not know about 10 year GC after i read some of the posts. Also when can i be eligible to apply for naturalization.
Your conditional GC is good for two years, then you file for ROC, after you file for ROC you receive a 12 months extension and once approved your GC is good for 10 years.
You can apply for naturalization/citizenship after being a GC holder for 3 years if you entered the US on a K1 visa.

Just an update... took my oath ceremony today so I guess the ROC is the past now.
I just checked my ROC status online, and it still says initial review.
Am I the only one in VJ where I have my oath with a pending ROC?
I am glad I'm done with USCIS.

Are all you guys who are receiving approval notices and RFEs getting email notifications and updates on the website or are you just getting letters by snail mail?
Snail mail for RFE in July, I haven't had a "case status" update on the USCIS website since September 2011

Actually, I would hope that every bogus marriage was denied at AOS, and never makes it to ROC. If these guys just did their job right the first time around, they would save themselves a lot of work and all of us genuine folks a lot of money, time and headaches when traveling by simply eliminating ROC. But I am dreaming....
If I were to guess, false approvals at AOS (approving bogus marriages) is probably very low since I remember thinking that it would be almost impossible to game the system when I went through AOS. Also, what incentive does the US Citizen have to participate in a bogus marriage - does an offer of cash or some reward balance out the risk of getting a felony? So, they could probably completely eliminate ROC by just making AOS much more intrusive - mandatory home visits or something like that.
Anyway, back to your original question. I think genuine ROC applicants will not be denied. And even if everything goes wrong and results in denial, I heard somewhere that the burden of proof reverses when you go to appeal the decision in court - USCIS needs to comprehensively prove that your marriage was solely to circumvent US law.
Yes I agree 100% with what you said here, I also wonder if the USCIS takes into account the ages of the petitioners, what country a person immigrated from when reaching a decision. An example could be a person who is 50 years old and came from a country like Australia or the UK who would very likely have a much lower chance of wanting to circumvent the legal procedure of entering and staying/living in the US as opposed to a person who is 21 years old and came from a nation who's standard of living was not on the same level ?
