  1. Hi guys I filed the I-751 on Wednesday so hoping to get NOA 1 before Christmas.

Looking ahead I am wondering if anyone has had an experiance with offices in the Philadelphia area and early Biometrics appointments, are they possible?

Also do you need to have a Bio appointment letter to go for your bio appointment or will NOA1 do?

Also what else do you need to go for your Bio metric appointment?

    Thanks

you will need the bio appt letter first! my hubby was in and out in 5 minutes....i do not think the NOA1 is enough....you should get your bio appt letter soon. I think he had to bring his passport & that was it

    good luck

  2. my landlord already sent the letter...just states that Gavin moved in 2006 & she didn't add him to the lease b/c it would have increased the rent! I think the IRS transcripts alomg with all our bank statements will be enough...we have been together forever! if they want more we will give it to them...I think...I KNOW I didn't send enough the first time-I am confident I am sending what they want!

    thanks guys

  3. Do you have a car(s) titled in both names? That's some joint ownership.

we don't have much in both names except for a joint bank account & a loan...we are both unemployed at the moment so we don't even have health ins...I am waiting for a letter from my previous employer(insurance co) stating that my hubby was on my ins for 2 yrs prior to me being laid off.

so basically I have the tax returns, bank statements & a letter from my landlord...I sent travel itinerary & pics but obviously that wasn't enough.

I think the tax transcripts from the IRS as well as w-2's will help...I also printed bank statements from 2007-til now..instead of what I first sent which was only 2 statements(idiot that I am)

    Colleen

OK, then do as they request and send them the tax returns, and the important part of bank statements is to show that you have joint bank accounts dating back to when you got married.

Also, the loan will be helpful so make sure you send a copy of that as well. It looks like you are on the right track

I think the problem was I sent like 2 statements and I sent recent ones like an idiot  I now have statements dating from the time we were married til now...those along with the w-2's and IRS transcripts should be enough..they were pretty clear about what they wanted so I am giving them exactly what they are asking for...I guess I was a little dumb when I sent in the original paperwork

  5. Ok...I will try to be as brief as possible! First hello to everyone....my peeps! I haven't been on in a while-sorry

anyway just got the dreaded RFE...they are asking for specific info:

    IRS transcripts(I sent internet #######)

Bank info-from the beginning of the relationship til now(I didn't send enough-I sent just 2 statements  )

joint ownership of assests(other than a rental agreement-we don't have much)

    so...If I send...

letter from landlord stating that my hubby has lived here since 2006(when he came over on k-1)

official IRS tax transcripts from past 2 years

bank statements from 2007 til present

    will that be enough?

I have 30 days to send back-any info would be much appreciated! :star:

  7. I AM CONFUSED :wacko::blink:

the I-751 is being sent in this week....but what about AOS? or does the I-751 cover us?

I have not used my Immigration brain in a while....soryy for confusing everyone.

this was the last thing i received from USCIS Actually the last thing you should have received from USCIS was the PR/Green Card right? (That's what the AOS was for - adjusting from one thing, to that of a permanent resident).

I feel SO MUCH BETTER...I was starting to panic & with me only working part time i was going nuts!!!!! I feel so much better...I can ALWAYS count on my VJ peeps to set me straight! I have some time so I WON'T file the I-751 just yet...you are all rock stars!!!!!:thumbs:

    I think you're confused.

Your timeline shows that you were approved for AOS on 07/24/2007. That means your husband's greencard should expire sometime around 07/24/2009. You should be filing the I-751 within the 90 days prior to that (aprox. 04/24/2009-07/24/2009 double check the dates, as I'm not being exact).

Okay, I'm a little confused too.

I just got my conditional, 2-year green card approved today, and this is what the update told us:

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.

On February 26, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before you get your new card call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

Your notice talks about approval, but doesn't mention your receiving the green card in the mail within 60 days... did you? Did you get the green card? It seems as though the notice you have there is the same as mine, and for the same thing, but worded differently because it's a couple of years older. But the proof for that is whether your husband has his green card right now - does he?

yes he does have his green card-it expires this July

  9. hey everyone...haven't been on in a while!!! we filed my man's I-751, but I did not file AOS yet...how much trouble are we in? We got married in Jan of 07(I know). I thought we had up until his green card expires to file...I was wrong.....as usual

I am not working and money is so tight but....is it really bad that we haven't filed for AOS yet? does filing the I-751 buy us any time?

    HELP!!!!

    hope everyone is well

  10. Hi all!

If someone has a greencard but is convicted of a DUI(well actually the person was approved for ARD & the conviction will be erased from their record), will they be able to leave the country & get back in?

I didn't think it would be an issue...what do you guys think?

    Just wondering

  11. It depends a great deal on what she signed as to what she will face in trying to unravel. At the least, re-entering without inspection after being in the US over a year without authorization can mean 10 years outside the US before they can even file a waiver.

A rule of thumb would be not to sign anything they ask you to sign admitting anything without a lawyer present (of course you are not able to have a lawyer present).

She should take copies of anything she signed to an attorney to review the situation on its whole.

I am assuming she panicked, as I mentioned this is a friend of a friend(actually the girlfriend of my friends brother)

they knew I went through a lot getting my man here but his case wasn't this complicated. Bottom line I told him he needs to get a lawyer asap. He is going to visit her next week in Mexico...thanks for the response

  12. Ok all...a friend of a friend is currently going thru the worst situation ever.

He met a girl whol lives here but is from Mexico, apparently she has worked as a nanny the past few years(yes illegally), now she has been back & forth to Mexico several times with no problem(not sure how) but she was detained on her last trip while trying to enter the US.

She apparently admitted to working here & the immigration officials had her sign all sorts of paperwork.

I told my friend that they need a very good lawyer ASAP. I know she will have an automatic ban for overstaying the visa & for working illegally but since they are a couple & have been for 2 years.....could they file for a K-1?? Or could they get married in Mexico & he can come here & petition to bring her here as his spouse?

I just feel for them & figured I could ask you guys for some advice. I know they need a lawyer, but I wanted to be able to tell them something.

    Thanks all

    Colleen

  14. the company i work for has an office there ..KOP..hmmm.. i can see the future.daniel-san and me, kicking back and drinking many beers

I work in the corporate offices at David's Bridal....we are just outside of KOP...in Conshohocken.

  15. KOP is a very nice area...

i am able to gather that it is a nice place. :D

any idea how much rent for a 3/2 house goes for?

i've seen some 4/3 and lots of xtras for 2200/month. way out of my range.

    Daniel

    :energetic:

I live just oustide of Philly(I mean literally 2 blocks out of the city), in a little town called Rockledge, I love it. I am only paying $650 for a one bedroom apartment. The houses in my neighborhood range from $240,000.00 to $400,00.00. I just saw a house for rent-I think it was a 3 bedroon & it was $1250.00 a month. The schools in that neighborhhod are great. I think there are a lot of great things about Philadelphia.

    The food(it is too good)

the weather....it does get hot in the summer & cold in the winter, but it is not as extreme as other places. we do not have tornadoes, or have to worry about hurricanes or earthquakes. In my opinion, we are in a great location.

The people are great-well not the ones that shoot eachother

If you have any questions pm me-I would be happy to help ya!

    Colleen

  16. Excellent! :)

My papers should all be in order by the middle of next week---then, I can apply.

    Way cool!

    Thank you!

    :D

My man had two drunk/disorderly convictions, I supplied a copy of his police report & we were approved in 90 days with no interview(which I still can't believe). If you send that in you should be fine.

I have heard that they "sometimes" want the court transcripts, but since that didn't happen with us, I bet that won't happen to you either.

    good luck!

    Colleen

  17. Then why NOT apply for the EAD? It's free. (included)

okay, night.....just not making any sense to me anymore.

Right now, you might as well, since the fee is inclusive of EAD and AP. At the time I filed in April, I had a choice on what to file. I did not file for EAD or AP figuring that I might get my GC before getting my EAD. My interview is this month. So...approximately 4 months since I applied. I'm fortunate in that I don't have to work, so it wasn't a necessity to apply for my EAD. Before, it was a ####### shoot on whether you'd get your GC before your EAD. I don't know which is better...guess we'll have to wait and see how this pans out with the "inclusiveness" of the fee structure now in place and how soon applications are processed.

    Carla (F)

my man's EAD was approved like 6 days before his greencard

I was a little annoyed, but it is a gamble. There was a good chance his greencard could have taken forever & he really needed to be able to get out there & work, so we decided to pay the extra money for the EAD.

    good luck to ya!

  18. Gavin got his greencard yesterday...his picture looks good :star: Our journey is over for a while(Thank God).

Anyway-to all of you who are still waiting...............I hope & pray that you get your cards soon and you can put this drama behind you-and move on with your lives...Gov't free!

thanks again to everyone who listened to me whine, complain and cry..I will be eternally grateful to all of you.

    Colleen

  19. Thanks Colleen, you're a star!

ok here goes.....first I think ALL the details are on the US Embassy website(there are also forms to be filled out). He said he went to the Embassy(after calling to make an appointment). He had to hand over a money order for 80 Euro, he had to have a self addressed stamped envelope & then he handed in his paperwork(that we filled out on-line). Then they mailed him an interview letter...he said it was ablut 3-4 weeks after he went in.

Now-he didn't get the visa but I suspect it was b/c of his overstay & b/c he didn't have strong enough ties to Ireland. as long as you have all your paperwork in order-I am sure he will get it.

definetly check out the website-all the instructions are on there. Let me know if you need any more info

    Colleen

  20. My Dublin man got his greencard today................just had to share!

it only took 95 days & we didn't have an interview.

    Lucky day!

    hope everyone is well

    Colleen

I pop in now and then hoping to hear that you lads have had some good news!! Congrats!!! Ye must be over the moon after all the hassle Gavin had moving there, I'm delighted for you both :)

Colleen, I'll be handing back my Greencard and will need to get a holiday visa to visit with Rob in future as I was also stopped on the visa waiver years ago. I think I remember you said Gavin applied for a holiday visa once too but didn't get it, do you mind me asking how long it took to get an appointment and if you know how long a holiday visa is valid for?

We're doing grand here - and yes house prices are flipping ridiculous here, God we'll be renting forever at this rate :( but we've great friends and live by beaches and the gorgeous West Cork so we're never short of things to do. Sinéad is crawling, standing, climbing stairs and just being great craic altogether :) I'll try and post a pic if I can as we think she's such a cutie!! It's only a small one from my mobile as I haven't much uploading space left here and I'm too lazy to do it any other way ;)

Glad to hear ye're all well and Colleen, I hope ye had a good GC celebration!

    Mand

I was just talking to Gavin about you last nught...your ears must have been ringing!!! I still can't believe he got the greencard so quickly, maybe they took pity on us after all they put is thru with the K-1

anyway...Gav aplied for a B-2 visitor's visa and was denied. I believe he was denied because he could not show strong enough ties to Ireland. You have a house-family & your daughter there...I don't think you wil have any problems at all. just make sure you show plenty of bills & maybe even have a few letters from friends. If I remember correctly-we filled out his forms on the net & then sent them in....I don't remember if he had an appointment or not(God I am losing it all together). I will ask him later & get back to you.

pm me if you need any other info!

so glad to hear from ya.....glad you & Rob are doing so well. Your daughter is getting so big...where does the time go?

    Colleen
