  1. I greatly appreciate the responses. You both cleared up a lot of my confussions. If my fiance decised to do it in Iyaganku, we will have to make sure it was processed from Alagbon. I guess the price they quote us will also determine where we get it done. People have posted in other forums that prices for police reports can be as low as N6,000.

  2. Hello Everyone, Im just womdering of some of the Nigerians here can help me out with some of the questions I have.

I just got approved now awaiting the NOA2 letter. I want to get everything I can get done now before I go into labor.

    1) Im going to need a co sponsor, where do I locate the poverty guidelines? Do I include the baby in our family size cause she isnt born yet but will be anyday now. Any advice on what the Nigerians requirements about co sponsor everything I can find here has been about Manilla which seems to be a difficult issue for them. Hoping Nigeria is a little more relaxed on this matter.

    Congratulations on your approval!

Nigeria does allow co sponsors. This is the link to the embassy website: http://nigeria.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visa_forms.html#k1k2

If you look through the packet requirements for KI visa applicants, it states that to meet the public charge provision of the law, you can have relatives or friends in the United States who will assure your support. I am also using a co sponsor because I am a grad student with no income.

    Good Luck!

  3. I have been reading that we can get the police report done in our local cities even though the instruction on the embassy website only mentions Alagbon in Lagos. My fiance lives in Ibadan so it would be easier for him to get the police report in Ibadan. I read on one of the previous posts that if you do the police report at a local command, you will need to forward it to Lagos (Alagbon) for processing. What does this mean? Would my fiance need to forward the processing to Alagbon and then pick it up there?

Thanks in advance for your responses!

  4. And depressing really. I was reading some of our posts back in July and August here. CSC people getting approved left and right. It's just agonizing to be left in the dust for so long. Our thread was full of excitement and anticipation. Now, it is full of us VSC folks venting about our frustrations that is the black hole of uncertainty while our fellow April CSC folks are moving on with their plans/life. I'm a patient man, but this is nonsense and sucks dramatically.

I could not have said it better myself.

  5. Hello everyone. I have been reading mixed responses regarding sending more evidence to NVC. My fiancé will be going through one of the toughest consulates in the world (Lagos, Nigeria) and we want to be very prepared. As such, I thought it might be a good idea to send in more evidence to NVC once we are at that stage. However, I have been reading about this and while some people said that it might actually lead to denial or slow down the process, some have said it really helped during the interview at the consulate and it did not slow down the process at all. In fact, the CO already had an approval letter printed out before the beficiary was interviewed. Has anyone petitioning for k1 visa ever experienced denial or delays because they sent more documents to NVC? Also, does anyone know if evidence can be sent to Lagos consulate ahead of the interview?

Thanks in advance for all your responses.

  6. Hello Everyone,

I am an April filer, and I have not received my NOA2. I am just trying to prepare for the later stages of this process. With that said, I am wondering if it is necessary to submit the original affidavit of support or if it is acceptable to submit a scanned version. The reason I am asking is because my fiancee is in Nigeria and sending mail to Nigeria is very unreliable, and he might not get the documents. The alternative is to use UPS, which is ridiculously expensive. Is there any information about this on VJ ?

Thanks in advance for your help!
