  1. So my wife just asked for a divorce. She said that she regrets asking me to marry her and that she's not motivated to make the marriage work (she wants to be independent.) I feel like ###### but it's important to me that I don't throw my life away a second time (the first being when I agreed to marry her.)

I'm worried about ROC because of how short our relationship was (8 months) and how short our marriage was (7 months). I'm tempted to get an immigration lawyer this time (we didn't the last time around.) Any experienced VJers want to help me out here with some advice?

Currently I have the same info I took the interview:

    -Joint bank info

-Wife listed as sole beneficiary of retirement benefits

-Wife listed as beneficiary in will

    -Wife listed on drivers license

-Wife changed her name to mine

    -Affidavits from friends and family

    -Joint utility bills

-I paid her student loans for two months (the payments started only 2 months ago)

    -Photos

I really hope this is enough for ROC. I'm already crushed beyond belief and being sent from the country in addition would be horrible. Anyone with similar experiences?

  2. Well we just went in for our interview in St. Paul, MN. We got taken into the room right at our appointment time and on the way our IO had some idle chatter with us. We got sworn in and the IO asked for our IDs, passport and I-94. She didn't ask for the EADs but I handed them over anyway. She took the two expired ones and gave me the current one back. She started with basic Qs for my wife like what is your name, is this your signature, etc. Then she asked how we met. I was really nervous and kept interrupting my wife which I feel bad about. Then we got asked the following Qs:

    - When did you move in together

    - Do you have joint accounts? - Yes, 2 checking and one saving.

    - Do you still have individual accounts? - Wife has one for her business, I have a savings acct.

    - Where do both of you work?

    - Has your employer filed for an H1? - No

The the IO asked me the basic 485 questions and about my F1 history.. She then handed me my I94 & Passport back. She said she'd need to review the file further but we'd get a response soon. I asked to turn in some utility bills because originally, I'd only given in a screenshot of the online account. I wanted to turn in more of the evidence like insurance docs, etc. which weren't in our original filing but I was nervous so I didn't. I'm kicking myself for it because hey, they shouldn't dislike more evidence right? Anyway, It's been an hour so far and no change on the online system. :P

I'm nervous but my wife thought it all went well. I was obsessing about the fact that she returned my I-94 and EAD but I've since read that some of you got yours back too. I'm a little surprised with how nervous I was in the interview because right upto the point we went in, I was fine. :bonk:

  3. Any news on June filers who did NOT have an interview and were transferred? I'm wondering where they can possibly be in the process now for us who filed mid June 2012. Thanks

Well I don't fit into your requirements but I will say that our IV notice came exactly around the same time that our local office's processing times stated.

In other news, we have our IV in two days! I'm frantically making copies of all the new docs we're taking in (new passport, bank statements, new benefits from work with wife as beneficiary, etc.). I think the thing that strikes me most is that both of us are totally relaxed about this. We're both in the "we have a legit marriage so all the prep questions are super easy to answer" place. We're just planning to go in, be honest and come out. Seeing as how so many people are nervous, I'm not sure what to think about how we feel. Overconfidence? :P

Also congrats to all those who got their GCs since my last visit. Glad MrsGore did. 3 months is waay too long to have to wait for such a small reason....

  4. Congratulations to everyone who received their approvals! Sounds like all of you had a fairly smooth experience. Hang in there McFly, I'm sure you will hear back soon. Sometimes they still have a little while on the namecheck left when they do the interviews.

I'm a week away from Day 90 and still don't have an interview date. Is it true that if you reach day 90, you can ask them to expedite the interview appointment?

BTW has Angeltots updated the spreadsheet recently?

  5. ^ Awwww come on IPv6Freely, I'm not a theist either but don't get on somebody's case for expressing good wishes in their own way. :)

Also, Congratulations to Angeltots! Hope all our interviews are as stress-free as yours and just think how stressed you were last night with the letter thing! Total 360!

In other news, my AP card production was ordered today. I can go on a hypothetical foreign holiday that I can't afford now! :D (Or more realistically, go to India if there is an emergency).

  6. Thanks slidingdoors! That's what we did. I called about an hour ago. It was pretty quick. They asked for a fax number s they can resend the form. We didn't have one. I said we have the email confirmation and if that's fine. She said that it is perfect and I can just bring that to the interview. NICE!!! This is the BEST reason in getting that email/text notification signed up!

HOORAY! :D:dance: I knew they would be reasonable about it.

All the best today. Like my theater colleagues say: Break a leg! :)

  7. I think it's at 11:10am. I can't find my hard copy interview letter!!!!

If you can't find it by the morning, call the USCIS and ask. You are not the first person to have lost your interview letter and you won't be the last.

Hello all, been a while since I've been here as things are going smoothly so far with our immigration. We went and did our biometrics in Detroit and it went good. Next up is our interview which is September 18th. I'm excited, but nervous at the same time.

Your NOA is three days after mine and I still don't have my interview date. :| This makes me grumpy.

Finally! We got a text today about EAD card in production!

You submitted three days after me so it gives me hope that mine might be on the way soon.

Can you tell I'm getting a little impatient for news....
