My fiance will be staying near the embassy and taking her medical. Which CFO office in Manila shouls she go to?
St. Mary Euphrasia Foundation-Center for Overseas Workers (SMEF-COW)
or
Citigold Center, 1345 Pres. Quirino Avenue
The Citigold Center looks closer but the COW has 3 classes per day.
Which one is easier to get to a lass?
SMEF-COW...no limit of attendees...

I just called NVC. After waiting for 30 minutes
I spoke to a lady and got our case number!
BPI branches here in Bulacan are open for half-day on Saturdays, but I'm not sure if I could pay for the visa fee... If I would be able to pay the visa fee, could I schedule for interview tomorrow or do I need to wait til Monday?
Congrats!!!

Check the example forms here at VJ for letter of intent to marry...She can follow that format...She need to sign it and mail to you coz they require original signature same as G-325a...Both of you need to submit the letter of intent to marry...

hi i just wanna ask if your uSC fiance can come with you during K1 interview? I mean like how close can he be ?
Sure he can...

Do any of the Adjustment of Status procedures require them to keep a birth certificate? I think they kept the one from our interview. We have another one, I got two. But am now wondering if I should have my fiancé get one or two more before she comes here, as it will be tricky to get once she's here.
She better take more copies with her...The cost is doubled when you request it online everytime she needs it..

Hi, my wife and I just finished our interivew and her NBI clearance says "NO RECORD ON FILE". They never asked about it and she was approved so no worries!
Awwww! Congratulations!
Thanks for the info...

Tnx for the update!

Yes for sure get extra copies of the Birth Certificate, I have read, from time to time, on here where someone will be asking the best way to get copies of their BC from stateside so it just seems logical to get extra copies before leaving the Phils.
Yep! To avoid hassle for sure in requesting from time to time when needed....

You haven't gotten your MNL # yet? OK here is the process we followed:
(yes I noticed your fiance is in Tucson (and soon you), that's why I made mention that we are in NW Tucson
)
Check on your embassy case number:
For the NVC:
Give them 7 - 10 days before calling. Call after 4:45 PM eastern time for shorter wait times
K1's are not tracked through the AVR, ever. They are processed like an immigrant visa, but they are NOT immigrant visas, so they fall into a completely different class of their own. Therefore you need an operator. To get there:
1-603-334-0700 Operator assistance is available Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 12:00 AM (Eastern Time)
Press 1 for English
Press 5 for an operator
NVC CONTACT INFORMATION:
Website: www.immigrantvisas.state.gov
E-mail: NVCInquiry@state.gov (I found NVC to be very quick responding to emails)
REQUIRED SECURITY INFORMATION:
You are required to provide the following security information with each inquiry to receive a case specific response:
* NVC Case Number or USCIS Receipt Number (Place in the subject line of the e-mail).
* Petitioner's name and date of birth.
( NOTE: If the visa petition is employment-based, include the employer's company/organization name instead of the petitioner's name and date of birth. )
* Principal Applicant's name and date of birth.
* If you are an attorney, include your name and the name and address of your law office.
After NOA2 AND YOU HAVE YOUR MNL # (don't need to wait for the letter from the embassy )
Once you have your MNL # you can take your passport and required visa fee (in Php) to BPI and pay your visa fee. The embassy website states that within 4 hours of paying at BPI you can schedule your interview appointment but most times it seems to take about 24 hours.
When scheduling online with the embassy you need to include the "XX" at the beginning of the passport number, your passport number IS your receipt number (normally).
Priorty Date; this is the date the NOA 1 was accepted.
Make sure to print two copies of the interview confirmation page as you will need one for St. Luke's and the other for the embassy.
(open all of these links then save them to your bookmarks so you have them for easy access)
Embassy:
The DS-156 can be difficult to complete sometimes, if you have issues try a different web browser. I had problems getting it to print with IE8, Chrome, Firefox, finally got it to print using Safari.

St. Luke's:
http://www.slec.ph/us-visa-applicants.shtml#required-docs
Have copies of passport bio page, confirmation page from scheduling interview online at embassy, and of course the 2X2 photos. (copy of annulment is asked for at times)
http://www.slec.ph/us/registration/
Preregister at St. Luke's, it saves time when you arrive.
CFO:
ALL exiting required to attend.
Required documents & "OTHER DOCUMENTS" they ask for at CFO: copies of; CENOMAR, certified birth certificate, bio page of passport, visa page from passport, pictures together, from USC - bio page of passport, birth certificate, divorce decree (if been married before) are the most common. The "other documents" clause can be ANYTHING with those nit-wits at CFO.
** From the Family Code of the Philippines: it's 21-25 years old for advice and 18-21 years old for consent.
Art. 14. In case either or both of the contracting parties, not having been emancipated by a previous marriage, are between the ages of eighteen and twenty-one, they shall, in addition to the requirements of the preceding articles, exhibit to the local civil registrar, the consent to their marriage of their father, mother, surviving parent or guardian, or persons having legal charge of them, in the order mentioned. Such consent shall be manifested in writing by the interested party, who personally appears before the proper local civil registrar, or in the form of an affidavit made in the presence of two witnesses and attested before any official authorized by law to administer oaths. The personal manifestation shall be recorded in both applications for marriage license, and the affidavit, if one is executed instead, shall be attached to said applications. (61a)
Art. 15. Any contracting party between the age of twenty-one and twenty-five shall be obliged to ask their parents or guardian for advice upon the intended marriage. If they do not obtain such advice, or if it be unfavorable, the marriage license shall not be issued till after three months following the completion of the publication of the application therefor.A sworn statement by the contracting parties to the effect that such advice has been sought, together with the written advice given, if any, shall be attached to the application for marriage license. Should the parents or guardian refuse to give any advice, this fact shall be stated in the sworn statement.
Thank you so much for all the information....

Yes. Someone here scheduled an interview on June 1 but when she got there the CO said they didn't have her files yet. So she went home, e-mailed the Embassy after a week and when they confirmed that they have her files already, she set another interview.
Go to facebook and join the group Pretty Ladies (VJ Members)
I sent request to join the group..tnx xette!

Sorry i was about to edit or delete my earlier post but i cannot do it anymore. So I am correcting it thru this one. The first one should be "No Derrogatory Record" and the second one should be "No Criminal Record". This is based on what was explained to me by an NBI chief in our locality.
But my NBI clearance and my daughter also shows "No Record on File", I would understand mine because I got hits under my name, but confused with my daughter because she has no record at all but just the same her NBI is "No Record on File".
I hope i didnt confuse everyone with my earlier posting, sorry i was not able to edit or delete the same. My apology.
Let me know pls. after you had your interview if it is a big deal or not having remarks as "No Record on File"
Thanks!

Don't get your NBI too soon, they may be valid for a year but the embassy has been known to ask for a "fresh" one if they are too old, why tempt an 221g? Wait until you get notice of the NOA2 then start gathering your NBI & CENOMAR. NSO is no issue for getting early (oh ya, on the topic of the Birth Certificate, get 5 or 6 copies so you have extras once you get stateside, you will need one from time to time)
Its a long day standing in line for the NBI and this time of year.... rain.
Wow! 5 or 6 copies...Its better then to be prepared...
Thanks!

Sometimes it appears when you're requesting NBI for overseas travel, it 'can' take more than a few hours. My fiancé had gotten an NBI for employment, and got it in a few hours. The one we needed for our interview took three weeks.
3 weeks? why it took that long? I had my NBI for travel abroad expired last year and i got in on the same day...
So it should be the purpose of NBI "Travel to US"? thats the one youre referring to that took for 3 weeks for the release?
-
You apply for NBI here in Iloilo instead, records are centralize so no need to get it from Laguna, and better if your NBI is
new, it will only take few hours here in iloilo to get NBI clearance, not sure in other location. or if you also need to get some
of your Documents like BC, CENOMAR. then process everything in one place.
Thanks VirtualLee...Where in Iloilo you from btw?

In the Philippines, after NOA2 at some point your fiancé will get a letter from the US Embassy that has the case number and instructions where to download the PDF file that is Packet 3. As others have noted, you do not need to wait for this. If you get the case number from calling NVC, you can get started long before that letter arrives (and for some it never arrives).
In Ph, you schedule your own interview. There is no schedule for medical, it's first come first serve, but you can 'pre-register' online and print out the registration, that will make it go faster. But you just show up first thing in the morning.
All in all, the system is pretty easy.
Get Case number from NVC
Pay at BPI and get receipt
Scehdule Interview online
Preregister medical online
Do Medical
Do Interview
Get Visa
Be Happy!
Thanks Mogambi! It's clear now...
But i have to make sure first that USEM has already my file/case before an online visa appointment...
Im the beneficiary...I know its still long way to go for us but better then to clarify everything beforehand to put things in order...
My fiance read a lot but sometimes written instructions are confusing so better ask someone who has experienced that went through the whole processed....
Very helpful especially for us who just start our journey...
Thanks a lot!

Manila embassy does not send out a packet, everything is online.

Hi Hank!
THanks for the info...I was thinking the embassy will be the one to schedule the interview after submission of the required docs or additional docs from the beneficiary and after you've done the medical...I have read in some members conversation just yesterday and she's done with her medical few days ago without visa appointment just the case #, that after getting case # you can now schedule yourself for medical
And i thougth online visa appointment is intended only for special cases like expedite with valid reason. etc..Correct me if im wrong...im confused!
I did bookmark important links..
Btw, my fiancee is from tucson also...

Yes, from what i saw in the VSC timeline some took only four months, i saw January and February filers being approved. Good luck to us!
Yep! Nothing is impossible! We can't do nothing for now but to wait...And trust HIm...
Btw, where are you in Manila?
-
I got NBI clearance 3 copies after we reach the two months...
Good-luck
Thanks Anne! Nice story huh!

This is what I got when I asked an NBI chief here in our locality regarding that annotation in the NBI clearance and this is what his answer was: The "No Record on File" shows that you have no criminal record at all, meaning you are clean from any criminal record since your birth. The "No Criminal Record" shows that you had previous cases before but was terminated or dismissed already. This one needs an explanation or sort of affidavit of what kind of cases did you have before and how it was terminated or dismissed. I helped one of a friend of mine regarding his work visa in Canada, and he has previous cases of vehicular accident cases way back 70's and was dismissed already. We prepared an explanation or affidavit of the circumstances of that case and how it was terminated or dismissed. His NBI clearance has "No Record on File" annotation. I hope this would help you.
Thanks for the info...Now i know what does it mean. I did check your timeline and we're almost the same...
We just filed late May...I'm looking forward for our quick NOA2

Not together quite yet, she arrives August 8th
Ours is green too. The one from 2011 says 'Valid for Travel Abroad' but the one from 2012 says 'For Travel to US'. Probably they asked her what it was for, and she told them K1 Visa and so they put that. I believe as long as it's green (not yellow) and says something about travel to US or abroad, you will be totally fine.
Oh i see...Better then coz she has already her visa...
I guess really need to specify the purpose of getting it to be safe...
If you dont mind me asking this, she got her visa around May if im not mistaken? Why it takes a couple of months for her to come to US? sorry for asking im just wondering why...
Joint income and assets
in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
Posted
This is the situation...They plan to get married and file for spousal visa. But the petitioner has no sufficient income, in short below poverty level...While the beneficiary has good job and assets (Quebec)...Do they need a co sponsor or they can just combine their income and assets to meet the 125% above poverty level since they will going to file a spousal visa?
Hope you can enlighten us regarding this matter...
Im posting in behalf of other person...thanks!
