  1. Guys, not sure if this is the right place to posts so please move to somewhere else if applicable.

I applied for citizenship in Feb 2016 (without receiving 10 year green card) and had the interview today. The interviewer calls me, sees my USC wife with me and DEMANDS that she come in as well. Very rude.

We get inside and he starts to question that we applied for the ROC and then the Citizenship without receivingg the ROC. He then proceeds to ask my wife questions about our marriage. She was asleep in the waiting room as we had to wait about 90 mins before we got called. She answered most questions but fluffed a few others which I am sure raised suspicions.

He looked at some evidence I carried (taxes, bank statements, bills etc) then made a copy of them and said a decision cant be made today on the ROC. I beleive he said wait to be contacted ABOUT ANOTHER INTERVIEW to close out the ordeal.

So questions: Is it bad to apply for N400 without receving 10 year green card? I was advised it was ok to do that on here as it would speed up the process?

Is it normal for the us citizen to be called in? That seemed so out of the blue and we were 100% not prepared for that

If we gt another interview, its probably going to be a stokes right? Would the letter let us know, or do we just have to assume thats whats goingon?

We have suspicions that we had a negative interaction with the interviewer in the past, in the real world, as in not related to anything immigration.

That may explain his overly hostile nature. Is there anything we can do with this knowledge because like I said, the hostility was ridiculous and we

beleive the questioning may have been personal driven.

  2. so update on mine. Its now been 12 months since my receipt date.

I called and spoke to a tier 2. She said based on their records, I applied for citizenship in February (I DID) and that means they will make a decision on both at the same time. Is that the way it works?

So i tell her my green card extension expires in two weeks and I need to continue to work plus this is keeping me back from getting some required licenses for said job because they need current work authrization docs. She says make an info pass appointment to get another extension, can I do that?

And then to top things off, there are NO APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE so what am I supposed to do now?

Someone told me I could call my congress rep and they can help so I may do that since I cant even get an appointment online.

  3. Totally understanding your frustration Gannicus. You passed 11.5 months, I passed 10.5 months myself. May '15 VSC thread has 50% of cases still pending. However, June applicants started to post their approval notices recently. It is frustrating for all of the VSC applicants. Unfortunately there is no way of learning what is going on until that stupid official processing time passes our NOA date. God knows why our cases are still pending, lazy officer? folder forgotten somewhere? some other issue? who knows. Hopefully you will hear something very soon like nitehero did but if not, the next processing time update for sure will be beyond your NOA date. Be ready to call the customer service and talk to a Tier 2 officer, once the next timeline updates.

I also saw you mentioned your naturalization application is in, how long is the wait at your local office for N400s?

Hey thanks man. I hope to hear soon. I dont even know where to find out the processing time updates lol. I have no idea about the N400 either but I already did my biometrics and the lady said it takes about 5-6 months for that.

  4. Yeah sure. My wife is the USC. We walked in, did the oath then the officer asked me for my passport and what I did (school), how do I pay for it (full scholarship) and when last I entered the country.

That was it for me, everything else was towards my wife. The questions included were how met, when, apartment or house, landlord's name, cost of rent, asked wifey where she works, any children. In between she asked if we had a lease which we then gave to her. After some more questions she asked about bank account, which we gave to her then. Asked about big or small wedding and then for pictures, which we then gave to her.

    And that was it.

    It wasn't even 15 minutes.

  5. Hey all

Had my AOS interview yesterday in NYC. Obviously its only natural to be super nervous but it went well and was over in 15 minutes. The IO gave us a form saying we will hear from them in the future regarding the decision.

I checked online last night and it says "On May 8, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status."

Does this mean we have been approved?

    Thank You

  6. Hey,

We have our interview next Wednesday. As far as evidence goes we have joint tax returns, health insurance, lease, joint bank statements and pictures. I am the beneficiary and my wife moved in with me after we got married.

Now we have a roommate and before the marriage the bills were on my name. I never added my wife because well we don't live alone at the moment and I didn't see the need. Can I still go with the electric bill as evidence even though she is not on it?

    Thanks

  7. Hello,

Yes its an old policy that expired. It was slightly to expensive for us at the moment. I am getting my masters and don't have a job just yet. I only get a small stipend from the school. I rarely drive the car so to save money we took my name off. Would you recommend just not going with the old policy at all?

We plan to update it once I get started at work in June (I already have a job offer since November). On that note, will the job offer letter be beneficial to go with as well?

    Thank You

  8. Hey all,

I posted a couple days ago about being worried about receiving my EAD card but I finally got it on April 4th, then on April 5th I received the letter informing about the AOS interview on May 8th.

The evidence that we have currently to show are: joint tax returns, joint bank accounts, joint health insurance, rental agreement, and pictures. Is there anything else that would be valuable to go along with?

For example I have a job offer with a Big Four Accounting Firm starting in June after I graduate from my masters program. Would it be beneficial to go with the offer letter? I appreciate any advice on what else we should go with (I am the beneficiary)

    Thank You

  9. Hey all,

Submitted my AOS paperwork on Dec 31st, 2012. Did the biometrics on Jan 23rd 2013. We ran into some issues financially and needed a co-sponsor. The co-sponsor information was mailed in around February 25th 2013.

I checked online a couple days ago and it says our case is in testing and interview stage. I am confused about the next steps in the process.

Do I have to wait for an interview date before I get my EAD card or will the EAD card come before that. I also called the help line and the lady requested a receipt number so she could look up the EAD card status. The thing is, since we started the process all of the correspondence received only had one receipt number, which references our case. How can I find out more about the EAD card? I only ask because I landed a job starting in June and I was just wondering time wise.

    Thanks All
