IF you are purchasing the ticket. Make sure you send him a paper with a copy of your ID and front and back of the card. I did this with my then fiance now wife whenever I bought the tickets for her. Some airlines may or may not require it, but it's better to be safe than sorry. I just scanned that stuff and emailed her the paper so she could print it off for like 20-40 pesos at a computer shop.

That is not true. I filed DCF on a tourist visa with just my driver's licenses to prove residency. I filed May 9th, 2012 and my wife and I are now in the US. The only requirement to file DCF is 6 months of residence. They don't care which visa you are on.
