  1. Thanks for the replys. Fingerprinting was done in early December. They scheduled that pretty fast after we filed. We didn't realize we had forgotten them until much later than that. I was going over the paperwork and asked him why we still had the photos and thats when we knew what we had done or should I say NOT done. So I guess we will just wait for that yellow envelope.

  2. I'm Debra married to Hassan from Morocco. We will be married 6 years on April 5, 2009. He's been in the USA with me since December 2003 and we've had a pretty easy time of it. We had a religious ceremony in Morocco but didn't make it legal there so I could file a K1 visa which worked really well. I filed in May 03 and he was approved about 5 months later. He got his visa in December 03 and caught the next plane here. We did a civil ceremony here with my mom, who was a magistrate judge, marrying us. We filed for citizenship in November and are now waiting for the interview. Hopefully we'll be finished dealing with immigration soon. I lurk more than I post but do enjoy reading everyones stories.

  3. Atlanta is a good POA. My husband came through Atlanta in 2003 from Morocco and the immigration agents were so nice to him. He said even though it took a long time to get through it, they were talking to him and welcoming him to Atlanta. Pretty much giving him lots of southern hospitality. It really gave him a good first impression of the people in the USA.

Well I called Customs in Atlanta airport to see what Ahmed would need when he gets to USA for his Port of Entry.

The guy was really nice and said all he needs is his Passport with the visa stamp and the envelope from the embassy sealed (unopened).

I also asked if they provided the temporary employment authorization document....unfortunately he said no they do not do that anymore there :crying::crying:

But it is nice to know he does not need to worry about anything else.

  4. Hi,

We just did this and it is so easy. The consulate had actually lost my husbands id card a couple of years ago when he tried to register. So here is how it goes. We went to the consulate in New York and they took care of everything and was finished in about an hour. He extended his passport, registered with the consulate and they sent for him another moroccan id card. He got his passport back right then but the id card had to be sent to Rabat and it takes about 8 weeks to get it back. We also never registerd our marriage at the consulate and still haven't. We decided to do that on another trip to New York.

According to the moroccan consulate website if you don't have your national id card you have to go to the consulate to do all of this but if you do then you can do it by mail. However, when my husband tried to register by mail and sent his id card to the consulate they lost it, so my advice would be if you can go to New York do it in person.

    Hello fellow MENA folks,

Has anyone with a Moroccan spouse tried to extend or renew their passport from here in the states? My husband's passport expires in 2009, and we're wondering how long it takes, whether it is a smooth process, etc.

We did look on the Moroccan consulate's web page, and they had kinda contradictory information on there...on the one hand it says it takes about 10 days, on the other hand, it says to apply early, and that it can be done up to 18 months in advance. Hmm...

Also, we never registered my husband with the consulate or registered our marriage with the consulate. I hope that is not a problem. Also, I think that we will need to apply for a "family book," since we have a baby on the way.

Have those of you with kids registered the birth of your children with the consulate, or have you applied for a Moroccan passport for your little ones? I wonder if it is necessary, or if they are ok with just an American passport?

Sorry this is such a random post. Lots of questions and I'm not in the mood to edit right now :star: .

    Have a happy Friday,

    Carolyn
