  1. Has any one used Hawaiin Airlines to bring there fiance to the Usa? They have good fares for the dates Im planning her travel and after calling customer service they allow third party credit cards to purchase tickets online with no need to show credit card when checking in on flights from the Philippines.

Flight is Manila to San Francisco . Layover in Honululu hawaii

    1. Is POE in Honolulu for this flight? or San Francisco

    2. If it is in Honolulu the layover is only 1 hr 50 minutes would that be long enough?

    3. Did you in fact not have to show credit card like I was told on the phone ?

  2. During my fiances medical she met a girl from her province. They became friends and have been keeping in contact because their interviews for K1 visa are both coming up mid October. My fiance is waiting for all our important docs to arrive via Fedex which is scheduled to arrive Mon Oct 8. She planned to attend CFO on Weds Oct 10 after she received all our docs. Her friend was attending her CFO seminar on Thurs Oct 4 because her interview is on the 11th. My fiance lives in Manila so she decided to go to the CFO with her friend. She planned just to go check it out , see how bad the lines were, get a idea of how early she needs to be there, and support her friend. The night before she called and told me that she would just try to do the seminar with the docs she has and if they asked for anything else she could just come back since its not hard for her because she lives in Manila.I didn't like the idea after reading all the bad experiences in the past but I could tell she really wanted to go try. Finally I agreed.

Oct 4 is on a Thursday so there is only a morning CFO Seminar with 30 slots available from 9 am to 12 pm. She arrived at 5:30 am because she wasn't worried if she didn't get a slot because she could just attend next week when she had all her docs. She was 7th inline at 5:30am. The class did not fill up and there were only 18 0ut of the 30 slots taken in the class.

She said the people at CFO were very nice and she had a good experience. This is what documents she was asked for to attend the seminar.

    1. Appointment letter for her Interview at USEM.(Wanted anything proving she had interview to get visa)

    2. Two (2) valid identification cards (IDs) with photograph and copy of each .(She used her passport and ID from NBI)

She completed forms and was never asked for any other documents. The CFO has wifi and she was able to message and call me on viber the entire time to the point that seminar starts. We continue chatting while she is waiting for seminar to start. Finally she tells me that the seminar will start and she will message me when its over. She starts the seminar but the messages never stop. She tells me that everyone is taking photos with there phones instead of taking notes so she can still chat with me and that the counselor doesn't seem to mind. She isn't messaging the whole time but is messaging, sending pics to me of things going on and the other girls in seminar. Its often enough that I'm telling her to pay attention so she doesn't get in trouble but she says it alright. She seems to be having a good time and I'm wondering if this is the same CFO I have read about. This goes on the entire seminar. Finally its time for her one on one counseling session.

The one on one counseling session took 10 minutes. The focus of the counselor during this session was on the fact that I was divorced twice and one was to a filipina. The counselor warned her its not a good idea and she needs to really think before marrying a man like me. My fiance tells her side of why she wants to marry me and the counselor says she believes her. The session is over in 10 minutes.

The dreaded Other documents as may be required by the counselors were a couple pictures. The counselor never asked for one single document from me or my fiance. The entire seminar the only things asked for were the pictures, appt letter and 2 Valid IDS with copies. My fiance said the CFO was very easy and a good experience and she didn't see any of the girls that day having any difficulty at all.

After the counseling session she waited for her certificate. The certificate was finally issued about 12:45 pm..She will just have to go by and get the sticker/stamp after getting her visa. This was only written to tell that not all experiences are bad at the CFO. If you saw the packet I sent for CFO in that Fedex package that will arrive Monday you would understand how nervous I was about the CFO. I strongly suggest you be prepared and bring all the required documents and suggested by others. Lastly even though the CFO experience was good I wish they would abolish it. My fiance said its useless and very elementary.

  3. I just made appointment monday Sept 17 and the soonest appointment i was able to get that day was Oct 19 2012. There were many dates available in November also. I didnt try to keep refreshing the schedule to see if a sooner appointment would come up. I just accepted Oct 19 on first attempt.

  4. Dolly n dan, I'll be watching out for yours, nothing tonight then?

As for wedding dress shopping, there's too much choice - going to settle for something very British and simple x

Nothing yet. I was doing pretty well accepting it was going to be a long process but now with all the May approvals and now yours in June its hard not to get excited. Congrats to you that is really great . Our timeline was identical up until now lol

  5. I bought my fiance magic Jack plus and a laptop for her home. Depending on where she lives you can get her and yourself a Android Phone or IPhone. I have unlimited data with sprint. I bought her a smart Bro stick with WiFi. Some areas the globe tattoo stick with WiFi works better. You can also just buy the non WiFi stick which is cheaper and place the sim in her android phone. When around WiFi at home or mall you can just connect to it also. We use Skype , Yahoo, and Viber. You can text back and forth on Viber or message on ym or Skype all day free. It is amazing how you can talk and text for free all day long. Viber is amazing but the app does crash a bit but we just call right back.Works awesome for us. We literally call and text all day long for free. There is the occasions when her internet is a little sketchy but can't beat it for all the free calls and text.

  6. Wasn't laughing at your advice, was laughing at the FACT the CO totally messed up with the intent to marry within 90s and even forgot to ask for the letters....

I apologize for being overly sensitive. I just got back from visiting my fiance a couple weeks ago and just starting this process again has me on edge. I'm less than 2 weeks in and already missing my fiance. Going through it once before was enough. I thought it might be easier having experienced it before. Nope it is just as painful being apart. Just found out I'm getting 4 days off soon so I'm going to fly back and spend two days with her. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

  7. This is funny.... anyone want our "new improved" letters of intent? Embassy never asked for them so they are still sitting in a folder. And the CO even forgot to ask my wife if she intented to marry during the interview, we had barely sat down and he called her back to the window to ask her that question.

This is my second time going through this process . I was with my first Filipina wife for 10 years and went through entire process , she is now a US Citizen. Over the years I have helped many people go through this process . I was also lucky enough to meet a gentlemen many years ago who has been married to his lovely Filipina bride for over 30 years. He prepares peoples paperwork for every aspect of the process from the I-129F through Citizenship. He specializes in the Philippines and has seen just about everything possible. I just try to help people when I give advice through real life experience, not Urban legends I read about on the internet.

I agree with everyone above that most couples have very little trouble and most supporting docs you bring to interview will not even be looked at and remain in your folder. Unfortunately not every situation is the same. There are many factors , A guy who goes to the interview with his fiance ,has all his paperwork filled out perfectly, visited his fiance many times or for a substancial amount of time will breeze through. Now on the other side from a actual real life case and using Scuffydogs example below.

I agree with with Scruffydog's post above about most problems arising from " lack of proof of income-That is number 1, NBI cert problems, medical problems, CENOMAR problems, criminal history problems. prior marriage problems, Prior K-1 problems"

A few years ago my brother went on a trip to Davao City with me and my wife at the time. While there on our last 7 days of vacation he met and fell in love with my wife at the times niece. They had never met prior to our trip. As soon as we got back to America we filed their I-129F K1 Petition. They were approved by USCIS with no RFE because they met the requirements of Citizenship, both legal to marry, and having met in person within two years. The only evidence supplied was what they had. That pictures , airline boarding passes and letters if intent. No problems approved.

Where they had problems was at the interview. My brother had been unemployed for 3 years with no tax returns or proof of income. He did get a job 4 months before the interview and saved his paycheck stubs. He did not want to use a co sponsor even though we advised him to do so. His income on paychecks if you muliplied the 4 months x 3 would still be a little under the Poverty guidelines but it was close.. He filled out the I-134 and only had the paystubs included and employment letter. During interview his fiance was asked many questions, she was asked for pictures and the officer looked at many. His fiance was asked if she had any secondary evidence to support her ongoing relationship. She supplied her chat logs, money remittances, and the " new improved letter of Intent to marry" from my brother. This continued through the pre interview and interview. They repeatedly looked at the evidence and asked his fiance if she planned to work once she was able in the USA. She answered "Yes" they looked at the evidence again . The officer asked you do know that you must get married within 90 days of entering the United States. She answered "yes" and they approved her. Her evidence of a bonafide relationship helped her in this case. Not all cases are the same. I don't know people in the internet's situation so I always advise on worst case possiblities.

Honestly how long does it take to go into your docs and change the date and address on your original letter of Intent, print and sign it. 2 minutes? I would rather have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Another thing I like to do is have the pictures in a easy access envelope paper clipped on top of all your other proof of relationship docs in a neat package not to thick , organized with tabs labeling the docs . When interview asks if you have pictures, answer yes "maam or sir" I do right here along with other evidence or something similar. They will 99% of the time see that your prepared and glance at the pictures and not even look at anything else.

The bottom line is ,I'm just sharing my experiences and not sure why you would want to laugh at my advice. You can take my advice or leave it, after all it is your interview. I'm just trying to help. It is beyond me why some would advise on bringing minimal evidence . When you can print it up in a few minutes and have it just in case you do have some problem and are one of the unfortunate fiances who gets asked for it. It can make a difference in some cases. If it stays in your folder that is even better.

  8. Here is the link to requirements for the K1 Interview at the US Embassy in Manila. You can find every thing you will need to prepare here:

    http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/19452/public/Revised%20K1%20Instruction%20Packet%20_3__rtf2_005.pdf

    J. EVIDENCE OF A GENUINE ENGAGEMENT. You must be prepared to prove to the consular officer that you have a genuine relationship with your petitioner and a clear intention to marry within 90 days of admission into the U.S. In the past, successful applicants have submitted photographs, letters, e-mails, phone records, bank records, and remittance records as evidence supporting their relationships and *intent to marry.

*Intent to marry will be a updated letter, Similar to the one's you sent with the original I-129 Petition only signed and dated close to the interview. Difference is only US Citizen needs a Letter of Intent as foreign fiance can verbally agree to intent and address the letter to the Consulate. As found here:

    http://www.visajourney.com/examples/Fiance_Letter_of_Intent.doc

  9. The Consulate at US Embassy in Manila will almost always look at your pictures. They can ask to see anything they want. You will definitely want to bring your picture album to the interview. Pictures are one of the most common things the Consul will ask to see. The pictures would be pretty small to fit 6 on one page. Maybe 2 4x6 per page would be better . I sent the clearest 4x6 photos I had , pics in different clothes ,locations and a couple with friends, family and US together in every photo of course. I sent 8 total pics, the very best quality I had that you could see us crystal clear. Marking dates and description is helpful but many do not and have zero problems.

  10. Hi Jim & Julie,

That's really cool. Our Service Center and timeline is almost identical. It will be great to be able to follow your timeline. Hopefully we are lucky and get approved in under the 5 month projection. I'll do my best to keep my timeline updated. Good luck!!!!
