There's not a person here who doesn't understand what you are going through. We all empathize, and urge you to be strong. Try different things. I presume you are in daily contact, via IM, Skype, or some such device. First and foremost: study the guides here and be prepared with your required forms and evidence. You can never start too soon!!! Remember that there is a day in your future that will be your wedding day...only God knows what day it is right now, but each morning when you wake up you will know that you are one day closer to it. This is what I tell myself every day. Talk to your fiancee about your plans. About your journey. About the various forms and types of evidence you must submit. Work together. You will have a roller coaster life with ups and downs every day, but in the end you will know that you have a relationship that can withstand ANYTHING!!!!
So just focus on the future and know that your day, as will all of ours, will come!

Thank you for the information. I followed the link in your message and it seems to say that (1) you can download the application and fill it out, then print it, (2) bring it to the Argentine embassy nearest to you, pay the fee, provide your ID and fingerprints, and (3) wait the required time and then upload your police certificate to your computer.
My question is this: At my fiancee's embassy interview, will they accept this printed certficate? If anyone knows....

if you live here in Argentina, it is really easy.
it takes 5 days if you want to pay a few pesos, and only 6 hours if you want to pay more pesos =p

Regards.
Thanks. Problem is my fiancee lives in Kiev and will have to deal with the Argentine embassy there. I am not sure of the procedures.

Hello all,
Has anyone here had to obtain a police certificate from Argentina? How difficult is it, and how long does it take?
thanks
-
Did they say it was undergoing additional processing?
No, just said it'd been received (didn't say what day and I didn't think to ask) and gave me the case number.

Hello all,
Well, I called NVC and they have received my I-129F package and assigned me a case number.
I gave them my fiancee's email address just in case.
I'm not sure what I was expecting...guess I will get my interview package together and wait to hear from the embassy. I spoke with a very nice woman at NVC and after she gave me the case number she asked if there was anything else. I didn't know what else to ask!!! So I just said no, thanks, have a nice day.
DId I miss anything???

Earlier today I received the hard copy of our NOA2 in the mail. My fiancee lives in Kiev, 10 hours ahead of me. So while she slept, I scanned it and emailed it to her. About 30 minutes ago she woke up and, prior to getting ready for work, she sent me a message on Skype...but then, after she opened her email, she called me, on video, still half asleep but with a smile on her face and a look of happiness that I will never forget. All she said was "I liked that email."
So all the stress is worth it. And it's good to know that we are all making this journey "together" here on VJ.

thanks everyone. I found an old thread and apparently this is just how the notice is worded. Service centers do not send petitions directly to the consulate. Everything goes through the NVC. But it is a "routing" thing...As far as the service center is concerned, they have sent the packet to the consulate by way of the NVC. Now it makes sense.
By the way, I read the entire notice and it got me thinking. The last paragraph is their standard notice that they reserve the right to verify the information submitted in the application, etc. etc. You know, when we begin this K1 visa journey, we think only about our own situations, and the situation of those similarly situated. I for one have never considered it from the USCIS point of view. But there is an entirely different world out there since 9/11. There are people all over the world who want to do us harm. And in order for them to do it, they have to come here. And now I see the impossible position that USCIS has to occupy. Do their best to screen the people trying to get in, while at the same time do their best to accommodate those of us who are legitimate and just want to get on with our lives.
Just gives me a different perspective. Thanks again for the input, everyone. This site is truly a wonderful resource for calm in a stress filled period of our lives!

Hello all,
I'm probably just being "#######," but I received the hard copy of my NOA2 today and it says "The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate."
I suppose this means that they routed it to NVC for forwarding to the embassy, right? Because it says to contact the consulate with any questions, but there is no mention of the National Visa Center.
Guess I'm just confused, as always.
thanks

Congratulations!!! Good luck with the rest of the journey....

Wow, never heard of Viber before...I would be ashamed to confess how much I spend each month on long distance calls....

Well I was sitting here reading the responses to my last post and I received an email from USCIS...of course, my heart jumped...but it said APPROVED!!!!
So for those of you still waiting, here is the time it took: 127 days to RFE notice on 7/25
I received the RFE in the mail on 7/28
I mailed the RFE back to CSC on 7/30
They received it on 7/31
They emailed me notice of approved petition on 8/3.
I think that is incredibly fast work and I want to thank CSC BIG TIME!!!!
Now it's on the next step, whatever that is....
And yes, I telephoned my fiancee' immediately even though I knew she'd be sound asleep because she doesn't have to work today! And she didn't mind being awakened....
-
Wow. Guess there's no doubt. Thank you very much, everyone...
I wish I'd found this site BEFORE I filed my petition.
Thanks again!!!

Hello all,
I would like my fiancee to use her existing tourist visa to visit me in the US after we receive our NOA2 (seems like forever!). I know she will be interviewed by a CBP officer at the port of entry here in Los Angeles. I am wondering if it's of any value for me to write a brief, one page letter explaining our plan for her to visit here while we wait for her embassy interview date and prepare the various packages that she will have to bring. We will both return to Kiev for the interview and wait there until her K1 is issued.
Has anyone here ever written a letter to the CBP on behalf of their visiting fiancee or fiance?
thanks
PS wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the tourist visa section but it seemed more appropriate in K1....

Question 18 is entirely and only about the requirement that you've met within the past two years. Read the instructions on the form:
18. Has your fiancé(e) met and seen you within the two-year period immediately receding the filing of this petition?[ ]Yes [ ]NoDescribe the circumstances under which you met. If you have not personally met each other, explain how the relationship was established. If you met your fiancé(e) or spouse though an international marriage broker, please explain those circumstances in Question 19 below. Explain also in detail any reasons you may have for requesting that the requirement that you and your fiancé(e) must have met should not apply to you."If you have not personally met each other, explain how the relationship was established.
They only want to know how your relationship began if you have NOT personally met each other.
"If you met your fiancé(e) or spouse though an international marriage broker, please explain those circumstances in Question 19 below."
Question 19 is for explanations about meeting through a marriage broker. They don't want you explaining that here.
"Explain also in detail any reasons you may have for requesting that the requirement that you and your fiancé(e) must have met should not apply to you."
Again, they only care if you've met within the past two years. If you didn't, and you're asking for a waiver, then they want a detailed explanation why you think you should get a waiver.
You have to submit evidence to support question 18. The explanation they want should describe the evidence you've submitted. If you submit evidence of a trip then describe that trip. When did you arrive? When did you first see your fiancee? Where did you stay? What did you do? When did you return? The more self-explanatory your evidence is, the less detailed your explanation needs to be unless you're frontloading for a difficult consulate.
Again, they are not asking how your relationship started. They are asking you to describe the meeting that satisfies the two year requirement.
Thank you. This explains it all. I just found the instructions a little susceptible to different meanings. Too much thinking....

Well, being that we've met three times, I started my letter with the beginning of my first trip: I flew from LAX to Kiev via Paris etc.. She met me at the airport. We taxi'd to the certain hotel. We spent that evening together, and the next two days and evenings. I included my boarding pass, hotel bill, dated photos of us at the hotel, and a copy of my entire passport that shows three entries/exits into/out of the country. I also included boarding passes for the second trip. The third trip occurred after I filed my petition so I left it out.
So I guess we'll see what happens. I want to thank all of you...this question about explaining how we originally met only if we never met in person makes sense. It's just that when you read the instructions it seems it can be interpreted two ways. But I have focused on the fact of our face to face meetings.
thanks again!!!!!
-
So, they are not asking how we met? I mean, whether we were introduced by a mutual friend, or met online, etc.? This is all about the first meeting in person? This is what has me confused.
-
Hi everyone,
I received a RFE that seems to be asking for different versions of the same thing. Or not. First, it says "It must be established that the petitioner and beneficiary have met in person and/or have been in each other's physical presence at any time during the two years immediately preceding the filing of this petition."
Now that's pretty clear. I initially submitted airline tickets and hotel bills with a photo of us in the hotel. BUT...
The next paragraph says "Circumstances of Meeting - Submit information regarding the circumstances under which the petitioner and beneficiary met to establish the relationship." ???? Does this mean that they want to know how we met? As opposed to when we met in person???
My fiancee is freaking out because we met online. Not through a marriage broker, just a site where you could post a profile. I told her that's not a big deal, as I supposed many people meet online these days. Anyway, anyone have any input on how I should respond to this?
THANKS

Well, for everyone's info...
My NOA 1 date was March 20th, and today, July 25th, I received notice of a RFE. I am resolved to just do what they want and give them what they request. The tough part is I received notice via email but I have no idea what they want, until I receive the notice in the mail!!!
But this will give you an idea of how fast they are processing at CSC...127 days today. good luck, everyone. I'm hanging in there....

Hello all,
Like many of you, I look at the timelines every day. Okay, maybe two or three times a day. But there is something I don't understand.
It shows that the CSC or VSC are processing cases from a certain day. For instance, today it says CSC is processing cases with NOA1 dates of March 7. That's 138 days.
But when I view my own timeline, it says my petition should be adjudicated within a date range that is 126-134 days from my NOA1 date. How are these estimates made? Anyone know?
Thanks!!!

Hello all,
My fiancee and I are waiting for our NOA2. After it is received, we would both like for her to visit me here in the US on her tourist visa. Our plan is for her to visit for about two months, and then we will both return to Ukraine where she will have her medical and we will both attend her embassy interview.
To help with her entry here, I thought I would provide her with our NOA1 receipt and a letter, from me, stating our plans.
Has anyone done this? Will CBP consider a letter that I write if she presents it at POE?
thanks.

Well, my fellow VJ'ers, it happened.
My fiancee lives in Kiev and, because she was in Buenos Aires for nine months in 2000, she has to provide a police certificate from Argentina.
Today she called the Argentinian embassy in Kiev and was told that it takes a year. And she doesn't want to wait any more. We've already been through NOA1, NOA2, NVC....and she is stressed out. And so am I.
It doesnt help that when I turned on the news this morning the lead story was that children of illegal immigrants are lining up to register for their "amnesty" program.
I can't even say how horrible this is.
