Thanks Linda,
This guide is really very very helpful. I will check out how much time does i 131 will take. I have one more problem, my wife will work in Minneapolis (she is facing difficulty in finding a job in my city) until I get my EAD and try for a job at some common location where she can work. So our addresses will be different. i hope it shouldn't be an issue.
Let's hope for the best.
Any idea if we can postpone the schedule green card interview (in case if I am out of country at that time)?
you can reschedule your interview, shouldn't be a problem

Here is the guide for you:
http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2
Read carefully, I only used this guide and did it myself with no problems.
If you make mistake, they will give you chance to fix it.
But I don't know what kind of mistakes you are talking about.
Just remember always be honest with them.
BTW you can file I131 and not use it, not a problem.

Read the step by step instruction, if you see anything that's is very difficult to do, you can hire an attorney.

That's more than enough if you ask me. I have joint bank account, joint utility, health insurance, dental insurance, auto insurance for both cars showing each other as drivers and lots of pictures( dating, wedding, movies, cook out with friends and goofy at home pics) I hope that's enough for now. We'll have a lot more in 2 yrs I guess..
Oh, speaking of the insurance! After we got married he tried to add my name to his insurance and also claim for the physical we paid out of our pocket. So we brought all the receipts and marriage certificate to his company. And we assumed they have everything they need. A month later we got a call from the insurance company said they never gotten our marriage certificate so I can't be added to his policy. then we just forgot about all this. So now I don't have joint insurance to bring to the interview
BTW your evidences looking good! I am sure we both will do well!
-
You have the most compelling stuff though, financial and pictures. I brought about 10 cards from various events but forgot to show them to the interviewer.
Oh well, it all worked out.
I'm not worried about you at all, Linda. You'll be fine.
I just hope they approve you on the spot. I had to wait 3 hours and I was a basket case. I don't know how people keep their sanity when they have to wait days or even longer.
Thanks! Feel much better now!
The funny thing is we are leaving for Vegas for friend's birthday that weekend, and I told my husband it will be a great weekend since we will get to celebrate my GC too! He looked at me doubtfully and said "oh man, let's hope you get approve on the spot, or you gonna ruin the whole vegas trip with your phone in hand every second checking status and cry about it"

You can bring both and just explain the situation to them. I doubt they'll ask for it though but you never know. Usually they would change your address and give it back the same day but I guess it depends on where you live too...
What evidence do you have? I don't have much...
Yea, you can do change of address right away with a sticker in the back of you license. But I order a duplicate one.
Cost me $25 and took so freaking long
I don't have much evidence either.
28 pics plus his family album that has our pictures in it.
2 years apartment least; joint House contract for our recently bought house; joint bank account since March; Phone bill since April 2011 that has both of our numbers on it but only his name; two cards from his family members after the wedding.
That's about it.

Hey Linda, there is no need to be stressed. You are not required to bring your driver license to the interview. Your passport is enough for identification. Your hubby will need his DL or State ID or PP. The address on my DL is also different but I'm not worried about changing it right now because I have to change my name on it after I get my GC so I decided to wait. I'm taking my DL with me on that day only because I will be driving since hubby will be super crabby so early in the morning..
So quit worrying now lady...
You'll be fine....
Thanks! I am bringing my DL just in case she asked if I have one, coz I've been in this country for 5 years so I think they will probably ask about it. And apparently I can't say "I don't have one" or "I do have one but I didn't bring it".
The hubby suggested instead of bringing the old license, I should bring the new temporary DL with my new address on it which is just a piece of paper.
What do you think?

I am so stressed out with my driver license.
I moved in with my hubby 2 years ago but never changed my address.
After reading about different addresses on DL can cause trouble, I went to applied a new DL with my new address matching my hubby's.
It's been 2 months and I haven't gotten it yet. So I called, and turns out my application didn't go thought because my legal status.
I used my student status to applied the new DL, I am still going to school so I assumed it should work, but it didn't.
So I gave them my EAD and social today, but I doubt i will get it before the interview
Sigh! Hopefully its just me being paranoid about the DL issue.

Done. Added to Spreadsheet.
Also a new row called "today is your day #"
I had read that page too, when someone asked about the benefit center in some other post. so, from chicago it goes there if it needs an interview.
not necessarily, from Chicago every cases go to NBC. After that it goes either CSC or local office.
As long as you are not adjusting from K1 visa, you will definitely have an interview and will finish your journey way faster than CSC.

Out of curiosity, I just checked the status of our case and it was updated today: Card production in the mail! YES!
I believe that means approval? Yes, No? so confusing after today's interview.
Of course yes. Congrats!
-
OMG, I can't beleive it!!! USCIS just updated my I-485 status with Card/ Document Production
On September 6, 2012, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you.
At this point, I was waiting for a transference to CSC or an interview, what is more usual! But none of this happened, which is really good! Happy dance
It's about time!!! Congrats!!!

further review is pretty normal. They just have to make sure they got everything they want.
-
you won't get a new I-94. The notice of action shows that you are legally staying in the country.
-
EAD approved without bio appointment?
Weird but congrats!
I think eventually you will still have to get your fingerprints taken.
-
your interview location and time will be on the letter. just wait for it
-
sooo. do any of you know once i/you receive our EAD card, do we then apply for a social security number before we can work? does the number come with it as a temp. number seeing how were not LPR's yet? any ideas?
No, SSN is permanent, you won't get another number once you get your greencard.
And yes, I think you need social before you can work so the employer can pay you.
-
Agree. Wait for the RFE.
-
I think you only need to take care of your nephew. Coz you are signing this paperwork for your nephew not for his wife.
The purpose of I-864 is:
To show that the applying immigrant has enough financial support to live without concern of becoming reliant on U.S. government welfare.
Which means as long as your nephew is not becoming an public charge, you are fine.
If the wife and the son (American citizens) need financial help, their government should take care of it, not you.
-
does only the "intending immigrant" has to go to bio appointment, or both spouses?
I went by myself.
There is not much thing the USC can do there, only if you need somebody to drive or translate for you.
Your status after bio appointment won't change, not until you get RFE or Interview notice.
Also, my paperwork says MSC and I have an MSC application number. Does that mean I don't have to worry about my stuff going to CSC or VSC?
If you didn't come with K1 visa You will definitely have an interview at your local office.
-
ok, well i almost feel really bad posting this, but i got approved/card production for the i-765 AKA my EAD CARD!!!! o ya! all thats left is the interview for the i-485 and the journey is FINALLY over. i really cant believe how fast i got approved and by the looks of others timelines i should receive the card in the mail in 2-3 days. You will get few more emails before you receive the card.
