Just wanted to share my experience of the Oath Ceremony during Covid as I know everyone's is a bit different and it's nice to know.

My ceremony was scheduled for 8:30am in St Louis, I arrived at about 8.15 - the letter specifically stated not to arrive more than 30 minutes prior, I had planned to arrive earlier but due to bad roads from snow and ice it took a little while to get downtown.

Walked in where security asked covid questions, took temperatures and went through security, was told about 5 times to keep masks on.

Directed down the hall where we were checked in, any family/guests were sent to wait in the cafeteria as only participants were allowed in (this was also on the letter but some people still tried)

There were 10 numbered seats spread out through the room, we were sent to our number and given a packet of information, passport application, mini flag etc.

Our USCIS rep was late due to weather but we all started checking in at about 8.45, just going over the form on the back of our appointment letter, giving in old green cards and confirming our information on the citizenship certificate was correct.

Once that was done the judge stood up, introduced himself, apologized profusely it wasn't a bigger deal as they normally had speakers, music etc.

Then went into formalities, we stood and took the oath, then the pledge of allegiance, the other USCIS rep congratulated us all, and passed out our certificates and sent us on our way as the next group of 10 was waiting to come in.

It all took just under an hour, was very relaxed and easy.

Good luck if you're still in the process! It's long and stressful but worth it ❤

oh this is perfect, just what I wanted to know.  I have mine today in Louisville, KY at 2pm.  I'm making hubby drive me in with the kids and wanted to be able to tell him how long he would have to wait.   I'm expecting it to be similar to yours.  Thanks again and congrats!

  2. update... after sending an email to USCIS regarding my biometrics appointment not being rescheduled, it was and I went in on Dec 16, 2020.  I have since had my interview on the 12th of Feb, I answered the first 6 questions correctly.  The officer corrected a few things on my application and then approved me, I waited in the waiting room for around 30 minutes for them to print my Oath Ceremony notice and its today at 2pm!  12 days after my interview.  Its nice that part is so quick.  after today, my journey is pretty much done.

Hello, sorry if this has a already been a post somewhere.

We are looking for our options back to the USA from Australia right now which still has pretty strict travel requirements.

Has anyone had any luck with any of the airlines on moving with their pets with the whole COVID on?

    Thanks in advance.

Try these guys, they have a notice on their site, I used them almost 8 years ago I think and they were really good, far easier than attempting it myself.

  4. Never Mind, I decided to read the thread and saw its pretty much garbage.

question... for those that filed online, what does your Estimated case completion time say?  Mine says September 2020, in 2 months.  Trying to figure out if I'm going to get really lucky or its just for biometrics, or if they just haven't accurately updated it yet.

Ok I’ll do so!,I have orders to Japan so I might be eligible to expedite!,I’m going to call Uscis and see what they say

oh you will definitely be expedited.  you have a better chance of emailing them.  trust me.  its much quicker.  and attach a copy of orders.  militaryinfo@uscis.dhs.gov

Good day everyone!...so I have filed my N-400 about a week ago through the military because I’m on active duty and I would like to find out if I still have to file I-751 application? I heard that service members don’t have to remove conditional permanent residency but I’m not 100% sure.

i also got my biometric notifications by Email but I didn’t get a appointment date because they say service members don’t need a appointment date!,so I went today and got it done!.on the Uscis case tracker it’s saying Uscis is reviewing my application so I don’t have to do anything right now!..do anyone know if the process is faster while filing N-400 through the military?

Hey Trav, I'm filing as an AD milspouse, and unless you have pending orders for OS PCS or deployment, as far as I'm aware there is no expedite, but email the military helpline if you want clarification.

I don't know the answer to your question I'm afraid, but if you're not a member of the Foreign Military Spouses facebook group, that's another really helpful resource with loads of people who have been through this process! Good luck!

I just realised I am a part of that group and posted my question there haha, thanks for the reminder!!

  8. So the USCIS military helpline appears to be less than helpful, I'm hoping someone from here can assist me with my question. I'm completing the N400/application for Naturalization, since we were stationed in Germany for 3 years and according to INA319 8.USC 1430 part e (excerpt below), this counts toward physical presence if you accompanied your military spouse on orders.

We returned from Germany July 2019, so we've been back stateside for around 7 months now and I've been a LPR since late 2013.

"(e)(1) In the case of a person lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States who is the spouse of a member of the Armed Forces of the United States, is authorized to accompany such member and reside abroad with the member pursuant to the member's official orders, and is so accompanying and residing with the member in marital union, such residence and physical presence abroad shall be treated, for purposes of subsection (a) and section 1427(a) of this title, as residence and physical presence in-

    (A) the United States; and

    (B) any State or district of the Department of Homeland Security in the United States."

How and where do I add our orders? in additional evidence?

anything else unique I need to know?

    Thanks for any help!

  9. Hi Rebecca,

I'm just doing mine now, we returned from overseas 6months ago, I waited till we got back so I could do the online form.. and the gaps have to be filled during the PCS time, I just used my MIL address for both gaps, thats where we forwarded our mail.

as for travel, I believe its just anywhere outside of Germany, that was fun to do, 3 years and multiple trips ouch.

I have just logged on to find out how to explain residence outside of the US, I think its just a copy of orders, but I can let you know when I find out for sure.

  10. Thats a lot to think about.. You must be going somewhere really nice to want to move from Australia to the US. Someone that has gone through this would be best to answer, I was K1, so quite different, but I'll give a few things a shot here.

Checking the form that you have linked, you might want to read the questions carefully again, it is a question to the sponsor, and the part you marked for yourself, states above that its for 'persons NOT supported in this affidavit', so I think you have it a little backward there. The total at the bottom, should be your family, + your SIL family. I think question 1, is probably supposed to be your household size, so go back and check part 3, question 28.

Proving domicile, if you go to the search bar and type in 'proof of domicile' quite a few threads pop up with people in your situation, This thread, has a big checklist that could assist you. And Yes, your income for the apartment will count, I believe.

Best of luck, big move. Hope it goes well for you.

  14. Hey Super Sad, I'm sorry to hear this has happened to you. I know it hurts pretty bad, giving up your world for a man you trusted and believed in, only for him to let you down, going home is hard. But just think to your self, you gave it a go, and you decided it wasn't right for you. Just keep telling yourself, that its your decision not to stay.
You have a few weeks left before you HAVE to leave, so why not have some fun, book your ticket home now, and if you have some spare money, go on a little trip somewhere, something fun, for you, a good memory before leaving. Perhaps you can get a flight to Hawaii and then from there... back to China. Or anywhere you have always wanted to visit in the USA. I wish you well, and I'm so sorry things didn't work out.

  15. I realise this is a few weeks old, but just in case anyone is looking for reference. The Australian consulate should send you the NZ police clearance form with your packet 4,

if they don't, then email them to request it.

You cannot request the clearance yourself as VonDenton mentioned, you will receive an incorrect clearance that they won't accept.

  17. Not all information is clear here, sorry Channie if I'm overstepping and offering too much info, I'm coincidentally about to apply for my ROC too so I'm in here browsing.

Your husband, has visited you in Australia during your stay, right? you also had another baby (with your husband) while you were in Australia. right? That can be used, as evidence of maintaining a marriage while out of the country, and perhaps a ticket home, so thats not too much of a concern assuming thats sufficient evidence, but yes, being in the US for your biometrics, is necessary, that would take a month or so I imagine.

ETA - condolences, about your Dad, I'm so very sorry, but I'm glad you got to spend time with him before he passed.

  18. Hi. I'm dual nationality New Zealand and Canada, but lived in Sydney, Australia and interviewed in Sydney. I initially submitted my NZ passport for all my paperwork but had my visa stamped in my Canadian passport. I have traveled with both, and was traveling during the immigration process even residing in New Zealand for 5 months due to work (My Australian company sent me there on assignment).

There were never any questions, concerns or delays regarding my dual nationality or that I was processing in a country of which I was not a citizen, and I was completely truthful about my situation.

    I hope that helps.
