  1. I wouldn't delay sending it in...mail it tmro with another barcoded cover sheet (from the IV email)and attach a "sticky note" asking to please add it to your IV package already sent last week.

They could have it in front of them before you even get the RFE.

Don't forget to include a Photocopy of it also (and keep a copy for your records).

Do call the NVC every day after you get delivery confirmation to make sure it was added to your file (and say a few prayers it doesn't get misplaced).

Thanks a lot, will follow up and pray about it.

  2. Hello dearies,

I need your advise - my spouse Police cert is ready now. Last week I sent both packages (DS -230 and AOSupport) to NVC. When I call - it seems they haven't opened my packages yet, but I saw the USPS delivery confirmation.

Should I send the last document remaining which is the police cert. and include the cover sheet page Or should I just wait for them to send me a checklist or request the missing document.

Also how long does it take from when NVC receives packages and approves and sends out to consulate? This is for I-130 for spouse.

Thanks in anticipation of your response :innocent: . :star:

  3. First thanks to all that gave me support and ideas on addressing the "Airport Closing". Now that we decided on staying in Lagos, where do I stay?? Ideally close to the airport, an area that we can walk around, sight see, and eat. Most improtantly if no airconditioning then at least fans :innocent: . Even if electricity goes off..lol...

P.S. Last visit we did stay overnight in a very small "ummmm" hotel to catch our flight out the next morninig. However, I don't think I could last 7 days there.

    Peace,

    Chi

Good Hotels are quite expensive in Lagos, I prefer Ikeja and VI (close to shoprite and all) though.

Check this site, this one is close to Ikeja, beautiful place and it was comfortable, but make sure you price it well/bargain.

    Hotel Name: De-renaissance hotel

Location:172 Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja Lagos

    ROOM RATES STARTS FROM $200

    Reservation Number: 08029555640, 08065505845

2nd option in VI: Bon voyage (expensive but you should bargain)

I think the breakfast is free for only one person and we paid 4,500 naira for 2nd person.

Location: 57A Marinho Drive, Off Ajose Adeogun Street. Victoria Island, Lagos

3rd option: Oriental hotel lagos: there is a branch in Maryland and VI as well (TOO EXPENSIVE)

Location: 3, Lekki Road, Victoria Island Lagos

    Tel: +234 (0) 1 280 6600

    Fax: +234 (0) 1 280 6609

Depending on the level you want to enjoy your stay, some hotels are cheap but you won't like the value you will get. When you get there, make sure you price it down, they inflate the prices so you pay more, but they can take out 5000 naira - more or less depending on how you can convince them. :bonk:

  4. I am becoming obsessed with timelines, EVERY day I get up and log on and check every timeline related to the I-130... I have found Igor's list as well...

lolllllllllllllll  your post is so funny. try to relax and be prayerful, it will get to your turn quick.

When you think you are stuck - get help from your senator, they also helped mii to verify what's going on.

When it gets close to 5 months after submitting I-130 and you don't have the NOA2 OR a USCIS rep. tells you its still in process, make sure you escalate - they will open a service request on your behalf, i tell you it works wonders.

i requested a service tkt on the 13th April and got approved 14th April exactly 5months. B4 then i was told my case file hadn't been touched or looked at, that it was pending. i was so surprised i got approved just a day after i opened a service tkt - it was all tears of joy :crying: after that. lol

also the NVC Stage these days takes forever - well i thought it did take forever just to get my NVC Case #. it took a month to be exact. after that it was so fast, I paid both fees online (make sure you request to pay online) its the best way to move quickly - it showed paid next day and i mailed package same day - now I am waiting for them to open my packages bcos it was delivered toady. :star::)

    Goodluck.

  5. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever found that they had made an error on their petition and had it dealt with differently, for example, receiving an RFE instead. Or am I destined to go through all of the hassle that I read about? I know I can't know what will happen with our case but I would feel better if I knew there was a chance that it might be ok or be dealt with more efficiently, it would make me feel better.

    Lucy

I feel you should relax, if you sent it recently - you can as well re-send the form.

Yesterday i mailed my DS -230 and the dates that show where you 've lived for 16yrs, i omitted on last address - that would add up to 16yrs, all i did was send a new form next day and a short note.

  6. Everytime i call they saying that they recieve my case but it is not on their system yet and that it will take about 15 to 20 business day to get it on their system. I am confuse and frustrated it been a week now since they recieve this case. Anyone experiencing this problem? Or having to wait that long?

I also had same issue. NOA2 - April 14th 2012. NVC received my case 30th April 2012 and I had my case # May 14th 2012. so a month from when I was approved. keep calling - like i did call 3 times or twice a day, I was also frustrated and so sad :( about the same response, but keep in mind very soon you will receive your case number and it will go so fast.

I got my case number 14th, i submitted DS 3032 via email, got fee bills May 15th (AOS) May 16th (IV) - Both showed paid a day after and i mailed out package 16th May. so get your packages ready, your agent email typed and in draft. be prepared bcos it will be so fast.:D goodluck

  7. Wait until you get a checklist.

Or, perhaps, the reviewing officer won't even notice. I've seen people spot an error after the fact, yet wasn't issued a checklist. If you don't get one, then just bring the updated DS-230 to the interview and hand it in there.

Thank you so much for responding, I feel so much relieved somewhat.

Like you said, I filled out a new form just in case and I was planning of mailing it out today, since the other one was mailed out just yesterday and will deliver on Friday.

I guess I will hold on to it - hoping the review officer does not notice it and my spouse will take the new form to his interview.

  8. Similarly, I received an Email for the checklist from NVC on 5/11 that has a coversheet barcode and another page that has a checklist which was basically just ds230 plus an supporting civil documents.

I mailed the following supporting civil documents; original marriage & birth cert, a copy of the passport biographic page, 2 passport sized photographs, the receipt for the IV payment, the barcoded cover sheet and I typed a reference list of the documents included in the package with a note explaining that the police certificate is in progress.

Now, just 3 days after mailing this out, she received the police certificate and scanned it and emailed it to me. So immediately, I wrote an email to the NVC using the template that list the case number & name/date of birth, with a brief description of the case and purpose of the email, explaining that I just received it.

I called yesterday, and the package sent on the 11th which was received by NVC on the 14th (usps delivery confirmation), has not yet been through their data entry yet and was told this step may take up to 20 business days.

Wow! congrats on getting the police cert. she can mail it to you DHL. Then you can mail to NVC or just send a copy. but since original is requested send the original.

    all the best

  9. Good evening folks,

This is my first post, so this is going to be a very newbie question.

    Brief history -

I'm a US citizen, applied for a I130 for wife - approved in April 5th 2012, I now have a case Number from NVC, & have paid both AOS & IV Fee. I assigned agent through email successfully and sent the AOS with cover sheet and tax documents last week.

Now, I know the next step is to submit the d230 that is signed by my wife. However my question is when?

Do I wait for them to process the application and send me a notification of what is needed to complete the documentations before the case is forwarded to the embassy in Malaysia?

Also, during the I-130 application process, her passport biographic page was sent, her pictures, her certified copy of birth certificate, our certified copy of marriage were all sent. Are all of these documents needed to be resubmitted to NVC along the with the signed d230 part 1 & 2?

Do I have to submit the police report from Malaysia with the d230 as well - those take couple of months to obtain and she just applied for one 2 weeks ago.

    Please advice.

    Thank you very much.

Hello, I am also in same stage as you. This is what i did. yesterday May 15th - i got AOS fee and paid same day, it shows paid today May 16th. also got IV today and its in process. I mailed both my spouse AOS Package and DS-230 Package today (with the receipt that the police cert/cert of good conduct requested in Malaysia)and a little note stating the cert is in process and here is a receipt and I told them once its ready - i will send them a copy and my spouse will provide the original at his interview. also same as his original birth cert. i sent only a notarized copy.

You have to send all document requested and maybe an explanation if you don't have all.

    goodluck

  10. I'm a little confused as i am reading so many different things about the nvc process. OKAY after i get the nvc case # is that when i can have my husband email them the choice of agent form making me the person who receives all case correspondence? also i have more questions but this question will determine my next question... help pls...also he is in Lagos.

Once you have your case number - you and your husband case send a mail to NVC asking them to make you the agent.

There is an email format - hopefully you have seen it on some pages.

    check this:

    goodluck

  11. How can I check which AOS form I need to fill out?

Cos I thought I need to fill out the I 864 too but maybe its that other one.

I've heard that people with co-sponsor needed to fill out the I864EZ, is it true?

I have a co-sponsor, which form do I need to fill?

    Thanks a lot!

sorry for the late reply. I was preparing to submit my packages.

I-864EZ is for sponsors who have just one beneficiary to sponsor and only the salary or retirement salary is used. so its for just you the petitioner and the beneficiary.

I-864 On the other hand is for people who need 2 sponsors and have more than one person to petition/sponsor

  12. just curious.....you already knew the answer????

Not really, i had to read up several instructions b4 i verified.

verifying from you guys could also save mii a lot of stress down the road and rejection from NVC.

VJ checklist shows I-864 and that's what i thought i needed and i filled that form, until i read through the website and figured out i needed i-864ez instead, but i already asked the question.
