  1. Thanks but perhaps my question was unclear - I know exactly how to apply for Jamaican citizenship and what documents are required. I have been in touch with PICA - my question is how do I obtain a police record for myself from the United States? Via FBI? Thanks again

  2. Hope there's someone here that can tell me how to obtain my police record from the U.S.? I'm going to need it to apply for Jamaican citizenship but I really can't find any information on how to get one. I have lived in Hawaii for the past 14 years. Thankful for any information.

  3. We stayed at a lovely hotel in Kingston - The Four Seasons (no, not THAT Four Seasons, lol) and it was very close to the embassy. Had a nice dinner the night before, tried to sleep and arrived in plenty of time the next morning. Makes no sense driving from Negril in the middle of the night. Best of luck to you both!

  4. I am really confused, first because we file ours in Feb 2013 and our k3 in march and nothing but case trasnferred to nebraska two weeks ago. What I don't understand si I see people on these forums who filed in april and are already approved and have their greencard. They received it in august, it makes no sense to me that I have not even received NOA2 yet and its november and yet people who filed 3 months after me have already had everything done and are now in the US. It makes no sense.

The USCIS and the immigration process has not ever and will not ever make any sense.

  5. Arrived in US three weeks ago, got married three days ago and now waiting for the marriage certificate so I can file AOS papers. Anyone got any hints that will help in regards to this and especially the biometrics. Some documents say I don't need another medical done but I am not sure what to do with the part that needs to be signed off ???

Also another subject: can I get a local drivers license easily or do I have to sit a full drivers test??

    Thanks

You were given a medical as a condition of your K-1 so no, you will not need to do another one. Just include the one you already have with your I-485 petition. As far as a driver's license, you will need to wait for your EAD before you can get one and yes, you will have to do both a written test and a driver test. Honolulu DMV will issue you a lerner's permit once you pass the written test. Aloha and welcome to Hawaii!

  6. Ok so checked the CEAC website tonight at work and it Says READY!!! dancin5hr.gifdancin5hr.gif I Cant believe it. It has been 3 weeks and 1 day since his interview. Im trying not to let myself totally relax untill my fiance gets it in his hand. Does anyone know about how long from this point untill we can pick it up?? I wish everyone a speedy journey. Much love to all the VJ family. You all have been my saving grace!!

The CEAC website will change to "Issued" when your visa is ready to be mailed. Hopefully soon but give the State Dept. a call to find out more, best of luck and congrats on your approval!

  7. I really have no skin in this, and really can't offer meaningful advice. But I love education. So maybe someone can help and explain: other than a case where one of the spouses admits to premeditated false courtship...what's the use in this entire subject?

Both male/female USC themselves seek out unequal partnership, pursue it as hard as they can (sponsoring, paying up for poorer spouse, etc); then the ill-conceived relationship breaks down, and then the USC complains. And thus a good half of posts in this sub forum: for what constructive purpose? And why go back to government agency and try to take even more of their resources seeking to unwind what you previously begged them to affect? Proving she said he said is tough enough in court with help of attorneys; trying to convince USCIS that they absolutely must undo what you originally begged them to do for you - is this credible? Does USC really assume zero risk when initially embark on this journey? Are relationships guaranteed? Even domestically, with no visas, 50% - or more - break. Why involve USCIS again, other than withdraw sponsorship?

    Well stated!

  8. I am having a few financial blows my mo lost her job so i am helping her out, and i work in a small company in accounting and anyone in the field knows how demanding of a job it can be especially when the company is small and you do everything they do not like to work with you when it comes to time off. As well as my time away is always without pay does anyone who has filed a Expedited case due to financial loss of an individual help me with the verbiage to use when sending my supporting information as well as i will get a letter from my job. Thanks

Please fill out your timeline so that we may better assist you. When did you file the 129f? It is highly unlikely that you will get an expedite for a K-1 based on your description and it certainly can backfire as you have to show proof that you are able to support your fiance once he's here. I'd recommend against trying.

  9. Hello Everyone. Btw you all are awesome and give great advice and are very encouraging. Anyway I sent of my I-129F form Sep 26 and sent it next day services. However i still have not received any email confirming they have received it. For those of you that completed that email form how long before you received your email? Its making me worry that maybe i didn't fill out something granted its only been a week but as you all know this situation of getting the person you love and want to start your life with to be where you are through immigration is so nail biting. My fiance is in Jamaica for any of you filling from the US for a fiance in Jamaica what was your time line? Thanks heart.gif

Check out the JA members timelines for info - mine included. You have nothing to worry about yet.....

  10. I received a similar letter because the I-864 I submitted was expired. Do you have your copy of the I-864? Look in the top right corner. It should say that it expires on 3/31/2015. If it's any earlier, you used the wrong form. I think they must have had the wrong form posted somewhere, because there seem to be a lot of us with this problem.

    Good luck!

Btw, did you just send in the updated form or did you include copies of your tax returns as well?
