  1. We were approved on Monday after our interview in Montreal!

We were the first ones in line but let the lady behind us get the C1 ticket so we received C2. They call specific numbers by windows which means that window 1 only calls C1, C5, C9 etc and the same idea goes for the other 3 windows. As it was, the window #2 (where C2 would be first in line) took half an hour more to open than the other windows so we had to wait while all the other numbers were called (I think they got all the way to C12) until our window opened and we were called to it. The handling of documents was easy, we sat down again and they called us to the interview room very shortly after (probably only a few minutes after C1 as we saw her leave right before we were called up) where they only asked a few questions and we were on our way with the approval letter in hand.

Good luck to all others in the process and feel free to PM me with any MTL questions you may have.

Now onto wedding planning! We can pick a date!

  2. I don't know how you pick a date since my fiance did it and not me. When I go to reschedule, it brings up a statement saying the next date available is... and if I continue through, I lose my original date so I'm not risking that unless it says there's an earlier date available.

Did you send out your P3? It took us a week to receive P4 after that and we booked the date the day after.

  3. It seems long but t least you have an end date in site! THat is the good news! 5 yrs ago we filed in early Jan and didn't have an interview until 10 months later...it could be worse is all I'm sayin ;)

Yeah, I wish I only had to wait 63 days!

Yes, I know we are very lucky. We received our NOA2 only 43 days after filing! I'm just anxious to start wedding planning and picking a date and venue! We're having a formal affair so lots of planning will ensue. He still has one class to take so he plans on moving right after the holidays. This would leave us about 4 months to plan something which is definitely doable but a bit rushed for a more traditional wedding.

  4. Hi,

My fiance just scheduled his interview last night and the soonest interview available on a K-1 was in 63 days! For those who are at the same stage of the process, I just wanted to warn you about the 2-month wait for interviews in Montreal at this time.

    Good luck to all.

  5. Yeah for Montreal. Ugh is right! I'm sort of ok with it though because knowing its 50 days, we are able to plan better. It sucks because everything has gone so fast and I wish this would too. We got NOA2 after 88 days. So maybe its catching up to us haha. Good luck!

I understand what you mean! We got our NOA2 after only 43 days (insane, I know! :wow: ) but we took a bit of time to send them P3 because he was visiting me and we kept getting wrong information from the DOS about whether they had sent it yet or not. Hopefully some interview spots open up earlier.

He's not planning on moving until January anyways but the sooner we have the visa in hand, the sooner I can send wedding invitations and start booking my vendors/venue!

  6. Did you see that a May filer (5/7) got NOA2 yesterday? That got me excited!

I actually just made 2 months, but I'm feeling better about this process now. The time has gone pretty quickly and it doesn't seem so far away now. Just praying that there are no hiccups along the rest of the journey.

Only 46 more days until my next visit with Jordan. I hope this time flies by...seems too far away right now :crying:

Actually I got my NOA2 just 43 days after my NOA1 (May 30 - July 12). I didn't have any type of expedite so I don't know how I got through so quickly but I'm not complaining! My case just left the NVC for the Montreal embassy yesterday so it seems that the NVC is also picking up in speed.

Keep strong! Your turn is coming!

  7. Now the waiting game starts! Expect to wait about 5 months until your petition is adjudicated by the USCIS or you receive an RFE.

I suggest you read the guides on this forum http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide to familiarize yourself with the process. Once you receive your NOA1, fill in your timeline and VJ will give you an estimate of your adjudication date based on other VJ members' timelines.

    Good luck!

  8. Fortunately I'm living for free in Afghanistan and $1k a month covers everything my wife and son need in Thailand, so the money isn't a concern. My primary concern is any time that may be lost due to an error in filing.

Since you filed both petitions separately, time shouldn't be lost as your I-130 will keep trudging along by itself. As others have mentioned, the K3 has been obsolete for about 2 years now. It was ordinarily used to bring the spouse in the country while the I-130 was being processed (it could take years for the I-130 to be processed). Since the timelines for the I-130 have decreased significantly since then, the K3 will arrive at the NVC stage at the same time or shortly after the I-130 and they will administratively close it and just proceed with the I-130.

Essentially, the money you paid for the K3 is non-refundable and the application won't help you. But it shouldn't hurt your chances either.

  9. Congrats to you, that is wonderful and that is how it should be for all folks wait (45 day waiting period)!!!

You filed around the same time as myself and I too was routed to CSC. I find this whole process VERY frustrating! You can't calculate anything with the USCIS PERIOD!! Just when you find hope some strange and quick approvals happen and sets us all off....

The Gov't is ridiculous, I think of all the people who have been unemployed and laid off working for the Gov't is a shame. Locations shut down and petitions transferred. Mean while we have an economic crises going on, I see plenty of people in need of work to provide for their families. They need to give some folks their jobs back and re open more service centers. So the people of the US can find jobs and feed their families, at the same time they can unite families in waiting... Sad :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: gotta love our gov't

I agree with you that this should be the normal wait period. When I called them today (I was not believing the email or case status online and thought they gave me a wrong receipt number that would have had an earlier filing date), the rep told me that I was still within processing times and that my case was still pending. So I asked what receipt # was associated with my file and I had the correct one. He then went on to check his online system which is updated quicker than their regular system and confirmed the approval. He was just as surprised as I was of the short time-frame!

I mean, if they can't even get their systems to work together, how can we expect them to process case within a reasonable amount of time? :bonk:

I think I just got lucky.

  10. I'm curious if people who have already gone through USCIS in the past get processed faster because they already have plenty of information on you.

That's a good point! I went through the I-94, green card, and naturalization processes and just became a citizen in February. They must start to have a giant file on me by now which surely would help them figuring out all the details they need.
