  1. Hello Everyone,

Yesterday we received our GC in hand dancin5hr.gif .

Anyone who is curious how the process went after receiving update - below are the details

August 13th - Received Email from USCIS stating ordered production of card (website status showed CARD / DOCUMENT PRODUCTION)

August 14th - When we checked the case status it went back to DECISION

August 15th - Received Email from USCIS stating ordered production of card (moved forward again to CARD / DOCUMENT PRODUCTION)

August 16th - Received Email stating Mailed New Card

August 21st - Received GC in hand dancin5hr.gif

It seems like it goes back & forth few times (I got a little worried when it went back to Decision & thus I'm posting above in case if anyone else is paranoid like I'm no0pb.gif ).

I wanted to Thank Everyone who helped us in our journey, VJ & all members has been the best help I could have asked for.

For everyone who is still waiting - do not loose hope, you are almost there - GOOD LUCK!

    Best Wishes.

    Atl Desi Guy!

  2. Hello Everyone,

We have been waiting very patiently but its now been 11 months 1 days since USCIS accepted our package & we are now getting worried. USCIS website still shows our case under the acceptance phase. Last time when we sent in an inquiry we got a response via e-mail stating (this was 3 weeks back)

"Your application was recently received at this field office and will be processed in the order received. You should receive a notice of action within the next 45 days. If you have further questions you may make an InfoPass to speak with an officer".

Will an InfoPass help? Also the strange thing is that the field office where we received the notification is from DURHAM, NC & we reside in ATLANTA, GA. Does this mean we need to go NC or can we go to the Atlanta office for infoPass?

    Any information would be helpful.

Congratulations to the ones who received their GC & Good Luck to the ones waiting.

    Thank You.

  3. Hello Everyone,

Congratulations to all those you received their Green Cards & Good Luck to the rest awaiting.

Earlier in the week we made an inquiry to find out progress with our case since it was outside the normal processing time. Very next day I received an email from

    U.S. Department of Homeland Security
    USCIS
    301 ROYCROFT DRIVE
    DURHAM,NC 27703

    U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

Stating that your application was recently received at this field office & will be processed in the order received.

We are based out of Atlanta, GA & the address shows Durham, NC - is there a possibility if they required us to go for an interview that case will again get transferred to Atlanta field office or will we be required to go to NC? If anyone has any insight or similar situation & can share that would be great.

    Good Luck Everyone.

  4. Hello Everyone,

We are also among the September Filers & our case should be processed from the Atlanta Field office (if it actually made it there).

Just called USCIS & since its outside of the normal processing time they have made a request for us to receive an update within 2 weeks.

On the other hand the CSR mentioned that Atlanta is already processing I-485 from November 8th - I'm a little bit concerned? Anyone else facing a similar situation?

One of our biggest concerns is that any communication from USCIS getting lost in the mail, checked with the CSR & he mentioned that he did not see any activity on the case except for the initial case acceptance - can they really see this on their end or was it more to just get done with the conversation. We have been diligently checking the mail & emails - so far no update.

We received the EAD / AP around November itself.

    Thanks & Good Luck Everyone.

  5. Hello Everyone,

We submitted out AOS package in September & received NOA on September 5th.

EAD & AP approved - received on November 15th.

When I check my case status online its still in the acceptance stage & mentions that its being processed at NBC.

Is NBC the same location where applications which do not need any interview get processed or are they 2 separate?

Its now been over 8 months since AOS was submitted & we are getting impatient.

Talking to customer service is no help as they are reading off the script & asking us to wait.

    Thanks.

  6. I sent in my documents for AOS and Advanced Parole, and requested email notification. Today I received 2 identical emails with the exception that each had a different MSC case number. Is this a mistake, or does the AP get a separate case number from the AOS? The notifications did not specifiy which case number was for the I-485 and which for the AP.

We received 3 separate MSC numbers, 1 each - AOS, AP & EAD.

Once you log on USCI's website & check status with both the MSC number you will find out exactly which application the case numbers are assigned to.

    Good Luck.

  7. You may or you may not get interview, If your case will be transferred to CSC or california service center, There's a big chance of no interview but you'll have to wait longer, if not transfer then you will get interview. You have to bring photo copies of wedding, especially with both family parties, and joint account statements. that's the main two things they will check. (That's what they did to my cousin and his wife during their interviews) and don't forget to wear your wedding ring/s :D

Thanks for the response. Any other Evidence we need to collect?

  8. Hello Everyone,

Last week on Thursday I sent my wife's AOS package & today I received 3 separate emails - USCIS Acceptance Confirmation with 3 different Receipt Numbers.

    • Will we be using these receipt numbers for checking the status online till the end or is there another number which we will get when the physical mail comes?

Also please can someone guide me with all the proofs / evidence which needs to be collected for the AOS interview (I know it's several months out but want to get a head start).

    • I have read several places where they mention including Wife's name on the lease but we live in a house which I own & I checked with the bank about adding her name - they said only way to do that would be to refinance & add her name, is that true? Is having the name on the lease / mortgage that crucial?

We already have a joint bank account number, she's has been added to my medical insurance plan & she's the primary beneficiary on my Life Insurance Policy - what else. We have already taken a few trips together after marriage & are taking lots of pictures / saving receipts.

    Thank You.

  9. Looks ok... I just skimmed through it.

When you send it, make you sure get tracking information and photo copy or scan every single document that you will send just incase the package gets lost in the mail.

    Good luck!!!

    Dont forget the payment check.

Do I need to submit 3 certified copies of our marriage certificate as my wife is applying for EAD & AP or just 1 certified copy + 2 photocopies?

We are sending copies of all the pages of her passport do we still need to send separate copies of visa page, Bioagraphic etc.

    Thanks a ton!

  11. Harpa is right, her maiden name was her last name when she was still single, have nothing to do with you. And Yes if she want to get all her documentation with her new name, fill all the forms with that name

I'm sorry, what I meant to ask was Middle Name not maiden name.

Is there a recommendation for Middle Name (husband's first name or maiden last name)?

    Thanks.

  12. Hello Everyone,

A little background, fiancee got here on K-1 Visa & now applying for AOS. I was filling out the Advance Parole form (I-131) & had a few questions. We will be filing this along with I-485 (AOS package).

    • Part 7 - Complete Only If Applying for Advance Parole
    • Question 2 & 3 - Left it Empty since travel document does not need to be delivered outside US (please can someone verify this?)

Below are the proofs I'm planning on attaching - Am I missing anything?

    • Proof of status - Photocopy of I-94 Visa stapled to passport
    • 2 Passport Photos (Name written on the back)
    • Color Photocopy of Passport (proof of photo identity)
    • NOT SUBMITTING a page explaining why advance parole is required since application is being filed along with AOS package - IS THIS OK?

    Thanks in advance.

  13. Hello Everyone,

My Fiancee is now in the US on K-1 visa (less than a week now) & we were planning on getting her SSC on her maiden name.

One of the questions on the SSC form

    Citizenship

    • Legal Alien allowed to work
    • Legal Alien Not allowed to work

Please can someone confirm which one need to be checked (allowed to work or not).

Can we file for EAD before marriage or should wait to file along with AOS?

Also how difficult or easy is it to change the name on SSC once we are married?

    Thank You.

  14. Just tell her to answer simply and honestly. If the CO asks these questions (which is not sure, nobody knows which questions your fiancee will have), she should just reply that you met several times (give the number) since 20XX, each time for a week. They don't expect her to answer "we met 43 days in total", that looks so no-spontaneous and too much prepared.

Don't think too much about the questions. If your relationship is completely bonafide, that you met, and that you know each other well, questions will be naturally easy to answer.

Thank You - it makes sense, we want to be prepared enough at the same time don't want to over do it.

  15. Hello Everyone,

This website has been a great help & have gathered tons of information. My Fiancee is scheduled for interview later in the month & we were preparing for the interview questions. There was actually 2 question which we did not know on how to answer - please can someone advise.

    Question

    • 1 - How much time have you spent together? or Your vacation together?
      or
    • 2 - How long have you been with him in person?

So here is the situation - I have visited her several times over the last few years & everytime I have gone to see her we spent about a week at a time. How should she go about answering that question - any suggestions? (do we just add up the actual days we spent together over the last 2 years & use that as an answer?)

The second question is pretty much the same so does she have the same answer as the 1st one.

Thank You for all your help.
