Hey DGBT, my dates are right, I guess they took too long to transfer my case from the lockbox to the NBC office, my money order was cashed almost a month later. I had to call more than 4 times until they located my pack.
Immigration, sometimes it happens!

Could someone update the timeline info for me? I just don't want to run the risk to screw it up...

Someone had its POE in Detroit recently? The last post review is dated 2012-12-09 ...

My father-in-law got his visa last week but he had to pay the new $165 fee for the green card. We created an account and submitted the payment. But the account still says case is pending review.

Anyone have any idea what that means? He has his visa, the payment was made and he'd like to come into the country, but with the status saying "pending," I'm not sure if he should come into the country yet.

Thanks for any advice.

His case will be case in pending review till he enter the country and delivery his sealed envelope at POE ( Port of Entry ) This fee is for the card production, and it will be done after he has 1 year permanent resident stamp ( temporary GC ) on his passport.

I am in the same situation with my boy... I paid our fees last saturday...

Tell him to to come into the country ... there is nothing wrong !!

We used www.rev.com and it was accepted by USCIS without problems... $33.00 per page.

Some one with interview on July 11 had the interview re scheduled at US Consulate in Rio ?!! There is some reason given ?!!

I have my husband passport stamps and hotel receipts with both names ( MR./ MRS.)

Question from a friend: Co-worker of mine (who is Nigerian but a long-time US Citizen) mentioned something to me about a civil marriage where someone can "stand-in" or represent me for marriage in Nigeria. Does anyone have any idea what she is talking about? She says two of her cousins did it and of course I'm like, they are Nigerian right? And she said yes but were US citizens at the time they did it. She said the process is supposed to help people who cannot either afford to continuously travel or cannot handle the demands of taking time from work or school. In one instance her cousin was in medical school and couldn't leave the rotation for travel to Nigeria. Anyone?

Dwheels.. did you remember my post where I said the consulate asked me proof that marriage was consummate before interview ??

That happened because I was married by proxy, we had to send the passport stamps, hotel receipts in "both" names, pics to USCIS approve our I-130, and the consulate is asking more proof because I am already 2 years married... then we have my husband second visit after the marriage.

I got married by proxy in Denver ,CO,USA... My hubby went there and I had a Lawyer on my place.

I have a question in regards to the location of the marriage for a CR-1 visa.

Is it considered visa fraud for the beneficiary (from Brazil) to go to the US on a tourist visa to get married, then return to her country of origin where she will stay until the CR-1 visa has successfully processed?

So it boils down to the following - will the US gov't consider the beneficiary committing visa fraud if she goes to the US on a tourist visa, gets married, returns to her country of origin and only return to the US when the CR-1 visa is complete?

After reviewing multiple sources, there are two main perspectives:

• Perspective 1 - The beneficiary committed fraud because she went to the US with the intention to marry - not leisure
• Perspective 2 - It's OK because the beneficiary returned to her country of origin

  it is considered visa fraud for the beneficiary (from ANY PLACE) to go to the US on a tourist visa to get married, then apply to adjust of status !!

  Tourist visa is for temporary stay, if your wife adjust status, she already enter the country thinking to stay !

  There is no problem to marry and come back...

  But she cannot have anything related to marriage ceremony on her suitecase like

  wedding dress, shoes, souvenirs, nothing that indicate she is going to marry.
  She runs the risk of being barred from the POE and sent back.

In Illinois, what you have coming into the marriage is yours still in the case of divorce, well at least that is what I think.

I own a small business and would like to protect it from divorce.

We are getting married in 4 weeks. And she lives in another country.

Does anyone know:

1) If I have to display the Value of the business somehow in the prenup? I am not even sure what the value of the business is.

2) Can I do a simple online prenup just listing the business as my only asset? I have nothing else.

3) Does anyone know where I can get some ready-made prenups at?

4) Does anyone have any experience in protecting a business in a prenup?

5) I will finish the prenup, send it down to her and her lawyer, have her and him sign it, along with write a letter saying he represents her and there is no language barrier and they understand everything. They will get it notarized at the US Embassy. She will also record a video saying she is not under any duress or pressure to sign it and understands everything. Should this be enough?

All of the prenups lawyers want to make cost between $2000-$4000 and even though I own a small business, it doesnt have that kind of money. Shouldn't this be simple if I only have one asset being the business and will follow the laws with support and maintenance?

My hubby ( US citizen ) don't want to make... but how he had his assets and I have nothing than my personal things, I wanted to do and the only thing I asked was that he would allow me time enough to get everything done and documents needed to go back to my home country and that he would pay my return tickets!

I am not on his retirement plan

for more information about my visa then she sent the email...

and now she is charging $600 for this email

i would like to know if this is normal in America

I paid $ 1.075,00 for me and my son for the whole process, and we had 3 lil problems... but they still problems !

Is it normal to receive a confirmation email from the Embassy prior to the interview? I just got it... Wasnt expecting that at all.

With the email, they asked for three different things that were missing from the package:

The medical ( Obviously )

My passport ( Makes sense )

Police Certificate of the state Im currently living in ( When I sent the package I hadnt fully completed 6 months of residence in this state, so that makes sense too )

I managed to get the police certificate for the state of Rio Grande do Norte after I sent in my IV package. ( I figured they would ask for it at some point, which they obviously just did )

Is a police certificate dated April 30th, for a July 5th interview still valid? Would I need to get an updated PC?

( X ) Passport (with at least 8 months of validity remaining) ( Makes sense )

( X ) Medical Exam ( Obviously )

I was married by proxy... Well I hope my 7 months pregnancy belly help ... LOL, But I'll bring hotel receipts, my hubby passport stamps... and all my pre natal docs too...

Positive it did. I got it this morning around noon, as a confirmation of the interview date with the checklist that I previously mentioned.

I really wasnt expecting to get any more emails, so it was a surprise to me too...

I think you should be hearing from them soon. If anything, just send them an email, they are pretty good at replying promptly ( At least right? :-) )

They say on the Consulate website ... 2 working days to reply emails but I don't know if it is true...

I logged into the CEAC website... and my status update had changed to 06-19-2013. I found that weird... didnt really know it was going to change. A few minutes later, I checked my email and saw that I had gotten an email from the embassy. It was basically just confirming the date and time of the interview, and gave me a checklist with things I need to bring to the interview ( Passport, medical, Police Report from Rio Grande do Norte ). It also asked me to print out the email and take it with me to the interview.

Im assuming the package arrived on the June 10th, and only now they have actually opened the package to check the paperwork was in order.

They should be sending you something soon, worst case scenario... just send them an email to - ImmigrationRio@state.gov

Is it normal to receive a confirmation email from the Embassy prior to the interview? I just got it... Wasnt expecting that at all.

With the email, they asked for three different things that were missing from the package:

The medical ( Obviously )

My passport ( Makes sense )

Police Certificate of the state Im currently living in ( When I sent the package I hadnt fully completed 6 months of residence in this state, so that makes sense too )

I managed to get the police certificate for the state of Rio Grande do Norte after I sent in my IV package. ( I figured they would ask for it at some point, which they obviously just did )

Is a police certificate dated April 30th, for a July 5th interview still valid? Would I need to get an updated PC?

Amazing how this whole process makes you so humble. Not only that, but only you guys would understand how simple, tiny changes can make someone so happy :-D
