  2. Today marks 60 days since my package was received. Should I be calling them at this point or just continue waiting?

The lady from the USCIS I talked to on the phone the other day said that at 75 days we should know if our EAD is accepted or not. And I've read that if you don't get anything after 90 days, then you can start worrying.

Congrats on that job Marishka! It seems while I'm bumming around you're up and about finding a job. Good for you! That's real smart. =)

Thanks! I got very lucky, I didn't have to apply, they wanted me after my internship last year!

If you don't need to work, enjoy your free time a little longer, there's nothing wrong with that!

  3. Wow, there's a lot of you to congratulate for EAD approvals and interview dates! That's awesome! I hope to get mine any day now.

And talking about jobs, I got officially one this morning! Waiting for them to tell me when will be the start date, most likely early October. Pay is not wonderful, but it will be an interesting job right in the field I went to school for, so it will be perfect for me for now! They told me to let them know for my EAD but we're not too worried, since I won't be working before approximately 2 months.

  4. Did the employer accept you as an employee? I'd say no need to mention that during the interview. Now, if you got an offer, they usually don't let you start right away, maybe that will buy you some more time. They often will ask when you can start. Use that opportunity to answer honestly with an estimate of when you might receive your green card/ead. One employer was actually desperately in need for an employee enough to let people start working and spread the payments into the next few months of my paycheck once they got their permit. It will be up to your luck. But of course, keep looking for work still.

It's a job that was offered to me a year ago after an internship but I couldn't take it at that time. The offer has been pending since then, and they are hiring several people to start training together in a month and a half. I'm going to tell him that I am still waiting for my papers so that would be safer to start maybe 2 weeks later but since it's a group training, it depends on several people, not just me... We'll see what he tells me tomorrow at 10am!

  5. I just called the USCIS to ask information about expediting my EAD. Not helpful. The lady was just reading a script the whole time, fast and without articulating, not the best to understand her, and I usually have no problem with that. Than, she was only reciting me a list of conditions under which I could ask for expediting my EAD but she couldn't tell me what my simple request was falling under. So I still don't know what to do, not helpful. However she said that I should have a decision by 75 days after reception, so it will be August 26th and the EAD shortly following if accepted.

So I don't know if I wait and tell my future employer I should be good but there's no guarantee when I meet him tomorrow or I should keep finding out to expedite that EAD...

  6. Nothing for me still and now I'm a bit nervous. I had a job lined up for the Fall and I assumed they would hire like they did last year, November 1st. But I got an email and they're thinking about September 17th now. It should be fine with the EAD but we never know... I meet them next week but I don't necessarily want to mention that EAD thing because I should have it by then, except that I don't have it right now... Hopefully they'll start the training a little later to give me a little more time.

  7. Couldn't have been easier. I think I was there even less time than you were! Was the only non-employee in the office. Walked in, handed them my ID, she gave me a number which was called before I even sat down.

Electronic fingerprints, signature on an electronic pad, and a photo. That was it. Very friendly people. The guy doing my fingerprints made smalltalk about where I was from while he was doing it.

Can't wait for that EAD!

I didn't have time to sit either!

I'm glad it went smoothly for you too! Now we'll see which office is faster, Portland or San Diego since we had our bio the same day, we can compare :)

  8. Super !!!

  9. Hello! we filed on the same month & day! :) cheers

    Nice coincidence!

Hello all nice to e-meet you!

I skimmed through most of the 11 pages and apparently I'm the first one stuck with an RFE :( (Anyone out there gone through successful RFE steps?)

I've been going through my copies of the packages and I honestly can't think of what could have been missed... and since they don't tell you in the email I'm now stuck waiting until I get the hardcopy to get a better idea of what else is required...

Sorry to hear that. I also hope it's something easy to fix in a few days. Keep us posted!
