  2. We had our AOS interview in September 2005 and we were waiting on the FBI background name check. On March 6, 2006 we were approved, received approval letter from the Tampa office on March 8, 2006, got the I-551 stamp about a week later. As of today we still have not received the greencard. We've contacted our Senator's office for help.

I believe the greencard date is your approval date, our approval letter had a date of March 6, 2006 and told us to apply to remove conditions on December 7, 2007 (my mom's birthday, that's got to be a good sign).

Note about fingerprints expiring. My husband's fingerprints expired in January, we sent a letter to the Tampa office asking if they needed to be done again and they sent us a fingerprint appointment notice. He had those done in February, and then the approval came in March.

Everyday I wish and hope it will be the day the greencard is received. One day this worry will be over, hopefully that day comes soon.

Best of luck to all!

  3. I really feel for everyone in this thread, but especially you Steffi. I really hope you get good news soon.

No we were not a CSC approval. We had our AOS interview in September 2005, but the approval was delayed because the background check was not complete. We received an approval from our local office in March 2006, but since then nothing.

The immigration officer my husband and I spoke with was nice, but she made it seem like waiting over 50 days from approval was nothing. I told her that I had heard a fee was needed if we never received the card due to no fault of our own. Her words were "It's right there in black and white, check box B and no fee is needed if you have never received the card". If we have to file the I-90 then I'm going to send a note saying we were told there was no fee, and the information from the USCIS website that says there is no fee if you never received the card. Like most people we simply can't afford the fee especially for something that wasn't our fault.

All this is just so frustrating. People wait over a year or more from submission of the AOS and then have problems with getting the greencard or getting a correct greencard. Others get their correct greencard in less than a week. Obviously this is a procedure issue that someone needs to fix, and maybe someday it will be. I think there is too much moving around of the files, why can't one office just do everything from application to approval? Ok, I'm done ranting.

I sincerely wish everyone in this thread the best of luck!!!!!!

  4. Does anyone know for sure where the I-90 needs to be sent? It says california, but then there is this paragraph: If you are filing because your card was never received, you must mail a new I-90 application using Application Reason "b" My authorized card was never received, and any supporting documentation, to the USCIS Service Center/National Benefits Center (NBC) that processed your previously filed I-90 application. For the Service Center/NBC mailing address, please refer to the I-797 "Notice of Action" and/or e-Filing confirmation Receipt notice that you received upon submittal of your previously filed I-90 application. In addition to the new I-90 application, applicants are encouraged to send a copy of the I-797 "Notice of Action" and/or the e-Filing Confirmation Receipt notice issued for their previously filed I-90 application. I-90 applications submitted with Application Reason "b" do not require the $70 biometrics fee or the base application fee..

We just spoke with an immigration officer at the customer service line, and she said to mail it to the address on the address on our I-797 for the I-485. She also said there is no fee, so I hope she's correct. I'll add it to my cover letter, and the print out from the website that says there is no fee.

We have yet to receive a welcome letter or the greencard. The only thing we received is an approval letter from our local office. Not sure if we should wait more or just file the I-90, we've waited 52 days so far. The immigration officer said we could file the I-90 now, but I don't know what we should do. She also said they don't show us as approved in the system, and that the local offices don't update their the system she looks at. I'm just confused and very frustrated.

******For those that have received the greencard after filing the I-90 what address did you mail it to?

  5. I think I understand now. So our service center is Texas as we are in Florida, so I guess the greencard comes from the Texas service center. I was just trying to figure out why some people receive their greencards just days after approval, and some wait a month or more. The wait time makes sense if it is indeed the service center that mails it out.

So 43 days doesn't seem so bad after all maybe. Thanks.

  6. Kezzie, I find it interesting, but not suprising that USCIS returned your I-90 saying you had to pay the fee. The USCIS website states the following:

If you are filing for the following reasons, the base application fee of $190 is not required. The biometrics fee of $70 is not required. Please review the Special Instructions if you are filing for these reasons.

My authorized card was never received.

My card was issued with incorrect information because of a USCIS administrative error.

So who knows if a fee is needed ot not.

I hope this all gets sorted out soon.

  7. I think it is a hate crime. They specifically called him a white boy, and then ran him into traffic. I do think some of the language in the article is wrong, but that's how the NYC news stations described the kids that committed this crime as well. Black leaders of the community were calling it a hate crime, and pleading for the kids to turn themselves in. It was suspected that the police were hesitant to call it a hate crime because they don't want to have crime statistics showing a high number of hate crimes.
