  1. Hello,

Was hoping someone can shed some light on the issue. We sent in the DS-230 with all documents to the NVC by carrier. Tracking shows it was delivered on 27 of Sept 2012. I called the help line on 4 of Oct and the operator said they are still waiting for the DS-230 and documents.

Does this mean the DS-230 may be lost? or Can it take longer than a week for them to update their system?

    Thanks Very Much

It could be taken a week or longer to review your file.

You did track your package and was delivered successfully to the NVC.

Then you don't need to worry about it might be lost.

The operator only can tell you the result once someone finishes reviewing your DS230.

Before that, they only tell you not receive it yet or no any update.

Because their system can't see any information until someone types your file into their system.

  2. its so nice to see people that u dont know try to help u thanks

do u know how long it going to take till i get approved

It depends on what kind of evidence you are required to provide.

Our was only a petitioner's passport size of photo.

And my husband sent it out by a registered mail not express post. :bonk:

So, it took a few days to arrive then 1 week was for reviewing.

1 more week to approve our I130. It wasted us almost 1 month time.

    Good luck!

  3. We have been married for 5 years and have known each other for 7 years.

In the past 5 years, I only see him in person once a year.

Almost everyday, we chat and see online.

The worst part is I am living in another country not where I was born.

Everything is totally different such as language, food, culture and people. :(

until now,I haven't seen my husband for 8 months.

3 more months later,I will see him again. (L)

Well, keep your faith during this hard time. You will see him soon. (F)

I never think temporary separation is a problem.

Maybe I am too independent and strong.

I also join community services and go to church often.

Keep myself busy and happy. Think everything positive not give up.

    Cheer up! (F) (F) (F)

  4. I called the National Visa Center yesterday...why is everyone there so rude?! Anyway, I got our case number and the invoice identification number i think it is. so now we are okay to email the NVC our DS-3032?? And do I need to do something before that?

After submitting the DS-3032 do we just wait til we hear back from them before doing anything else?

    Thanks for your help!

I understand your feeling, that's why I always ask my husband(USC) to call them.

This link is very useful. I followed it.

    Good luck!

  5. Hi.

We sent our I-130 visa application in Jan this year. Then in May USCIS required us to send the original marriage certificate to them for additional evidence....so we did.

We have sent the affidavit of support and civil documents to NVC now, but yesterday they wrote us an email that we need to submit the original marriage certificate. We would expect it to be on the case already, since we've sent it to USCIS, so I just called NVC and was told that sometimes USCIS don't send the original marriage certificate to them. Now we need to get a certified copy of it and send to them instead.

I am shocked!! Anybody else had that happen to them?? We would kinda like to get our original marriage certificate back, it's a quite important document to us. So if anybody have any ideas how to get that, we would be happy to hear it :)

    Thanks

    Sarah & René

I got mine back at the interview date.

The consulate used a file clip to group our all original civil documents, including all police checks.

Only NVC needs original civil documents.

  6. Thank you all for your answers

So do you get an e-mail confirmation that the visa is issued?

Yes, I got it. see the below my signature.

Once your visa is approved, you will receive a small and white piece of paper.

It's written Congratulation, your visa has been approved.

And it will generally take 5 business day to print your visa and prepare your document package.

Today I should receive my visa but I missed it because I was working.

I am going to pick up my visa tomorrow.

  7. Hi,

I'm preparing for my interview date which is in less than 2 weeks. Just have a question in regards to the medical results.

Do I need to bring the x-ray to the interview or do I need to provide only the sealed envelope with the medical result?

    Many thanks

I just got back from Sydney.

I didn't bring my x-ray report only the medical result.

And never been asking for it.

As my husband said, they can't understand your x-ray report.

Why they ask for it

No worries, you will be fine.

    Good luck!!

  8. Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone has gone through the CR-1 or IR-1 visa route in New Zealand in the last year or so, and if they could give me an idea of the time frames involved once the NOA2 notification is received?

I'm currently waiting for my NOA2 to come through, but just want to have an idea of when I might be able to join my husband in the States.

    Thanks so much everyone!

I think most of parts will be similar. NVC stage could be 1-2 months.

The difference will be interview date assigned. We just waited 8 days to receive our interview date.

Because it depends how the consulate is busy.

Now, you need to get your case nubmer and invoice id first.(around 1 month to get it from NVC)

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/386421-nvc-filers-september-2012/

This link can help you to know more detail.

    http://www.visajourney.com/portals/memberlist.php?country=New Zealand

You can have a look VJ members' timelines and get an idea.

    Good luck!

  9. Hi,

My case was completed on 15/08 at the NVC.

Does anyone know when does the NVC send the file to the consulate? is it once I have an interview date or is it before?

Just to mention that I didn't receive an interview date yet.

    Thanks!

Have you received your interview date yet?

As you can see my timeline,I received my interview date around 1 week.

You should call NVC everyday to find out your interview date.

Sorry, I don't know how to find out when my case is sending to the consulate.

If I am right, once your interview is assigned by NVC then your case will send to the consulate.

  10. My offshore subclass 309 application took 4 months to completion

I just followed the guide step by step and everything went without a hitch.

The closest Aus version of VJ I have found is actually:

    http://www.australiaforum.com/

They have timelines, etc, and an incredibly helpful community.

In the end we chose to move to America because of the affordability of homes, but I will keep my Aus residency current, and we will both keep our Medicare cards so that medical care doesn't bankrupt us like it does to U.S. residents/citizens.

We have talked to the Aus immigrate office, they said Aus residency is forever status.

They don't cancel it like the US does.

However,we can't keep Medicare cards forever current because Medicare centre has to see you are really permanent living in Australia during 5 years time period.

If not,you won't be allowed to renew your medicare card after medicare card is expired, except you show your ties in Australia such as you sell your all oversea properties and totally move back to Australia.

  11. The forums I have seen, people have gotten them in as little as 3mths.... most seem to be around 4-5mths.

Check out Mates up over - mainly a site for Aussies now living in the US, but there have also been a couple moving back to Australia. One member is going through the process now and is documenting some of it - so you might find that helpful.

Another is Yanks Down Under .

Neither of these sites are as informative as VJ is, but you may find something that helps you.

Apparently it is quicker and cheaper if you apply 'off-shore' (ie outside Australia) rather than 'on-shore' ( apparently if you have a valid visa for entry to Australia, as long as it doesn't have the 'No further stay' condition on it, then you can apply once you arrive in Oz - from what I've seen it's about $1000 more to do it within Australia).

I have yet to find any definitive info on the sponsorship aspect. It doesn't seem to be as clear cut as the US process (ie having to earn over 125% of the poverty line or needing co-sponsor), but people seem to be getting approved even without being in Australia and having a job ahead of time.

Good luck with it (feel free to PM me - we are looking into moving back also - If I find anything else I'll let you know :)

Actually, Australia is not strict for the sponsorship as the US.

    from my experience

  12. Hi Lainie B,

Are you married? If so, why don't you want to apply for a spouse visa?

From my experience, I applied for it offshore Australia(my birth country)by my own.

Because at that time, my husband was living in USA.

It's so easy,I just followed the booklet 1(http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/partners/partner/309-100/how-to-apply.htm)

I only spent 1 month to get my temporary visa because at time we just got married.

(Actually,it should be less than 1 month but my oversea police checks delayed my process)

Yes, it's better to have a permanent visa to study in university.

When I studied,my tuition fee was the same as international students'. :crying:

You can apply for it now in USA and once your husband's visa is approved.

You just need to come back to Australia to activate the visa.

If you would like to apply for a permanent visa then you have to wait for passing your 3rd year marriage. Before, we had to wait for 5, they changed it in 2009 or 2010.

From a temporary visa to be a permanent visa, no matter wherever you two are.

And I remembered they did't require you to pay extra $ to remove visa condition.

You only need to do just provide more evidences to show your marriage is genuine and ongoing.

I applied for my temporary visa, permanent visa and citizenship by my own. :D

  13. Thank You. I will have to call the Doctor in Sydney and see if I can get any advice. Crazy that Canberra, the so called Capital of Australia, where we have all the Embassies, requires we go to Sydney for our Medical and Visa Interview....Uugh, driving in Sydney is scary!!

Did you have to have all the vaccinations listed on the travel.state.gov site?

    Hepatitis A

    Hepatitis B

    Influenza

    Influenza type b (Hib)

    Measles

    Meningococcal

    Mumps

    Pneumococcal

    Pertussis

    Polio

    Rotavirus

    Rubella

    Tetanus and diphtheria toxoids

    Varicella

no urine test now. I just did mine last month.

here is a list to show what you need, based on your age.

  14. I am going to be responding to the checklist and will be sending my packet this Friday.

I know NVC is closed on a Saturday, but does mail still get delivered to them on a Saturday? What if I request signature confirmation?

Is there an advantage to getting the packet delivered by Saturday?

no one is there to sign mails.

deliverer will leave a notice to the NVC or try to deliver again on Monday.

  15. Thanks for the reply.

My understanding is that since it is to be processed by the AFP, the local police station is only involved for the purpose of collecting fingerprints.

The current AFP form can be found here.

I spoke to my local police station this afternoon. They told me to have the paperwork/copies of ID ready in a pre-paid envelope. They will put the prints in there and send them once they are done as they can't hand them to me.

So all I am missing is that code. I will call the AFP help desk if no one knows.. I am only posting because when I called earlier it was a 1.5 hour wait!

I did mine in Victoria and application didn't ask me about the code.

My police check was written- the purpose of the certificate is for oversea visa application.

    Sorry, can't answer your question.

But I guess should be 35.

Because code 33 is for Australia immigration.

  16. Any word on this from the consulate, hktw? I'm curious as to what they tell you.

My husband got his packet 4 email thing telling him his interview date. On the list of documents for him to bring to the interview, it includes NSW/QLD Police Certificate. Argh! Since we do have an email from the consulate telling us only one PCC is needed, I think we will print that out and bring it along. I may email them again myself to ask about this particular list, though. Good lord, can't these people get it straight how things work in Australia? It's not like they haven't been processing these visas for ages! *tears hair out*

I got their reply but I don't think they really answered my question, did they?

They couldn't just answer me like" all Australians only need 1 national police certificate which must be based on fingerprint search and no matter where you apply for it." Sigh.....

    here is their reply.

    -----------------------------------

If your Australian police certificate states that it was issued on the basis of a fingerprint search, the certificate will be accepted by this office.

If it was issued on the basis of a name check only, the certificate will not be accepted.

Please be advised, however, that final determination of acceptance of documents can only be made at the time of your visa interview.

    ---------------------------------------

And when I looked back my Australian police check(I did a photocopy)

It stated that a fingerprint and name based search of the records of the Australian state and territory police forces and the Australian federal police has been conduced on xxxx

Does this mean they did use my fingerprint and name search from the national data base, which covers all Australia? If not, why this mentioned state, territory and federal?

From my understanding, I think so!

  17. Just got the email--interview date set for September 4th at 11 am!

Our case was complete on July 25, and this is for the Sydney consulate.

Hope everyone gets good news soon!

    So.........different.

I got mine is on Sep. 25.

our case is only 1 day after your case completed and at the same country.

But I have to wait for 3 weeks more to have the interview.

Anyway, I should be grateful about this.

At least, I got it!!!

Thank you very much for all VJ members here to help me.

  18. After reading a few things about K2 visas it seems that whether children attend the interview is dependant on which embassy is involved. For anyone who has been through interview for both K1 and K2 did your children have to travel to Sydney too??

Even though interview is probably at least 3 months away I'm starting to think about logistics as I live 7 hours from Sydney. Thanks everyone

I just read a review about Sydney consulate's interview.

    http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Australia&cty=&dfilter=5

    PO's daughter is 16.

You can have a look and talk to the OP

    good luck

  19. I know the day is over but I want to share with you guys that today was a our first wedding anniversary, eventhough we are separated we will be reunited soon as her interview is next week.

We are very anxious and exited to finally complete this journey

    Wow, the same day! Aug.2nd (F) (F) (F)

    Our is fifth wedding anniversary.

  20. Thanks for confirming that.

Do these two packets (AOS & IV) need to be sent in separately i.e AOS by petitioner IV be beneficiary or can I send the IV packet to my wife with everything needed and then she send one packet with everything in?

    thanks again.

    Dean

no need, you can send separately or together

but they are going to two different department.

So, AOS 1 packet and IV another packet.

make sure both of bills show "PAID" before sending

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/380887-nvc-filers-august-2012/

You can read FAQ, you will understand more.

    Good luck~

  21. on July 25th 2012 I sent them the evidence that they asked for it, and they say that they are reviewing it (Response Review) and I will receive something from them within 60 days, so may it takes more than 60 days??

    That's their standard answers.

usually it doesn't take so long.

    you can see my timeline.

However, I think it depends on what RFE.

Mine just a passport size photo from the petitioner.
