  1. Hello all

I'm about to prepare my n-400 and just received the tax transcripts from the IRS. does it matter that in some years they wrote my name differently(last year they didn't have enough room to place my full last name, 2 years they only put the first letter of my name)? the ssn number is correct in all 3 of them.

  2. wow - didn't think there was exactly someone in the same situation as myself.

I'm in the same boat - need to decide if I want to become a US citizen since we are moving back to Australia soon. the Tax implications are scaring me a lot.

We decided that first we will need to talk to an expert Tax accountant that deals with US expats that are Australian residents....superannuation and capital gains tax is the one that most scare us. I found a document yesterday that there is a new agreement between US and Australia about the superannuation...to me it seems we don't need to report it on the FBAR since they are exempt.... but not sure what to make out of it. here is the link to it https://www.kpmg.com/AU/en/IssuesAndInsights/ArticlesPublications/fatca/Documents/fatca-update-superannuation-may-2014.pdf

And just like you - I'm changing my mind every 5 minutes.....

  3. I think you might be in for a bit of a wait

If our case is any indication (and our cases seem very similar) a 221g puts you in yet another queue (the "reconsideration" queue) that can lose you valuable time.

    For instance:

Shirezu got the interview & approval on Oct 9 and the "visa issued" email on Oct 11

We got the interview+221g on Oct 2, returned the requested information on the very same day, and *just* got our visa issued email today, Oct 16

If that holds true for you (not necessarily so because they might have just been backed up) it could be Oct 23 till you get your visa issued email

I hope it's not that long! Hang in there!

Thanks mate..hopefully it's before that. Would love to spend my 4th wedding anniversary with my hubby which is on 25th of October.

At the rate that I'm hassling them(and believe me I can be very persistent) it might happen sooner

  4. Hi everybody, can I ask some advice on the topic of medicals again?

I don't have much at all in the way of immunisation records, especially having moved countries as a child. I think I need to have a blood test to determine what I've had done. The hospital where I was born no longer exists and I doubt I could find my childhood doctor.

So do I make an appointment with the same recommended immigration doctor, and ask them to do this test for me? And they just know what it's all about and what I need to be tested for? And then would they get back to me with the results and call me in to do the next stage, i.e. any additional shots that I need? Just wondering if that sounds like the right procedure.

    Thanks for reading,

    Riss. :)

    Hi there,

I was in a similar situation as yours - didn't have my immunisation records at all.

I just went for the medical and had all the required vaccinations then and there....Can't remember how much it cost but it was better than just going back and forth to the doctor.

    Good luck

  5. Nothing today - souls crushed :(

Now it's looking like 80-90% chance we'll be here another week

Shirezu mentioned getting an email saying the visa has been sent - I have never heard of that before - does everyone get one of those? Or was that an email reply from them?

Going to e-mail the consulate to see if it's even been sent

Days since interview so far: 13

Arghhhhhhh  this is so annoying, I feel your pain.

Maybe tomorrow, cross my fingers for you

  6. We're tracking every 15 minutes blink.gif

Our bags have been packed for 2 weeks and we're so ready to move out of my in-laws' house and get to our vacant home in Las Vegas!

We're in regional NSW so our local Post Office doesn't get the mail till 11am and doesn't sort it until after lunch, about 2pm

Could also be tomorrow I suppose.

Awwwww Las Vegas...one of my favorite places in the US!! and believe it or not I even don't like gambling :)

I'm going to Seattle - my Hubby has a job there(he is already there).

I know how you feel about the "bags have been packed" - I have to leave my house on Friday since we rented it out...plan was to fly on Saturday the 20th but the way things are going it probably won't happen. Will have to change my plane ticket for the week after(and stay with my brother for a few days)

  7. How did the interview go Safety Chick? B-)

    bad.... :crying:

They had a problem with my translated documents, they said I can't translate them by myself even though I'm competent to do so. They said it can't be me or my husband(the petitioner), it has to be a 3rd party.

I already sent them the translated documents back(with a 3rd party translation) they got them On Thursday Morning(Interview was on Tuesday)...I don't think there is a chance I'll get them by the 20th which is too bad because I will have to postpone my flight :( I know everyone tells me I shouldn't have book my flights before I get the visa, but I guess I took the risk.

There is still a slight chance but I'm not holding my breath, hopefully I can be with my husband for our 4th wedding anniversary which is on the 25th of October.

    Cross your fingers for me
