It's messy when their is a divorce and another parent involved who has a say over the child. Wish you the best.
Thanks for your response. It is annoying -- but the child is now 16 and the court had given custody to my husband last year -- so frustrating.
Not to mention -- they embassy has had this information for over a month!!! why the hell don't they look at the paperwork before hand --- sorry just venting -- at least I know that people who read this understand --
My friends here just don't understand -- oh well ---
again thanks for reading

So my husband and his son went to their interviews this morning -= my husband was approved but they said that they had to look into his son's application. They said they needed approval from his mother --- even though there was a court order from the judge saying that once my step son had completed his school in England, he was free to leave. (the mother had initially fought it). Anyways -- they kept his passport and told my husband "they would be in touch"......and that his visa would arrive in the next 7-10 business days. They also initially were not going to see them because there was a birth certificate missing --- that's until my husband found it in their pile of paperwork....very upset right now -- but am keeping positive. I am hoping they actually read what's before them and send both visas!
thanks for reading my long post

I believe they have to be sent by courier DX Secure.
ah! right -- thanks

Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone else was able to take a UK handset (blackberry) to the US and put a US sim in it? I remember asking the US and here in the UK and no one at the phone shops seems to know. As I have brought my phone outright it would be a shame not to use it.
It probably seems so trival to ask but if anyone could share their experiences I would be so grateful!
In relation to the interview, I passed my medical in London and was told all would be okay but has anyone passed a medical in London and then received a RFE at the interview? I disclosed I suffered from depression (reactive depression) about 4 years ago and the doctor said she was satified with the letter but could the embassay request I undergo a psych evaluation? Has this happened to anyone else on here? Also has being 6/7 months pregnant prevented them issuing a visa? I am perhaps worrying unnecessarily but I just want to be prepared for every eventuality.
Thank you for the shipping threads by the way, they have been so useful! I wasnt as ruthless getting rid of CDs/books as I expected!
Thanks in advance all
I think we had tried to do that with my step sons blackberry but it didn't seem to work -- to be honest -- phones are so cheap here -- if you get on a contract they practically give them away -- its worth looking into.
Hope this helps

Does anyone know whether you are able to pick up the visas (once approved) from the Embassy -- or do they have to be sent by courier?
thanks

It's really risky booking anything until the visa is in hand. Things I've seen happen to delay delivery:
--the embassy computers go down causing a backlog
--the courier truck breaks down
--it's summer when everybody is needing a tourist or student visa for fall term
--the visa arrives and the name is misspelled or otherwise needs to go back and be corrected
--the applicant is assigned additional processing (AP) and the visa is not issued for 1-8+ months.
Thanks for that information -- Yeah, we aren't booking anything until the visas are in hand!

London interviews are not like a quiz. They are a short friendly chat. No worries.
Thanks for your reply....I hope its not too long. I am trying to gauge how long it takes them to actually issue the visas once approved. I seemed to have narrowed it down to between 2-6 days ....its so frustrating not being able to book flights already!

July, August, Sept interviews. timeline pls.
hi
I think you can click on my timeline -- I can't remember the exact dates now
I sent off my original paperwork back on Oct17 2011 - my husband has his interview on August 20th -- we had no RFE's - the only hiccup was @ USICS when the had my husband down as 22! lol he is not!
-
It depends on the age of the child I guess, but from what I've read and heard from a friend from England, they really don't ask too many questions of the child. They don't usually interview them separately, and they usually only ask simple questions like 'Are you looking forward to moving to America?'.
Hi there
thanks for taking the time to reply. He is 16. You know how kids are (especially 16 year old boys) they don't have a clue about anything lol -- so I hope they don't start asking him dates and what not --- lol- but he will remember having to wear a tux at our wedding in 100 degree heat
-
Many people have kids together, all it takes is 5 minutes or less. LOL
lol lol

Does anyone have any idea how they go about interviewing our husbands/wives -- and a child? Both my husband and his son have interviews at 10.00am...I assume they interview the child separate? Anyone know anything about that?
thanks

Hi there
Has anyone else heard that the embassy is moving to Wandsworth?
Ah -- I just realized it isn't until 2017 -- so its ok
-
I am waiting too.......I hope to hear something soon.
-
@Holly
I hear you!! You are right though -- if we didn't pay on time it would just take forever......I am now just waiting for them to complete the case -- it looks like we have similar timelines --- as soon as we get an interview date I will be able to breathe -- at least we will have more of an idea about when he is coming
-
Anyone wondered why it takes so long for NVC to do pretty much anything -- yet the minute they enter your information they bill you the very next day? They are so quick to ask for $$$$
-
I have an attorney doing mine and the same thing happened - he called NVC and they said it was fine - that they automatically send that notice out so people don't forget to send in their I-864 form. However, I would talk to somebody there instead of emailing.
Thanks

Hi there
We got our case number today also!!!
-
I applied through CSC on Oct 17 and still no word...I called them and they said that they were still working on Septembers!!! I called them last week.
-
Did he really lie on his application? Did it the night before and was honest until then, then admitted it during is interview. All depends upon how one views this subject, really no harm was done, just filed an application that was a waste of his time anyway. And was soon to be a US citizen.
Say a waste of time because our mailman just retired, this is in a small town, was in the newspaper that over 1,500 applicants applied for that one position, fat chance of anyone getting it. Then also in the papers, that since Obama became president, over 600,000 state and federal employees have been laid off. 90% of them are incompetent anyway and really not providing any worthwhile service to the taxpayers.
Admit a dumb mistake, in particular with the USCIS, can even have a lot of problems with those people even if you are perfect.
That's a little negative...I've been applying for federal jobs -- with many jobs you apply for these days you are competing with lots of people.
I hope the citizenship issue gets sorted out and he doesn't get deported.

Hi everyone
Did anyone else notice that the processing times have changed on the USCIS website?
thanks

Thank you
I totally agree with you...I am glad that they are considering the other parent -- I just hope they actually read the paperwork that they have and issue him a visa.
