  1. Interview was in London on August 20th...approved --- POE in Washington DC on August 30.....CR1 visa -- we have the I-55 temporary evidence right now --- just wanted to know how long it is before the actual card is issued.

We were married a year ago and did the I-130 and 495 at the same time...

    thanks

  2. That is only for Immigrant Visa holders (CR-1, etc). If you checked this box, a Social Security number will NOT be generated for you if you are a K-visa holder. As a K-visa holder, you will need to visit your SSA office.

    He is a CR-1 holder --

I think we will just go down to the social security office together -- that way I can change my name at the same time

    thanks for you input :)

  3. I can imagine...I think I may have met your husband at my medical exam in London...I have a feeling but I am sure their are lots of fathers and sons immigrating. If it is him, I am glad his son will be able to start school. I remember they were saying thats what they were hoping for! :)

Its hard because you need to plan so much to be ready to go and I need to start boxing my stuff up just in case. Its all so uncertain too, your life is in someone else's hands. They took my passport but I walked out of my interview feeling confused whether to celebrate or to hang fire until I receive my visa in my passport.

    Hi there

My husband's name is John -- his son is 16 and is taller than him. Short dark hair -- :) its funny how people run into each other. Hopefully they will send your visa soon!! I left England in 1990 and went thru this process - I really do know how you feel --- On the subject of school -- I talked to the school here and they can't get us in until Sept 10th for an appointment!!!!! The kids went back this past Monday.

Did you check the DX website to see if its been sent out for delivery yet?

    good luck x

  4. I paid the courrier. Just called dept of state and they said its pending in administrative processing. Not what I wanted to hear really. My interview was thursday. She couldnt tell me anything else.

I honestly think they will do what they did to my husband -- he only paid for his visa (for the courier) but they ended up sending both visas with the courier. The fact that you paid for the courier is a good sign I think and also that they didn't give you any paperwork is also a good sign. Fingers crossed for you ......and your baby :)

My husband interviewed last Monday and the visas showed up on Friday --- they were fingers and thumbs opening them wondering if both would be in there.

    Please keep us informed xx

  5. Hi All,

I had my interview on thursday last week and the consular officer said pending checks your visa is approved. When I aksed him what checks, he said oh just standard checks. I was not given a pink form and he took my passport from me. Does it sound as if I am in AP? I am really confused. People seemed to have had a more definite answer about their approval on here and I wasnt sure if this was normal?

    Thanks :-)

    Hi there

My husband went last Monday and his was approved and his son's wasn't,. They told him the same thing -- we just need to check some things -- well they didn't say anything but sent Connor's visa with his Dad's --

Did you pay for the courier?

    good luck xx

  6. Sorry you had a sucky week Pooky. My week is off to a sucky start. I'm starting to hate coming to work lastely, which is a feeling I very much dislike. I went for pistachio pudding today to help with the stress.

Cool about your meetup Gemmie. I've met a few VJers and have always had fun! I'm meeting another VJer next month in London. She was in the US but has subsequently moved back to the UK. I'm looking forward to it! :)

ETA: Welcome to the bitchfest fifitrix!

  7. Hi there

Just wanted to let you know that my husband got some reasonable flights from flightcentre in the UK.

I'm not sure how they compare -- but he is flying on Thursday with Virgin and both flights cost 520 pounds each (pound sign??)

  8. Hello fellow Brits!!

So my husband went for his interview on Monday and his visa is being delivered tomorrow!!

I haven't updated my timeline because his son's was not approved as of yet -- they didn't deny -- just wanted to look at the paperwork a bit more. Said they would be in touch.

I just wanted to post here and let everyone know that it took 5 days -- including the interview date Mon 20th (our first year anniversary) and it's set to arrive tomorrow!!!

    Good luck everyone

I am a brit too -- but have american citizenship also

Today both visas showed up!!!!

  9. Hey Snowbird! I know exactly how you feel. Got married to my hubby in December, sent the petition in March and it has been a LONG 5 months. Just know that you two love each other and maybe try to do some things to take your mind off missing each other. My hubby and I start planning camping trips, looking for our dream house (although we can't afford it), and other things just to bond, spend time together and mostly forget about the distance between us. It will get better soon!

That's too funny about you planning trips.....I think we have planned to travel to pretty much everywhere!! And what we will do for the first Christmas, Thanksgiving even Halloween!!! We have also looked at houses and where we want to live.....

  11. Hi everyone

So I had posted on Monday that my husband's visa was approved and that his son's was not. They didn't deny it -- just said they wanted to look over the paperwork some more (my husband has full custody and a court order that says his son is free to leave with him -- he is also 16 years old)

Anyways -- my husband's visa is set to arrive tomorrow. It was very fast and am happy for that. Still fingers crossed on Connor's visa.

    Thanks
