  1. Completed DS 261 on March 10th and got confirmation. Got an email from the NVC that the form wasn't completed. Resubmitted and got another confirmation.

Since that, I have called the NVC three times and keep getting told to wait as the form is in review. It is a simple form. I chose not to appoint an agent as I am in the USA currently visiting I confirmed with the NVC agent that this was acceptable. Now its been 6 weeks going into 7 weeks and we have paid and submitted the AOS fees but cannot move forward as the DS 260 is not yet available.

What can I do at this time as so much time is being wasted.

  2. NVC requests evidence of relationship but father & daughter are in 2 different countries. The father's name is not on her birth certificate or baptismal record and they are requesting evidence like that.

How can he provide evidence when he is in the USA and the daughter is in the Jamaica? Can he do a DNA BEFORE the NVC requests it? How could he do it if he cannot go to Jamaica at this time?

  3. I guess the question you both have to ask your selves is, "Which is more important to me? Having my married name on my legal documents in the US or a quick uninterrupted process?" If the time required to get a new passport is not that long or the interview date is a long way out, then getting a new passport will not affect the processing time. However, if the passport processing time extends beyond the interview date, you will delay the issuing of your visa until you get your new passport. Up to you to decide which is more important to you--name verses processing time.

    Good luck,

    Dave

Thanks. I know Jamaica has an express service so I am trying to do that with space well BEFORE the interview date. I will update if I do this and see how it goes.

  4. my husband sent in : Federal tax transcripts (the most previous years). w2s, biography page of his passport, marriage certification, recent pay stubs, Job letter, birth certificate. and in the IV package bcuz we sent both the same time: my birth certificate, marriage certificate, 2 passport photo, police record, biography page of my passport

Thanks, so you sent in TWO original marriage certificates?

When do we send in all the pictures and stuff that I hear others speaking of?

  5. Guess today was my day. After weeks of trying (100+ redials last week Wednesday alone) I FINALLY got them a while ago. Took me 49 minutes on hold but got the case number. Sheesh..now to move on in this process. At this rate the delay doesnt even matter as we are going to wait on the 2nd anniversary August 10th before I enter. I am in the USA until May and so it will be two months apart but well worth the permanent card and less stress to adjust.

  6. I do not know which step I am missing but the NVC got my case on January 22nd and to date I have heard nothing from them. I have called repeatedly and the phone (603-334-0700) rings once and then disconnects. I have sent an email and have received no response as well. How else can I find out my NVC number as it has been more than 7 weeks at this time. I was not as worried as I had to wait on a UK police clearance certificate that only came last week. However, now that I have everything in hand, I am concerned that I do not have the case number as yet.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  7. i'm not sure why you bothered to change the address with the USCIS after the case is with the NVC? Of course the NVC didn't send it back to them, it's still at the NVC.

HI I had to as I am a visitor in the USA and am required by law to change my address according to the B1/B2 visa rules. We changed the petitioner's address with USCIS as the operator there told us we should.

  8. We changed address with USCIS as required for correspondence but now we got a notice saying case is back to initial review. My husband as the petitioner changed address and I as a visitor in the country changed my address with USCIS as well as that is required by law ( the UCSIS customer service said this must be done within 10 days of a move).

Has this happened to anyone else. Our case was approved Jan 13th and sent to the NVC. I called the NVC last Friday and they acknowledged receipt of the case on Jan 22nd but it had not been entered into their system as yet.

Do I need to be concerned that the case is back in initial review?

  9. You are mistaken. All aliens, both immigrants (permanent residents) and nonimmigrants (including visitors) are required to keep USCIS informed of their current address at all times. It is a federal crime that carries a punishment of up to a $500 fine and / or up to 30 days in federal prison if you fail to do so.

OP, you should use your old US address as your old address, and your new address as the new address (obviously).

    To be clear

When we applied my husband had his US address and my Jamaica was in Jamaica. How do I put the old address then as my husband's US address when that is not the permanent address that USCIS has on file for me? Just trying to be sure before filling out the form given that the form does not allow me to enter that Jamaican address.

  10. I entered the USA in December and can stay until June but will be returning home in May 2014. Do I need to change my address with USCIS since I am here temporarily. We moved to Columbia SC on January 19-20 so today makes 10 days since we moved. I just changed address for the petitioner on USCIS site. How do I change my address? Do I use the same form?

I must say that my name is on the apartment title here even though I do not plan to stay but rather return home to Jamaica to complete the filing. Suggestions? Recommendations on the best way to handle this. I do not want to enter the wront thing. After all I am not going to be living here permanently yet.
