  1. Catch 22 is a satire movie, in essense to get "this" done you need to do "this other thing" but you can't do "this other thing" until "this" is done... so you can never do anything..

LOL  well,a never ending of praise and gratitude for a big help!!now,i can sleep well!!

  2. Really you records are not showing up at SSA? You are like the 5th or 6th I have read of having issues with SSA and DHS regarding records, wonder what is up?

We applied for the EA (Employment Authorization) card and AP card when we did AOS being they are free when filing then, USCIS sent a combo card in a couple months for the EA/AP and then my wife got her green card a month or two after that. Once you get the EA card you can work... I know sort of like a Catch 22 at the moment.

thank you hank!we are tired of calling SSA.USCIS and other sourse,it takes forever and so frustrating.what i am thinking now.maybe i had to wait for EAD/AP and by then i have to reapply for SSN.im sure they will not tell us, i do not any record in homeland at that time :-( and what is Catch 22?congratulation to your wife it seems she got her CG at very short span of time waiting.

  3. NO, you do not need to apply for AOS before the I-94 expires. As long as you were married before the 90 day mark all is good. Delaying AOS will not be an issue. As for the medical, the one you had at St. Luke's is good for a year so as long as you file for AOS before reaching that date you should be good. In theory you only need to send in the 3025 vaccination record, but many have said to go to a civil surgeon and have the 3025 transcribed to the 693 and send that with your application - that is what we did just to avoid an RFE for not having the 693.

** note: some civil surgeons try to stiff you for a medical exam when you go to them to transcribe the 3025 to the 693. The civil surgeon we found only did the transcribing without issue.

:star: you are really an angel hank, thank so very much.....i am happy now and relieve!!!i fell pity for my husband working hard wish i could work now too.so,that i can help him.but, unluckily until npow SSA can not even issue me SSN for they said i do not have any record fro homeland :-( it seems all the trial falling down on me!!!i know god will give me smile one day,,,again a million thanks hank, god bless you.:innocent:

  4. i am always relieve bringing up my worries and confusion everytime i am here.and thanks to those ever supportive members!once again i am here hoping to get help.i am already married but my I-94 will expire next month.my concern is..do i really need to apply for my AOS right before the expiration of my I-94?and if ever i could not apply for AOS and my I-94 will expire do i be deliberately out of status?honestly because of the expenditure thru out processing since k-1 visa until my travel here.my husband still trying to raise the amount we need to pay for the AOS :-( i hoping for help once again and advises are highly appreciated.

and one thing,is medical here in USA is one of requirement for AOS?or records of the saint lukes will be okay?my sincerest gratitude for the help..

  5. We also had POE in Guam back in September 26. We applied for SSN on October 11 here in California which was 2 weeks after my wife's arrival. We got the exact same response about how there was no record and check back in 2 weeks....fast forward and we've been going back and forth with SSN and we've been in at least 4 times over the last 2.5 months and now my wife's I-94 is expired. What was crazy we even got a letter from SSN written on December 7 stating that a receipt shows we applied for SSN card on OCtober 11, the SSN Card would be delivered in about 2 weeks by December 21. Her I-94 expired Decmber 25...Now that it's expired we get a notice from SSN stating they can't issue her a Social Security Card at this time because:

Your legal immigration status and/or document(s) will expire before an SSN card can be issued to you.

The I-94 has expired and the VISA in your passport does not have the correct authorization to issue a number.

Please notify Social Security upon any change, including any extension, in you status. Thank You

Even though measures have been taken well in advance and we've followed everything SS has told us to do, now they apparently can't help us because Homeland Security's reluctance due to the expiration of I-94... The local SS office, it's been moved up the chain to someone in regional let's see what happens next. Apparently Social Security and Homeland Security work seperately from each other and nobody seems to be willing to take the blame for whomever is resposible for this debacle...

OMG,,so what are we ganna do?is this mean we have to wait for approval of our AOS and by then thats the time they will issue us SSN?that ridiculuos.friend of mine they were here days or weeks upon there arrival they got their SSN right away and their SSN is permitted them to work it says!now my head spin...

wow,,,i thought gone are the stressful time of desperately waiting and processing of papers while im in philippines :-( but here we go again :-( huh help help help..

  6. Send an e-mail to the main SSA office on their web site and explain your situation to them. The should give you an e-mail to take to the local office to resolve this. It sounds like your I-94 is still valid. you may want to go to the local SSA office and have them look you up using the maiden name and get the number that way and then go back and chenge the last name. You have until 2 weeks before the i-94 expires to get the SSN without waiting for the EAD or GC. It sounds like the people in Guam are not well trained on the dealings with a K-1 visa. Talking to USCIS is a waste of time as they can tell you one thing, but it is the SSA you want to get the card from not USCIS. The only thing of value USCIS can do is verify you are in the system and all information--name, DOB, etc--is correct.

    Send e-mail NOW!!

    Good luck,

    Dave

hi dave, thank you for the advice i will try to send an email today to the SSA main office.see if what they can do with my ordeal :-(

  7. so, you not apply in visa name, 3 to 4 weeks after arrival, right? Why not ?

i did apply at SSA my visa name 3 weeks after my arrival here.i intentionally try to apply in that time coz i was thinkin that would be enough time for my POE to forward my doc.to the homeland :-( but,why this is still happen?huh...frustrated!

  8. hey! we went to homeland security here in won pat airport. they told me that its impossible that they do not have any record of me arriving here in guam bec they issued me the form i94, that's basically the proof that we got here in guam.

so we asked them why SSA is saying that i dont have any records! you know what they told me? I SHOULD ADJUST MY STATUS FIRST BEFORE THEY CAN ISSUE MY SSN!

so my husband and i were both shocked! because i have friends here in guam who got their ssn even if they haven't adjusted their status yet.

they also told us to go to uscis local office here in guam and make an appointment.

wth happened here in guam? did they change the process? help!!!

    [/quot

hi gud evening ohh im sorry it is night time here in south dakota i bet it is day time in guam right now.that is horrible and they make us confused it is not true that we need to apply for AOS status b4 we get an SSN .bacause i have a friend who came here just a week ahead of me and she is not even married yet but,she got here ssn already.huh what the heck is happening to our records?my friend even issued by SSA a SSN that authorize her to work?whew all i know we need to file for EAD b4 we can work here?confusing really.so what we had to do now?i got married last 18th of dec,and by next week we're planning to apply for AOS.i hope it wont be a conflict for our application :-(

thank u so much for your effort..god bless.

  9. i see. i guess it will be a case to case basis then depending on what the consul might ask for huh :hehe: oh well, i'm glad that the pictures are seems to be the best proof that we can provide and i will just have to be well-prepared with the other things that might be needed as well. your experience seems to be an easy one (as i can see it  )

and i hope mine can be like that too when it comes :D

thank you for your reply, helps a lot. God bless

you're very welcome :-) yeah u r right too! just be prepare!and specially those forms and requirements are complete...i am sure your visa will be approve :-) and showing to the consul that you know your fiance(e) very well.i will share with you my experience to my american consul he ask about my fiance(e) back round i guess thats the most part that he belive the relation is true :-) he was surprise when he ask me about my fiance police record :-) huh the handsome consul smile at me and said you know about it?:-) very well explain!!okay GOOD LUCK to your interview god bless!!

  10. hello Vj'ers world!

this forum has been of big help for me by answering some of the questions that just keep on popping out of my mind while waiting for that "big day" when my petition gets approved. my fiance had received (12-26-12) the NOA1 letter with a confirmation number that the packet he sent had arrived in Texas box office. and based on what i read on the internet, the time frame for a K1 visa processing is 5mos more or less(corrections are welcome :D ). so for now, all we can do is wait and keep on praying that it will be approved sooner than expected (just hoping  )

my question is, will there be any problem if we don't use snail mails or any phone calls as our way of communication? but we do chat everyday for a year now and we make sure that the conversations are being saved to use as a proof of our on-going relationship and some emails too but not as many as our chat conversations. he visited me twice last year and made a trip together on the last one so we have lots of photos together but no date imprinted on them and we saved almost all the receipts, hotel papers, airplane tickets, engagement ring etc. so the only thing we don't have right now are snail mails or cards or any phone bills since we find it more convenient and cheaper to use the internet instead. do you think there will be a disadvantage if we can't show those kind of evidences at the interview?

your advice will be much appreciated specially those who had gone through all this process.. :D

    newbie :)

pictures are the most strong proof they're going to ask you,me and my fiance(e)gather lots of receipt.we even print tons of our chats :-) phone calls, but none of them was ask.and i was even surprise when i had my final interview with the american consul coz he did not care to ask photos or any proof of relationship :-) of course he ask me some question :-)

but, anyhow just be ready coz their are lots of consulim sure they have deferrent ways.good luck!!!

  11. hey! i have the same problem with you! i was about to apply for my ssn yesterday but they told me they don't have any records of me arriving here in Guam. This is so frustrating, i've been here for 2 mos already!

i called the immigration here in Guam, they told me to come in their office and bring the letter SSA gave me together with my passport and i94. i'll give you an update, i think i might go there later or maybe tomorrow.

are you in guam?well,i would gladly appreciate and be waiting some news from you!god bless.

  12. You are the 2nd person who recently said that SSA does not show as having records to complete the SS card application, makes a person wonder who is dropping the ball SSA or USCIS.

I would not worry with filing your AOS, all your documents are in the USCIS system along with the packet you delivered at POE.

THANK IN A MILLION HANK YOU ARE ALWAYS IN THE RESCUE :-) i am just hoping that all of this mess will not really affect or might be a nightmare to me and my husband regarding my AOS application!!!!i do not understand why SS here told me i do not any record thats why i have not recieve my ssn card :-( i was wondering if guam keep hold of my record?and why?

  23. ************ INTERVIEW DAY: Remember no electronics are allowed in the embassy; no cell phones, no cameras, no memory stiks. And no food. **************

You can do CFO before your interview, then only need to go back to get the sticker in your passport before flying out.

    CFO:

ALL exiting required to attend. There have been changes regarding CFO so for sure read through their website.

Update: Please check the schedule of the counseling session before proceeding to CFO because it is country-specific and the slots are limited only to 15 per session. It is on a first-come-first-serve basis.

    http://www.cfo.gov.ph/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1348:fiancee-spouses-and-other-partners-of-foreign-nationals&catid=140

Required documents & "OTHER DOCUMENTS" they ask for at CFO: copies of; CENOMAR, certified birth certificate, bio page of passport, visa page from passport, pictures together, from USC - bio page of passport, birth certificate, divorce decree (if been married before) are the most common. The "other documents" clause can be ANYTHING with those nit-wits at CFO.

** From the Family Code of the Philippines: it's 21-25 years old for advice and 18-21 years old for consent.

Art. 14. In case either or both of the contracting parties, not having been emancipated by a previous marriage, are between the ages of eighteen and twenty-one, they shall, in addition to the requirements of the preceding articles, exhibit to the local civil registrar, the consent to their marriage of their father, mother, surviving parent or guardian, or persons having legal charge of them, in the order mentioned. Such consent shall be manifested in writing by the interested party, who personally appears before the proper local civil registrar, or in the form of an affidavit made in the presence of two witnesses and attested before any official authorized by law to administer oaths. The personal manifestation shall be recorded in both applications for marriage license, and the affidavit, if one is executed instead, shall be attached to said applications. (61a)

Art. 15. Any contracting party between the age of twenty-one and twenty-five shall be obliged to ask their parents or guardian for advice upon the intended marriage. If they do not obtain such advice, or if it be unfavorable, the marriage license shall not be issued till after three months following the completion of the publication of the application therefor.A sworn statement by the contracting parties to the effect that such advice has been sought, together with the written advice given, if any, shall be attached to the application for marriage license. Should the parents or guardian refuse to give any advice, this fact shall be stated in the sworn statement.

thank you hanks for the help.....god bless..
