As they said, it takes about 30 days/4weeks for the NOA1. Worry if you don't get anything after 30 days.

Try another SSN office in your area or speak to their supervisor that knows the process.
I was thinking about going to the one in Daly City. I will wait until next week and I might do that. Thanks Tin!

Hi everyone! I would like to ask for your advice regarding my problem with social security. I got here February 28th so my I-94 expires May 28th...I decided to get SSN after marriage so I don't have to come back to change my name since I found out, some did that and did not have any problems at all. Less than a week after marriage I went to SSA here in Vallejo, CA and applied for one and the guy said I can't anymore since I'm married and my I-94 and my visa's marital status was single. I asked if even though my I-94 is not expired yet, I still can't?.. He said no and I have to be back when I get my EAD. July 29th my EAD was approved...August 6th I went back to SSA and they accepted my application BUT the lady said my status in their computer system that is connected to USCIS is not updated yet...she gave me a letter and said that I have to wait up to 4 weeks cause sometimes it needs time for statuses to get updated and if still nothing comes in the mail, call the number that is shown in the letter. Exactly 4 weeks I called, the customer service said I have to go to SSA where I applied since they can't check it in the computer...I called another time hoping for a different response and still the same thing. Today I went there to inquire and the guy was even surprised that I have my GC already and why is it that I didn't have my SSN card yet...he checked and he let me fill up the same form I filled up when I went last August cause the lady that catered me did not put on the computer all my data...and he gave me a letter stating the same thing saying I have to wait up to 4 weeks and call him directly on his number if I hear nothing, and that my status is still not updated yet. I don't understand how and why? #1. How come they told me to come back when I have my EAD and when I had it it's no good... #2. How did that lady forget to enter my data? SSN application is a very important thing and to just say they did not enter it for whatever reason, I just don't understand and I honestly don't know what to say. #3. How and why is that my status in USCIS is not updated yet? It took so fast for them to approve my case and I am so thankful for that but I really can't believe USCIS forgets to update them, it has been more than a month for my EAD and 2 weeks for my AOS. But anyway, I am not mad or anything, not even at SSA office earlier cause I know there's no reason to and it wouldn't help at all, plus the guy at SSA was nice to give me his direct line to follow up the case.
Can anybody give me suggestions on what to do? Should I call USCIS about this or should just wait another 4 weeks? It's so hard not to have SSN cause you can't even open bank account in some banks and most especially when you are looking for a job. So anyone here have experienced similar case, your input is very much welcome and appreciated! Thank you so much!!!

I actually have tried Craigslist and got couple of responses. I'm a nurse but still preparing to apply for NCLEX. About to start training as dental receptionist as part time job this Saturday, but just wanted to try luck on online job as an extra income. Thanks for your response!

Did you try to call NVC? Keep trying everyday till they give you one.

Hello everyone! Anyone knows any online jobs here in the US? Thanks!

It took 7 days for us including weekends. Noa1 is usually expected within 30 days upon submission. You should be good!

My husband went wit me but when I was called, he just waited where we were sitting...and he can see me anyway. It was just a small office. You'll be fine..

Just for comparison purposes, if that hospital accepts Medicare patients, they would only receive $2,000.00 for an appendicitis.
A study done at a group of California hospitals showed this surgery can run anywhere from $1,500.00 to over $187,000.00, just depends on which hospital you select. But is an emergency type of surgery, so you really cannot shop around.
Did have time to shop around for that I-693 USCIS health form from USCIS approved doctors, like a couple of hours. Received quotes from anywhere around $700 to over $5,500.00 per person. Would try to negotiate this price for your surgery, but I feel they should be happy with what Medicare pays They still can make a nice profit with this amount.
Thank you for your response! We are trying our luck for whatever discount they can give...whatever it is, we'll take it. Then we will go from there to negotiate for a payment plan. Hopefully we can get a good deal since it's just my husband who's working for now.

Weird but it happens..Congratulations for being so lucky!

You should be fine, "Medicaid and other health insurance and health services (including public assistance for immunizations and for testing and treatment of symptoms of communicable diseases, use of health clinics, short-term rehabilitation services, prenatal care and emergency medical services) other than support for long-term institutional care" Is not considered a public charge.
Thank you so much for your very helpful input!
Now I'm relieved..
Hi TatTot! I would suggest you fill out the forms that Kaiser sent out to you. You will be informed whether or not you are qualified for a financial support but you'll never know until you get those papers sent out to them. You are now a member, they would rather have you than loose you and Kaiser is pretty good at helping out their members in dire straits. Try it first and worry less. You wouldn't want to go back to the hospital, right? Stress wouldn't do you any good. God bless!
Thank you Lulmee! Yes, filled out the forms and will mail it on Tuesday.. I got relieved...and true, Kaiser is really good. #saynotostress
God bless!
Cant give exact answer about Kaiser, but I know you can apply to
hospital you had surgery for reduction and payment plans
Thanks Jihana! Will do that

Hello everyone! I need advice on my situation...
I am the beneficiary, came here Feb of this year as K1, scheduled to get married april 19th...april 13th I had a surgery for the removal of my appendix then was able to recover for 6 days for our wedding. I was not on my husband's insurance yet that time but I was enrolled right after marriage. The bill came recently and it came out close to $25,000 which is pretty big for me and my husband since I am not working yet. I got my working permit approved this August, still looking for a job and my AOS got approved this past monday. My husband called Kaiser and explained our situation and if it's possible to lower down the bill since I am now on his insurance under kaiser as well. The customer service told us we could apply for financial support on kaiser and it is possible to waive all the bill or cut it to a certain percentage since it was my first major operation and I am now a Kaiser member. They sent us a financial support form and it is directly from Kaiser Permanente as labeled. Now my question is, am I allowed to do that? Am I allowed to ask for that kind of financial support? I am truly confused on what to do right now since I realized how hard life is here if there's only one of you who works. Thank you so much and have a great day!!!

it depends, if they are filling the form I-130 they ask for both benefiary and petitioner G325A
thats whay i said both but after that i realize i didnt really specify why or which what form
sorry about that
They are K1 filers based on their timeline thus only the beneficiary needs to fill up G325A form..

hi TatTot! we have the same situation. I applied for AOS last may 31, 2013, just this week I have checked the USCIS website, my status was changed from Acceptance to Testing and Interview, but I haven't received any e-mail from USCIS regarding with the change of status. Did you receive a mail notice as to when and where your interview is? What is the status of your EAD? Mine is still Initial Review.
Hi! My status was updated again last July 25th that they mailed me the notice and I got it yesterday. August 26th is my interview date. Ead has no update yet. Well wishes to all of usTatTot and Irah.. we have similar situations!

Moved to a new address but still the same mailing...HELP!
in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion

Hi everyone!
I am due for my ROC soon (end of May). My husband and I moved out from his parents' house last September, however we didn't change our mailing address for the most part like DMV and others since we still use his parents' house for our mail, aside from our bills here at the apartment. Also, we still go home to his parents' house for at least 4 times a month. Thus I wasn't able to file change of address at USCIS/NVC, and for my ROC and everything in the future I will still be using his parents house as our mailing address, just because we feel that our mail are safer there and we know we will not be here in the apartment permanently. My question is, on the ROC form, it says Physical address, and mailing address, I believe I should put our apartment as our physical address...however, am I suppose to report our apartment address at NVC/USCIS even though our mailing address is still the same? and again, we moved last September, am I in trouble? Please help! Thank you!
