no i'm inheriting part of my mothers estate
-
My daughter obtained her green card in April and will need to get a student loan to offset her financial aid package - will we be able to do this considering we have no credit here?
-
I recently received a conditional green card as I married an American. I have been reading that when I become a permanent resident I need to sever all ties with Canada such as driver's license etc. Should I do this considering my visa is conditional and there is a possibility I would have to go back to Canada?

I received my conditional visa in April of this year. My mother died in Canada last year so have been dealing with her estate as an executor during my visa process. The estate lawyer has now told me that since I have become a permanent resident they must hold back twenty five percent of my inheritance for something called compliance. I am wondering if this actually applies when I am only here on a conditional visa.
-
I'm not sure if I clicked that box or not - we applied so long ago that most of our paperwork was actual paper sent by mail

I will be married for two years in June and then my visa would not have had to be conditional
-
Hi all - after 19 months my daughter and I received our visas last week - yay! However, when I took my daughter to get an SSN I was told we could not get one as our visas are conditional. This means she cannot apply for financial aid for school or get a part time job etc , She just turned 18. Is there any way around this? Does this mean we cannot get a drivers license, insurance etc. We are permanent residents now yet can't seem to be able to do anything Canadian citizens by the way. Any help would be appreciated. The real kicker is if I had known I could have put off the interview until June and our two years would be up and none of this would be happening

I have my interview on Monday and on Tuesday and Thursday I was sent emails from the consulate asking for more things. Anyone have this happen to them? It has made me very nervous.
-
So I accidentally started filling out the non immigrant one now that I have input my email it will not let me use it correctly. Called the embassy in Toronto twice and they were useless and could do nothing about it. Any thoughts?

Help! I"m having a mental block or something. We filed in September 2013 and I thought we did most of our stuff on paper and sent via mail. I am still trying to register for Loomis and my appointment is Monday and I can not figure out this DS form. Yes I have looked it up and it does not look familiar. Is it possible we did something else as our case has been going on so long? I'm desperate

ok thanks - not sure why I wasn't told that but I will do that
-
Ok , sorry still a bit confused. Are you saying at the interview they will just have me pay and register for the courier?
-
Yes it see that sight - but the only choice that seems relevant is registering an interview? I'm not sure why I would need to do that when I already have been given a date and time?
-
You need to register for courier services. An interview was booked for you by the NVC I presume?
yes it was but no where does the letter tell me to register for the courier?
My letter just had my date and time on it. There was no mention of registering for a courier which is why I am very confused

I received a letter with at date for my interview in Montreal. No where in that letter did it tell me to register with a courier to have my visa and passport returned. Also, I have been reading on here about packets? I did not receive a packet, just emails or letters. Help!
-
I still don't have an answer to this question. When I go onto the site to book Loomis, it only say to do this if you have booked an interview. I didn't book an interview, I was given the date and time ..

I have my interview coming up and I keep reading that I need to file for a courier to send my passport and visa if approved. I have not received any information on this. How can I find this out?
-
But in the letter they ask for the transcript and the tax schedule as two separate items - I have already sent the transcript
-
I am also worried about this - my husbands income is insufficient by about sixty dollars per year - the letter said the consulate officer will make the decision. Any thoughts on this?

Hi all - I applied for my spousal Visa in September 2013, After an extremely long wait, I have my interview date for this month. They have asked me to bring a tax schedule for 2013 and I cannot find out what this is. Even the person that does my husbands income tax doesn't know. Could anyone enlighten me? Thanks

Hi all - We filed at the beginning of September of last year - the process is taking so long and I'm so frustrated. Could use some encouragement at this point
-
Hello all - i'm trying to follow all of this but having a difficult time - I know everything seems to be stalled at this point for September filers - any thoughts as to when this might get sorted out

I have been married to an American man for two years but just got my green card(conditional) and moved here last month. I bought a house here and paid cash for it. Now every time we have a fight he says he is going to divorce me and basically I will be deported and made to move out of the house I purchased. I have been trying to make this work as my daughter also moved here but realize there is a lot of mental and financial abuse going on. If he does go file for divorce, do I have any recourse since I have now moved my lift here?
