Apparently filing CR1 from outside the US is much faster than filing from within, in our case it took less than 4 months to complete the entire process start to finish.

I agree. Get married there and file from abroad. Like Michael82 we filed from abroad and our whole process is likely to be concluded in 4 months and that includes having RFE's at NVC.

I have submitted Form I-130 and G-325A forms for me and my wife. I also filled a form saying that my mom as my joint sponsor. I really want to celebrate Christmas with my wife, I just really hope everything will turn out great and I'll be needing suggestions and advice for us to have a smooth sailing visa process.

There are a lot of variables but it is still possible to get through the process by Christmas. While you are waiting for your NOA2 (petition approval) read up on everything you need to get ready. Assume you get NOA2 by October (6 months) then another month for them to assign a case number, you could make it through NvC in one month or less (if you are really prepared and don't get any RFE's).

it's taking 4+ weeks from NOA2 to get a case number at the moment, so I would say yours should come through within the next 10 days or so. I hope it comes through sooner for you.

I submitted the IV package with both parts of the DS 230 last week Friday via FedEx and it was delivered in Monday May 21, 2012. Today I received a letter (Checklist) from NVC dated May 21, 2012 stating that they reviewed my documents and that they are missing the immigrant visa application package. I called them to tell them that I had sent it and that it had been delivered on Monday and they said to allow 20 days for them to process it. I am confused because i sent the IV package as soon as the IV fees showed as paid and I attached the barcode cover sheets as instructed. So why are they sending me mail saying they are missing the package if it was not even due to begin with?

My second question is that the letter I received today came with a case number barcode cover sheet and says that I should submit my IV package with the THAT cover sheet. The cover sheet they sent looks different from the one I printed from the internet. should I resent teh IV package with the new cover sheet they sent to me? Calling the NVC has not been productive because they just keep saying to give them 20 days to process the application. I am a little frustrated so any sound advice would be greatly appreciated.

This is what is called a false checklist and almost always means your AOS package has been received and reviewed. You will have case closed soon. Good luck.

I don't know what they stand for they are just different processing areas at NVC.

Your lawyer has given you the wrong information. You will definitely get a checklist for the unsigned DS230 and missing original documents. If I were you I would send them all to your husband in preparation for the checklist. That way as soon as it is received he can sent them in with the barcoded cover sheet.

Once received it won't take long to close your case. My case closed 2 days after they received the response to the checklist.

I just called and gave my email adress and my wifes email and the lady reassured me everything was OK and that she had no record of them sending anything out, she restated that I do not need to do anything else and just wait for the normal email to arrive though my email address and hers

Are you doing electronic processing? Have you submitted your choice of agent form? If you dont sub,it that you won't get the IV bill.

THE NVC NEED A PHOTOCOPY OF VALID PASSPORT BIOGRAPHIC PAGE, IS THIS MINE PASSPORT IM THE USC OR HIS?? HE DOES NOT HAVE A MEXICAN PASSPORT SO WOULD HE HAVE TO GET ONE??

If this is for a spouse visa then you will need a copy of the biographic page of his passport and yours (USC). Also, like reginakrys said, the beneficiary MuST have a passport or where will the embassy put the visa?

I called the NVC today and they said that I needed to submit my mothers orginal birth certificate and orginal marriage license. I had sent them a certified copy of the birth certificate and a copy (not certified) of the marriage license. The birth certificate is not an issue but my mother does not have the original of her marriage certificate. She has was divorced from my father in 2000 and my father has since passed away. I sent the NVC certified copied of the divorce decree and my father's death certificate so I am really confused as to why they insist on us sending the original marriage certificate. Has anyone been in a position where you have been unable to provide an original that the NVC requested and how can I get past this? I really cant wait to be done with the NVC.

I have been in a similar situation where I provided the original certifate but NVC thoughtnit was a copy. I would call and speak to them. Explain your situation. If you can speak with a supervisor. A supervisor reviewed my situation and closed my case withou the originals ( providing I brought them to the interview). It's not the same situation but worth speaking to a supervisor about.

I just called the NVC and received my Case & IIN #. She stated they just received it and will be sending me an email shortly.

For those of you who are waiting for your Case & IIN # keeping calling every day. I called yesterday and the lady said call back next week. So I called today and I was given my info.

Please help me out here, I need your advice.This is our situation, me and my husband is currently living together here in the Philippines, when we filed the I-130 we used his Mom's address in the US for them (USCIS) to send forms and stuffs, 2 days ago we just got our NOA2 (HAPPY ^__^) so my questions is,

What to do about "Choice of Agent" , who is a better choice of agent the USC or me (Alien Spouse? Will it matter since me and my husband are both living abroad (Philippines)?

It won't matter. My husband (USC) resides with me in Australia and I selected myself as choice of agent. In addition to this NVC once they recieve your file will ask for both the petitioner and beneficiary email addresses so all communication goes to both making the choice of agent form redundant.

You still need to send it in, quickest way is email. Join the NVC June thread for a template.

We applied from Australia and were approved in 8 days. In fact the whole process from the time we sent in the I130 to case closed is less than 3 months for us. If we were prepared we could have made it through NVC in a few weeks.

I can't quite believe it. I think I just got case closed. Got an email from a supervisor in response to my email from last week and was told:

"The NVC has completed it's processing of xxxxx's visa petition. The petition is waiting for an appointment to be scheduled at the US consulat/embassy in Sydney."

Is this really case closed???

I hope we all get case completes, interview dates, case numbers and invoices ASAP.

The start of the month seems to be the best time at NVC so I am keeping my fingers crossed for all of us!

This is the message my wife sent me:

OK my wife got a case # and invoice # from the NVC yesterday. Am I correct in thinking the next thing we need to do is e-mail the Choice of Agent form the NVC?

Yes, email the choice of agent ASAP. See post one for the template. And also check the payment portal with your case number and IIN to see if your AOS bill has been invoiced. Your DS bill will only be invoiced once they recieve and accept your choice of agent.

First time during this process I have burst into tears

I don't know what to do. We got a checklist for my divorce cert even though we sent the original. Then ordered a new urgent certified copy and overnight express posted it. It arrived wed at 10 am.

Why I am upset is we got two checklists for my son's DS230 which we sent and was received on Friday 18th May (almost two weeks ago). It was sent in the package with the AOS which has been reviewed and accepted. The checklist is generic which makes me think it's false but shouldn't have they revved this package by now? Does this checklist mean they have lost my package?

Also has anyone else argued successfully that the document they sent was the original? A supervisor is looking Into this for us.

The worst part is I may have secured a job with my old company which has a US office (awesome job) but they will want me to start ASAP. Now it looks like I won't even get a July interview!!!! Aaaarrrgggghhhh!

Is there anyway I can get an expedite based NvC error with possibly losing my documents and not accepting an original?

Just wanted to update this post in case others are in the same boat. Found a site called shipping easy.com where I shipped the package overnight (arrives Tuesday at 10:30am) for $138AUD. This was shipped through UPS and was significantly cheaper than going through UPS directly (saved around $60).

I have just realized that we didn't put our income on all three lines for the question regarding income for the past three years on the I864. Is this going to guarantee us another checklist?

Also I am sending an express package with my divorce decree in it tomorrow, should I send an amended I864 Pre-empting the checklist? Or wait for them to send the letter and barcoded cover sheet?

Hi everyone

I got a checklist for my divorce decree. I sent the original but they are claiming they don't have it. So frustrating. They are looking into it but I don't want to waste any more time. I am going to the law registry on Monday morning and sending a new original. This is the only thing they are waiting on to close my case.

What I need to know is what is the quickest way to send this document overnight. If I send it by ten am on Monday I would ideally like it to get to the USA by COB Monday (eastern time)

Please let me know which company you used (I'm in Melbourne) and how long it took and what was the cost.

Spoke to Riley She told me marriage certificate will get there ok without the barcoded coversheet so long as all the information was included in my hand written coversheet (which it was). I told her the divorce decree WAS the original and she checked some things and then logged a review because it appeared I sent what was needed. Has anyone experienced this? Is this going to significantly delay my case? Should I just get another original divorce decree and send it in ASAP?

I have since sent the original and it should get there in the next few days but I didnt put the barcoded cover sheet with it. I did write a cover letter with all our details including case number, will it still get to where it's going?

Also, I got a checklist for the original copy of my divorce decree, but I already sent that? What does this mean? They don't think it's original?

I am on hold to NVC now. So upset. Could have had case closed today!!!
