My wife arrived in the U.S. from Fiji when she was 9, but partly due to her irresponsible parents and partly due to the incompetent lawyers that her family got involved with during their immigration process, she had been illegal for over 20 years. Her parents went on to get their U.S. citizenship, however, my wife and her older brother were just left helpless. That's the reason why I say her parents were irresponsible. ICE finally caught up to my wife and her brother in June 2011, but were immediately released on Order of Supervision. ICE told her she needed to go back to Fiji by September 1st 2011 so she left the end of August. We have a 2 year old son who went with her while I stay here in the U.S. to support them until I can get them back. As of this writing we are currently in the NVC process.
