  1. My wife is going to be eligible for US Citizenship under the 3 year rule. I am trying to gather all the documents and fill out the forms. My question is what are the supporting documents needed. My understanding is we need marriage certificate, my naturilization certificate, tax trancripts for the last 3 years. Do we need all that kind of docuemnts that we submitted during removal of condition i.e. bank statement, credit card, medical insurance etc.?

Also the form states to reports 5 years of emplyment and school history, do we need to fill out stuff past 3 yers such as her employment in India before immigration?

Thanks in advance of any help

  2. Hi,

just over two weeks ago I entered the US on a CR1 visa at Chicago. I was wondering if anyone knows how long it will take for me to receive the welcome letter and the green card? Also does anyone know which number I can call to check to see if it has been posted?

    Thanks

    Dean

My wife also entered US two weeks ago on CR1 visa at Detroit Metro. She also has not received welcome letter or green card. I have heard it takes 4 weeks, however I am not sure how to track it. Once you have the welcome letter once can track with some tracking number listed on the welcome letter.

  3. Thank you for the updates Linux7 and Congraaaaats on recieving the most awaited moment of all this wait of recieving the visa! Wish you all the best in starting a new chapter of your life!!!!!! Did your wife get her tickets to fly here?

Thank you for the wishes. Yes we got a plane ticket, We had got it when we got the approval on the 8th. She is going to fly via KLM Delta as they came out to be the cheapest. Airfare has got very costly this year.

  4. I was wondering if they will ask for income tax clearance certificate when you are leaving India. I came to US as a child and at that time my parents had to have an income tax clearance certificate when exiting India. I know they ask for Police clearance when exiting and they gave us a hard time for that. Well all that was 15 years ago. I am wounding what document will my wife need when she is laving India?

  5. We just got this email for case completed ?? I thought only countries with e-filing got case completion emails.Whats weird is that our case has been completed since 15th of Oct 2012.

But we received this email today. Can it mean that they might be getting ready to assign us a Interview date ? :help:

It is strange that you received an email for case completion. It must be something new that they are trying to do. As far as interview goes, most likely they schedule in the first couple weeks of a month. So I think you should get an interview email early next month.

  6. Tycoon, what I heard from my Wife is that she was given her passport and a sealed packet. I am not sure if it was silver Or not but whatever packet they give you it has be sealed and can Only be opened at POE by immigration officer.

How long did it take for them to have your passport ready for pickup? I am thinking to buy ticket for my wife after she gets approval.

  7. Hi all!

How do I register my address on the above website?

When I select 'IV address registration', there is no K1 visa type. So what type should I choose?

    Thanks!

Maybe you can try to select non immigrant visa. I am not sure if K1 is classified as non immigrant visa or not.

  8. I agree US holidays doesnt matter once the embassy dispatches the passport.

I know couple of VJ members whose passports they have not received yet, interview was on 5th October, and today is the 4th working day for embassy. Lets see if they get any news today.

I also know one of my my friend who had filed for her brother and sister, their interview was on 9th October, they were given and option to pay Rs 300 and get the passport delivered at home, and they got the passport delivered on 11th October.

I hope I also get that option so once embassy dispatches the passport, the US olidays and saturdays will be fruitful. Fingers crossed.

When do you plan to book the ticket?

Yes you are right, but do you know how long does it take for consulate to dispatch the passport? My wife's interview is on the 8th and 9th is Friday, after that it is the weekend and holidays till the 15th. I was thinking to book the ticket for the 20th evening. But after reading a report of the Delhi Embassy not getting passport till now. I am a bit worried.

  9. Is it wise to buy a ticket for US for 20th November? Here are some details:

7th Nov -- Interview at mumbai

    8th Nov -- Working day

    9th Nov -- Working day

    10th Nov - Weekend

    11th Nov - Weekend

12th Nov - Veterans day holiday

    13th Nov - Diwali holiday

14th Nov - New year holiday

    15th Nov - Working day

    16th Nov - Working day

    17th Nov - Weekend

    18th Nov - Weekend

    19th Nov - Working day

    20th Nov - Working day

These are consulate holidays...considering some people got their passports with visa in 4-5 working days I should be getting it on 19th Nov. It will be delivered to Ahmedabad VFS by DHL, does DHL also has a holiday for Veterans day?

Can someone help me to understand which date I should be expecting my passport from Mumbai consulate to Ahmedabad VFS? Accordingly I can make my travel plans. Thanks everyone.

My wife's interview is on the day after yours. I also plan on buying a ticket for 20th of Nov. I will buy once I have been told by the consulate that the visa is approved. We should have the visa by then as holidays like Veterans is observed by consulate and not by DHL in India. Also If I am not mistake they also work on Saturdays. I hope this helps.

  10. Did you already get a transcript? Then that should suffice but if you have not then dont go for all those extra steps when they easily accept and approve a simple W2 and 1040 form for 2011.

I had ordered tax transcripts for AOS. And I have submitted the original transcripts to NVC along with my AOS. However I have made xerox of the entire AOS packet and sent to to my wife in India so that she can take it to the interview and show if needed.

  11. Cool.. hope to get it in 4-5 days. Getting ready for the interview, it's exciting!

You guys might know this already, but, they ask for petitioner's most recent Tax Return. So, make sure your

spouse has a copy. Also, no need to print out long list of chats/emails/calls for evidence? i think just few per month should be sufficient? They also ask for marriage photo album.

Those w/early Nov. dates- Please keep us posted and share useful info. thanks!

Do they need the tax return or will tax transcripts be fine?

  12. Hi Linux7... Congrrrrraaaaaatzzzz......

There is no confusions now.... make sure you have all documents with you. the only step extra to be done is the medical and once you get the report add it to your documents. Then you go to the consulate on the day of your interview but an hr prior because 30min before your interview time, officers will pull you from the loooooong waiting line into the vfs line where your originals submitted to NVC will be given back to you, medical and some other docs will be taken from you and you will get a token with which you will be referred to for the rest of the procedures (Fingerprint & interview) for that day to come out with a :D face.

Please read MandyBear's review posted on Sep 29th because their case followed the new consulate rules, it is very helpful.

Please feel free to correct me if their is any discrepancy in my thoughts because this is all new for me too, I share from my reading and understanding of fellow VJ members' and consulate website' postings.

    Thanks for the info.
