  1. My sister is filling AOS for a spouse visa ....she has submitted AOS fees and now she is going to submit AOS ... her income is not as per the poverty line so she is going to file AOS with parents as a joint sponsor..... i want to ask 3 question

1.. If she is going to file with parents as a joint sponsor as a household member she has to file I-864 and I-864a ..is it right?

2.. does her income will be added with parents income to meet the poverty line requirement or or my parents have to meet the poverty line with there income alone without adding my sister income eg - poverty line is $29000 , sister income is $15000 and parents (mom dad together with single tax return) income is 24000 for for meeting the poverty line we have to add sis and parents income i.e $15000 + 24000 =$39000 .. is this possible or not as none of them alone can meet the poverty line

3... parents (mom and dad) clear there tax return together and get a single w2s form ....... so please tell......she has to fill two different i-864a form for mom ad dad separately or is there any other form as on single I-864a we can fill details of one person (household sponsor)

Please guide with with these three questions i will be very thank full to all VJ members

    Thanks

    Hi SAM_LEO,

We had to do this since I am a Housewife living in India with my husband. Obviously I didn't meet the income poverty line. ;)

So, what my Lawyer did was have ME file a I-864.

My DAD also filed an I-864 as a JOINT Sponsor and because HE didn't meet the income level for 4 people in a household (because we would be living with them at first, he had to clear enough for him, my Mom and my husband and I), the Lawyer had my MOM file an I-864a (co-sponsor) on my DAD's I-864.

That brought the income up to meet the standards. My Dad filed Jointly with me and my Mom was a co-sponsor on my Dad's petition (I-864).

I hope this helps you. Let me know if you have any questions.

  2. how do I make that statement? do I include both i864 forms in the same packet I will send the nvc? ... & thank you so much for helping me I really miss my wife

You'll need to write a letter detailing your payments over the last few years and include copies of any pay-stubs or W-2's you have.

Just to be clear, you haven't atleast filed even if you didn't have to PAY taxes? Or did you make under the federal and state level to file?

  3. Hi All,

    Just a quick question...

My husband recently received his Immigration Visa Packet. We opened the silver packet shipping foil that contained his visa packet and Passport. His Immigrant Visa Packet in a manilla envelope was inside however....

It's got a diagonal cut along the bottom corner of the envelope, almost like someone cut a triangle out of the bottom of the envelope and THEN put his paperwork inside because his papers are sticking out of that corner, perfectly intact and not bent or crinkled. The cut looks "processed" and not intentional.

Anyone else get this for their Immigration Packet? Is this part of the new Mumbai VFS process since they no longer deliver to our homes and we have to go and pick them up?

    Thanks!

  4. Hi AugHem,

My husband just suggested, if your husband is working for an IT Company here, they usually have Agents that help with that for employees. He wouldn't need a reason other than his passport is nearing expiry and he needs to get it renewed. Have your husband check with his company's HR for the name of the Agent that they use.

    Good Luck!

  5. Hello Everyone,

In May 2012, my husband applied for his passport renewal in Pune Passport Office. His passport was originally from Chennai but he has been living in Pune for 4 years so he had to apply there. In August, they closed his application with out issuing his passport and no reason was given. They asked him to reapply. He reapplied in September and went to the passport office for an interview yesterday. They rejected his application saying that the documents are not sufficient. All documents he submitted were correct. Now we do not know what to do.

Does anyone know someone working in Pune passport office or good passport agent who can help us? NVC will not transfer the case to India and schedule the visa interview date until I submit a copy of his new passport. My husband has been waiting for his new passport since May.

Please provide some guidance and help. Thanks.

    Hi AugHem,

What documents are they saying that were not proper? If you can be specific about that point, we might be able to help you further without you having to get an agent involved.

You can do a google search for Passport Pune Agents and see if you can find someone who could help. I did a search and here is something I found. I don't know anything about them or their services though: Passport Helpline

Suleka and Just Dial would be a good resource as well for finding help.

However, if you would rather, there is a complaint section on the Pune Passport website. Have him try taking this route first.

He's going to need to physically go there and attempt to speak with the highest Officer possible to get this resolved quickly. Be sure to take every scrap or piece of proof available.

If all else fails and he's done everything in his power to get this taken care of or is not getting a response from anyone on how to resolve this, then tell him to (in person and with witnesses who are friends) ask the Passport Officer in charge if he would like for you to go to Pune Mirror to do yet another piece on the incompetence of the Passport Regional Office.

They were featured in the Pune Mirror this past month for slow and non-responsive issues. :bonk:

    Good Luck!

  8. Just got confirmation this morning that my husband's passport is at the pick up location and ready for us to retrieve it!

We'll go tomorrow morning and I'll update you guys on the procedure and whatnot once I get back!

YAY! Can't believe this day is FINALLY here!!

  9. Very relevant queries PGupta.... I tried calling the Mumbai, Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre using 26568000 (Ext: 8248) number because other numbers provided were not functioning and they asked me to call during day time between 10am to 3pm(IST). I called from here in US few minutes ago and it was too late so I might call them tonight to get more info on: if they accept interview letter print out or not and on what is their time frame for a normal case to be provided with medical report.

Now about the Indore medical report I think it would be best to contact vfs and ask them.

About how early medical can be done.... We can get it done anytime since we already got the interview date... your visa validity will be based off on the date of your medical. I read this somewhere online and not sure where, but if I get hold of this information I will post the link. I think its based on your vaccinations that is provided during the medical that one is good to go for the next 6months and so your visa to enter US is whithin that time frame.... So if you get medical done now ie; 2 months prior interview then your visa is valid for another 4 months from date of interview....this is just my understanding, someone please correct me if I am wrong.

These are my doubts too so I wish we get positive answers soon.

    Hey Guys!

    Just real quick here....

It took two days for all the Medical stuff to get wrapped up at the Lilavati Hospital. We drove up from Pune on the day of the medical appointment (you do need to make an appointment). The first day is for paperwork, blood work and x-rays and then the second day we had to return to get the finished reports along with a cursory "examination" by a Doctor and any vaccinations that were needed.

So, from our experience I can say that all you need is the printed out Interview Appointment packet. We got ours via email, so we just printed it off and took it in. They will stamp it so hold on to it.

Also, your visa is only good for the length of your vaccinations, depending on your medical report. From my research, the visa is good for (generally speaking) 6 months from the time of your vaccinations. Not from the time of your Interview. Not 100% on that, but 90% sure. We'll know for sure once my husband get's his Passport and Visa back. But, a friend on here, his wife got her medical done nearly two months previous to her Interview and her visa was only for 4 months.

    Hope this helps out some!!

    Good luck everyone!!

  10. Just thought I would share with you all that the new US Travel Docs registration is doing it's thing!

We are still waiting to receive his passport and Visa, however, he did get confirmation today that his passport has left the Embassy and is on it's way to the Pune location!!!

He also received an email verifying this and gave the address location of where it's going.

Unfortunately, they don't seem to be delivering to our home address and rather are sending it to a government location here in Pune that we will have to go to pick up his passport and Visa.

Good enough for me! I'm just glad to learn are registration for this new setup actually worked and that everything is on the right track!!

I'll keep you all updated when we get the Passport and if we had to go and pick it up or if it got delivered to our home.

  13. Anybody scheduled to have interview on/after 26 Sept 2012 at US Consualte, India?

There are changes in Courier fee payment and documents submission

Can anybody clarify and/or share there experience?

    Hi Daxesh,

My husband had his Mumbai Interview yesterday and was a part of this new VFS change. He got approved, you can read the whole history in our review. Essentials are: No fees as Passport/Visa are couried free of charge as long as address is in the Consulates Locale. Otherwise, will be shipped to a site close to your home address and which you select when you register on the Travel Documents page.

Also, just take all your documents, originals, medical report and supporting evidence with you on the day of the Interview. They take them on the same day now. It was fairly easy as per my husband, just a pain to lug all that on the day of.

    Good Luck!!!

  14. I guess I am spending too much time in VJ.com. Its like a drug now that I am so much into the discussions trying to find some info to ease my frustration.:( Is your family trying to get all the papers ready meanwhile? my hubby is getting his PCC done this week.

Looking forward for some info both on the Mumbai consulate visa process change and October interview scheduling by Monday. its going to be quite for the weekend I guess unless those who got their interviews these days decides to give some updates.

    Hi Capri-Scorp!

Here is my husband and my review for the Mumbai Consulate! He was a part of this new VFS process. His Interview was yesterday morning and he got approved!!! PHEW!

Good luck on your upcoming Interview!

  15. Hi All,

My husband's Interview at the Mumbai Consulate is next week.

Today I got an email from the Consulate informing me that they were closing early due to potential demonstrations and protests due to the film that is causing so much problems here.

My question is, has anyone ever had the Embassy or Consulate close on the day of their Interview and if so, how was your Interview re-scheduled?

    • Did you have to request the re-scheduling of your Interview?
    • Who did you contact for that?
    • Was it difficult?
    • Was it postponed for long?
    • How soon till you could get it re-scheduled?

I'm getting a little bit worried that the Consulate may close down on the day of our Interview.

  16. What do they mean by registration confirmation...did u get any confirmation?????

Nope, he never got an email from that site. The only "confirmation" I received was the PDF print out page with the bar-code at the end of the registration process.

    :hehe:

ALTHOUGH, my husband seems to remember that the actual full site changes WILL NOT go into effect until September 26th, so we may want to re-check that site on that day and be sure our information is correct!!

  17. Hi all,

Can someone please explain me the step by step process about the new changes that are going to take place from 26th Sep. The website is too confusing for me to understand. I know that earlier we had to get the medical done after the interview date was assigned and then give the needed documents and medical reports to VFS before few working days.

What does the new process looks liks, can someone help me to understand in lay man's language?

    Hi Kpatel!

I know the site is a bit overwhelming!

I found that you need to start at this location: http://www.ustraveld...entdelivery.asp

That's where you register for delivery of your passport and visa.

Other than when you give your documents (now on the day of your Interview and be sure to arrive 30 minutes earlier to give those documents to a onsite VFS Agent) the process remains the same. Get your meds done up front after receiving your Interview Date packet.

    Hope this helps!

    Mandy

  18. What do they mean by registration confirmation...did u get any confirmation?????

At the end of registering my husband for the address delivery, it gave me a PDF page with a barcode that I guess we have to print out and take with us. ::shrugs::

I checked his email and he hasn't received anything from that site yet.

Also, for everyone else: Be sure to check your consulate's guidelines for the Document situation with VFS at this address: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3742.html

  19. Hi Maggie,

Just an FYI since I couldn't find out where the Interview will be for you...if it's in Mumbai the process has changed and VFS is NOT accepting documents prior to the Interview date.

Now the new process is to bring all documents a half and hour before your Interview on the DAY of your Interview.

From what I can tell, this may be for Mumbai only but don't be surprised if they change it for any of the other's too. I would check with the Embassy first to find out or go to this website to be sure: https://www.vfs-usa.co.in/USIndia/index.html

Sorry Maggie, I gave you the wrong site address to check for changes in the VFS process. Go here instead: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3742.html

  20. There will also be a website for fee's if applicable and you will need to bring a print out receipt of payment as well.

    That website is: http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/ivfees.html

For this part of my post, please ignore. I misread the document and thought that they were setting up an online payment feature.

My mistake! We still pay at the Embassy at the time of the Interview, just be sure of the current exchange rate on the site I provided before you get your bank draft!

  21. Hello,,,

I have my interview on 1st oct and I haven't got my original appointment letter yet.??Give me Advice.I have to go for my medical on 2oth or 21st Sept. So,that I could submit my all documents to VFS before a week. And can I go for Medical with my e-mail.???Please share your views.!

  22. I agree, carrying tht load of all docs during the interview rather than concentrating on the interview we all will be stuck with handling documents carefully

and thanks for all the info dear friend.

Agreed Djay...there is already enough stress to contend with on that day...now people must worry if they have all their documents!

I know for us, my husband will be carrying over 150 pages of documents that include relationship evidence and a small folder of pictures. That's a lot to ask one to make sure of having on the same day they find out if they can move to be with their loved ones/family.

I'll be sure to keep you guys posted. Hope anyone else that comes on the 26th or 27th can give the rest of us some info!

  23. Did you try to create an account with this new website and update passport number and address detail? It is asking DS 160 confirmation number* which we, immigrant visa seeker do not have.

    Any Idea about this?

    Hi RnS,

Ok, so I went to the site and yeah...it's a little confusing. I played around till I found this location:

    http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/in-iv-documentdelivery.asp

THAT is where you would want to do your registration. It's not really that great as it asked for a Priority date which my husband does not have considering that he is IR-1 (they always get first priority) but it forced me to enter a date so I entered his Interview date!!!

It also doesn't go past like 1981 for the date selection of when his passport was issued. HUH? I had to type it in instead of doing the date selection drop down box.

Also, even though I entered an address for delivery of his documents, on the confirmation PDF page it still force showed an address in Pune which I assume is the VFS location for here???

It forced me to select that pre-entered address for pick up and the verbiage on that page said if no one was available at our home address, it would be sent to the address pre-entered. Ok...that's cool and all....

BUT WHY does it show I selected PICK UP for that address on the PDF page? I did not select for us to pick up his stuff...I put our home address in on the right screen! UGH! :bonk:

So yeah...already seeing problems with that page. I'm going to keep checking back...maybe by the 25th or 26th it will have been updated to allow changes to some of those pages. Like where to deliver our stuff to!!!!!!!!!!!!

I attached a screen shot of the PDF page they gave me after confirming the information.
