My wife today went to renew her drivers license at the DMV after the long wait she was told that they would not issue a driver's license with the I-797 Notice of Action which stated "Your alien card is extended one year - employment and travel authorized.

Has anyone had this issue? how do you prove that this extends her CR for one year? was pulling my hair out trying to explain that this letter extended the expired card for a year but just got a blank stare back....

i paid the AOS bill for my wife and step-son and only the step-son had a link for the I-864 cover sheet.. I thought that i would only need to fill out one i-864 form so i filled it out as my wife form but used my step-son's cover sheet.. I called NVC and they said that I would need two i-864 forms filled out one for my wife and one for my step-son who is 5 years old. is this correct? also i mailed the original tax transcript's can i use the copy i madeand resend the packages to the NVC referencing that the orignals are with my step-son i-864? what is the best way to fix this problem?

they are required... all you had to do is search in this website and see how many people did not get that and caused a delay... why did you ask for advice then send it anyway?

Caps = shouting..... so in the time you wrote your response to me about how I'm wrong you could have done a search and found out that it IS required...

Birth Certificates

All Honduran birth certificates must be originals issued by the "Registro Nacional de las Personas" (civil registry) in the long format known as the "forma literal." See sample of Birth Certificate (PDF 288KB).

I would suggest getting them now so when you do get the checklist you can send them asap...

make sure you get the correct birth certificate, marriage certificate .. is the ""Forma Literal" this is the rare one that is only text on special paper... very few people in Honduras use this " Forma Literal " and you might get the run around in sps... the special paper is rare and took me over a month to get it printed..

also on your step child the missionary might not be on the " Forma Literal " birth certificate ... that is something to check..

my wife ( beneficiary) in Honduras just started having major health issues... that can be cured with proper medical treatment but in Honduras they do not have the proper hospitals.. is very severe, life threatening.. she is on my medical insurance but they do not cover her in Honduras.. is this grounds for a expedite? if so what proof do I need to send to the uscis?

one thing I would do since you have to mail her the signed G-325A I would collect all the original documents and send them with photocopy's.. the first part is the i-130 you send only photocopy's ... the second step after the NOA2 they will ask for originals that is when you send the original and also a set of photocopy's..

I just got thru sending all the info for the i-130 and the first thing is to make sure you get the correct birth certificate.. is the ""Forma Literal" this is the rare one that is only text on special paper... my wife had to travel to were she was born to get it in that form.. is very important that all documents are in "Forma Literal".. including your marriage certificate. make sure everything is correct.. and that on your birth certificate shows you married.. that was the problem for my wife the normal everyday paperwork was correct but the official "Forma Literal" had many mistakes.. also right now there is a shortage of the special paper that the "Forma Literal" is printed on so make sure you go every day and bother them until they get the correct paper.. you can scan and email them to your wife.. however the G-325A needs to be signed by you and then you need to get the signed paperwork mailed to her.. the translations can be done there in Honduras or in the usa.. Since I did not know anyone to translate the paperwork I paid 25 dollars per page to have a professional translate the paperwork. you do not need a professional to translate the paperwork..immigration only requires people to be fluent to translate any document. I do not see a expiration date on the "Forma Literal" just make sure that whatever documents that you send are not expired.

thank you for having the courage to talk about your problems, to answer your last question how to tell your child... I have raised my 17 year old son alone since he was 6 month's old.. his mother abandoned him and I was left to pick up the pieces... it is so difficult to talk to your child about the other person ... but i was able to muddle thru it.. life is not perfect. i can tell that you are a very caring and thoughtful person. you will weather this storm, never give up on yourself.

I have always found the best prices on expedia.. sps is about 100-150 dollars cheaper than Tegucigalpa

a very nice bus is 50 dollars to sps or a cheap bus is 20 dollars to sps from Tegucigalpa.

This is my spouse first marriage, I did as you said and put the pictures in zip lock bags, great idea.

I do not have any other pictures besides the one's from the wedding and honeymoon. I will be traveling there in June so I will take more pictures to show a continuing relationship.

I see no reason that you could not get a passport for the child. If the child is a US citizen there will be no problem.

Neither USCIS nor the NVC ask for an apostille on any of the civil documents you provide. At the USCIS stage, you can even send a basic photocopy, while at NVC, you'll need to send an original or a certified copy.

I know that some embassies ask for documents with apostille but it's very rare, you should look up your embassy's information page.

Hello, just a quick note on this subject. Having a Honduras Marriage Certificate is only valid in Honduras unless the Certificate is "Apostille" after the Certificate is Apostille it will be a valid Marriage Certificate in the USA.

*An Apostille is an authentication of a public document issued pursuant to the 1961 Hague Convention abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents. The Convention provides for the simplified certification of public (including notarized) documents to be used in countries that have joined the convention. Under the Hague Convention, signatory countries have agreed to recognize public documents issued by other signatory countries if those public documents are authenticated by the attachment of an internationally recognized form of authentication known as an Apostille. The Apostille ensures that public documents issued in one signatory country will be recognized as valid in another signatory country.

Yes it is cutting it close. For the HIV test they just draw blood (I got mine the same day, my husband's godfather works at the hospital). But to get the marriage license, you have to ask for permission a week in advance and turn in some documents. Also, San Pedro is probably a busy place, might take longer for the paper work to get through. Of course, they will probably mention a small fee that you can pay to expedite the process (I would say expect $20-50). You would still have to make the request at least a day in advance.

side not FYI, to get married in Honduras you need to show proof that you have been tested for HIV. They didn't accept my results from US (NC), had to get it redone there (somehow it only took one day to get the results...)

I am flying into San Pedro Sula on a Friday morning and going to see the Doctor that day, the next day pick up the results and in the evening get married. Do you think this is cutting it too close? was it easy to have the HIV test done?

Going thru this process now. It can be confusing because in the USA we are not required to prove that we are single. However I read many different opinion's about this issue. I live in Missouri so I called the Missouri Department Bureau of Vital Records. They told me that they do issue this Single Status affidavit‏. I need to send them a letter with my name, birth date, City and State that I was born in, Race and my last divorce date. also to include a 15 dollar check. After I get this I have to send it to the Missouri Sectary of state to get the Apostille. Then I send that down to the place I am getting married (Honduras) were the document will be translated by a certified Government Translator.
