  1. I want to ask all of you to remember my son on Thursday. He is undergoing another major surgery and would appreciate any thoughts and prayers sent our way on this date.

    Mary

    HI Mary,

Your son is in our thoughts and prayers as well.

    Laney and Naseer

  2. Hey Danika,

Nas did the K-3, so the letters/packets may be different (??) His packet had a checklist and information on local doctors. The checklist noted his interview date at the top. We did not return anything prior to the interview.

Did Ali get a cover sheet/letter with his packet that listed all of the docs he needed (DS-230, DS-156, etc)? Have him scan that to you from the local net cafe. If the interview date is missing, definitely email the embassy asap - pakivinfo@state.gov - dont forget to use your ISL2006# in your subject line. (calling the Embassy is such an waste of time. If you get a human, they tend to ignore (eternal hold) or hang up on you :P )

All in all! this is great news! Hopefully he'll have an interview before year end. Does he have his passport?

Also - Omid and Cindishah both did K-1's, they probably have move knowledge on how the embassy in ISL handles the paperwork/interview date.

He's planning on going home immediately to get the police cert. from there - not to the embassy... he's just been phoning the embassy.

So is there anything he needs to submit PRIOR to being given an interview date???

They sent him his packet, but did not mention a date for an interview. I thought he needed to return a few items from the packet IMMEDIATELY, then he'd get a date for an interview. By the interview, he would need the complete packet of information with the police certs and medical, etc... or so I thought.

    Am I confused? (obviously I am :D )

  3. Hey Pugsly,

The only thing I needed was the Visa to get into Pakistan :D

We were married my 3rd day there, I did not have to show or prove anything to marry Nas.

    Laney

I would like to ask a question. Can anybody tell me what paperwork i would need (us citizen) to get married to a pakistani in pakistan? Do i need to go to the embassy in Pakistan to get that unmarried document? He goes to school in Russia now and when i visit we plan on going to Pakistan to get married. Then after couple years he will return to Pakistan to live so we could file then. Please any information would be appreciated. Also, when we get to Pakistan we would only have a couple weeks to do this. Is this possible?
  4. Oh my!!!!!!!!!!

Our K1 has been approved (NOA2)!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On Sept. 26th. I haven't gotten the mail yet, as I'm not yet home. Just found out checking our status. (How come I didn't get an e-mail notification? I have that option turned on...??)

I've been out guiding for a week and unable to check... and all that has happened this week. Ali posted his first posts. He's so sweet and thank you for responding to him Mary and Laney. I haven't gotten to speak with him really yet. I will later today with our good news.

Right now I'm off to the hospital, my uncle has had a massive stroke and is dying. So much happening right now. My heart is heavy and happy at the same time. wow...

I'll try and catch up on all that has happened while I was gone once things settle down with my family. We are very close so this is really hard. Send you thoughts this way if you're so inclined. Is it possible to be this sad and happy at the same time????

Hope all is well with everyone here. Sorry for my long absence - life has been incredibly crazy...

    -Danika :D:crying::unsure::(

Hey Danika - I'm really sorry about your uncle. It must be so hard to have such good news while you are going through this with your family. Our prayers are with you.

and can I say - WOW!!!:dance: Congrats on your rapid approval out in California! His file should be in ISL by Oct 15th(ish). It will be there before you know it, get that I-134 ready :)

Keep us up to date ...

  5. We actually got the green card on Yesterday - we were all smiles at the mail box.

Congratulations to you both  and now you can enjoy life for some time before you have to restart this processing for LOC (Lifting of Conditions).

    Mary

Thanks Mary! It's so weird not checking my portfolio every day! :P

Woohooo - 1 year and 9 months off.

  6. and the AOS package is off to Chicago insha'Allah  now the waiting begins again... i hope i did it all correctly...

have a great weekend everyone :star:

Congrats Omid! I hope it goes as smoothly, or even smoother than ours did. (Just 2 months in name checks - you could be approved at the interview) We actually got the green card on Yesterday - we were all smiles at the mail box.

  7. If I let my husband fill all of those forms out, we'd have about 25 RFE's just because his writing is terrible! [/b] [/color]

laney- you said it RIGHT HERE!

    you even laughed about it..

and once again....... his "writing" is terrible, not his english. can you just for once admit you misread something?

    thanks everyone i appreciate it

tommorow morning will be good news inshallah

wow, tomorrow already! good luck and can't wait to read how it goes.

    Laney

  8. If I let my husband fill all of those forms out, we'd have about 25 RFE's just because his writing is terrible!

I completed all that I could on fillable .pdf's - anything that needed his signature, I would email and have him review, print and return DHL. I tried a few different internet cafe's in ISL when I was there - their ADOBE was generally not up to par and would take 20 minutes to just open one doc - so I could not imagine my sweetie enduring that night mare.....

my husband can Fully READ and Understand English.

he filled it out by his own hands all 3 times.

At what point did I say he could not read or understand english? Of course he does, sometimes better than people who were born here. He's even pretty good at spelling....

I said his writing was terrible and his computer access s*cked. (kisses if you are reading this sweetie!)

Salam everyone. I know I've been gone a longggg time...but life has been busy and I have been reading up just not posting too much.

We're well...still waiting on the hubby's EAD...8 months and counting...USCIS will not respond to inquiries.

Finally our lawyer got through to someone, case pending extra security in Texas. Arghhh...scary stuff

I was told if this does not come through in a few more months (read 1 year!) we may need to file a mandamus action. I'm not sure how i feel about that yet.

Anyone who has been having EAD issues? Mandamus experience? Btw, we are also not being given a temporary work permit for undisclosed reasons.

I have no advice but just wanted to say how sorry I was! That is just terrible! My hubby was climbing the walls after just 4 months of being unemployed, I could not imagine what you 2 are going through :(

I hope you get an answer or an approval soon!

    L

Congrats on the new cars Laney and Mary!

Good luck to everyone else :luv:

    Hey Omid!

Sounds like you guys are moving right along! Let us know how is drive test goes. :P

    Congrats!

    Laney

Congrats on your Nikkah.. Shaidi Mubarak !!!

Mary & Laney Congrats on your new cars ...!!!

My brother applied for visit visa and he got it today.

I was not expecting that because he was permanent residence but left Pakistan 1996 for good anyway he is all set now and free to visit U.S when he wants.

Thanks! And Wow on your brother! I'll have to get one of Naseer's brothers to try. He could use a family visit. Congrats on the Visa!

  11. Re: K3 paperwork

Hafiz, has your hardcopy arrived at the embassy or just the electronic file.

In my case the electronic file arrived two weeks ago from NVC but according to ISL embassy they are waiting for the hardcopy before proceeding. Any idea how long this takes? Thanks

    nasir,

My husbands Electronic file arrived on Sept 12, the Physical file arrived on Sept 17, he had Packet 3 with the interview letter Sept 17th.

So you should have yours before you know it!

  12. in some unrelated good news. My father got his B1-B2 visa today. He was on Security clearance for about three months. The cool thing was it says on the visa that the security clearance was dont yesterday and the visa issued the same way..

That means that the embassy is pretty quick issuing the visa once the clearance is recieved..

one interesting thing was when he applied for the Visa through american express. It Said Donkey ordered. I think that Donkey was ordered in my K-3 case too. I wonder how long VIsas Donkey Mantis takes.

Thats cool about your Dad Ali, congrats!

  13. Laney,

Congrats on the new car for hubby. We had the same thing happen to us. We went and bought a car and they took both of our info then called us back to sign the paperwork. They said hubby could not have his social security number verified and that they had already financed it in my name. So in a few months we are going to apply for his own credit since he will have been here for a few months by then.

As far as the Urdu lessons I am trying to learn and he is being very patient. Weekly when we talk to the family they get so excited and start going so fast they are like she is learning some slowly teach her more. LOL We are trying and hopefully I will pick it up easier and faster in time. My southern tounge does not help and the family is always getting a kick out of my accent.

Everyone Else good luck and wishing you reunited with your loved ones soon. I am still checking in on everyone's progress.

    Mary

    Hey Mary,,,

What did Ishteaq think of the whole car buying process here ( not sure how different it is in Pak)? By the end of the day he was soo annoyed. He would ask me, "why dont they let us alone for 10 minutes?" - We ended up buying the jeep from a woman that could read Nas pretty well. She got us keys, prices and went away. :)

So how do they buy or finance cars in Pakistan? Naseer said you had to pre-order and you could only have up to a year to make payments. (or pay out right cash)

He was really set back by the truth in lending statement. I'll never have the heart to show him my mortgage truth in lending! :P

  14. I have often wondered through this process who in the world writes out these forms.

LOL. My husband got his packet this morning and was slightly disappointed that they simply crossed out K2 and wrote in K3. In his words, he was expecting some posh red, white and blue official looking papers......

Thats so funny! I expected the hubby to get a really cool official Embassy letter head interview notice also. Turned out to be off center, faded and printed via Dot Matrix - really something anyone could have produced.

  15. You are welcome!!

    so whats new everyone???

Hey, I got an off topic kinda post.

The hubby bought is first car last weekend. He's downright giddy :) Its a big ol gas eaten Jeep Cherokee, but he loves it. The bus was really starting to wear thin on him - can you blame him!?

At first they financed us together - a few days later they said we had to come back in and resign. It was odd, but we did. Turns out none of the creditors would touch him. They had to remove him and re-contract with just me. Something about they could not verify him, or his credit or his soc or some cr*p.

So we ran out an applied for a Macy's card! Hopefully that will give his credit a jump start.

Hey - on the whole learning Urdu thing, I really got to get in gear. I try to chat with the hubbys mom and sisters when they call, but its usually just a lot of laughs and "whats?" (they are all so sweet, they are all taking english classes for me)- I need to find an actual class room here in Denver that teaches Urdu! I am terrible at teaching myself via tapes and the internet - and the hubby has no teaching skills (love you, if your reading this :P ) - L
