  5. Ok, So I been reading this post or thread or whatever its called and its freaking me out, seriously. My mans from Pak of course, just sent in I-130 a month ago so Im just starting but I cant help but worry. My God, it seems like all the guys from Pak get AP! My husband applied for a visit visa twice before, got denied once, got Ap for like 8 months and then just denied...#######? Now I know they gonna put him on AP. He has a really common name and he lived in England for like 6 years; it seems like guys that travel alot n have common names get AP immediately. I swear to god, if we wait like 10 months or whatever just to get to our interview, n then they tell us we have AP, man, I'll die! 6 weeks my a*s!!! AP takes forever! Ok, so now someone shud say, don worry amanda u wont get AP n everything will be fine. Right? right???? ok maybe not :'(

welcome aboard.. good thing is you have everyone here at Visa Journey to commiserate with - it was about 9 months from Marriage to Port of entry for my husband. the waiting was super painful - here is where I tell you not to worry.. but he will most likely get A/P. Ive been on VJ for over 3 years and I dont remember any male pakistani being handed a visa at the interview. Good thing is you are taking the CR-1 route which means it takes longer, but he can immediately get to work and drive and all that fun stuff when he gets here. No waiting for months and months to get EAD and Green card (which can be very frustrating to strong men[and women for that matter]) Once he is here, you'll be so busy, you'll forget about all of the weekends and holidays without him. just talk every day and realize he is just as miserable as you . Be happy and loving each day with him.

there are some really good people on this board, post all your questions, concerns and progress - you'll get answers and support.

  6. not silly at all! It is the little things that get you through the a/p period. I'm sure I organized my closets, kitchen and basement 12 times while I waited ,,,, just to pass the time!

Guys I have some exciting news that i just cant hold in. No we didnt get the visa yet  but i upgraded the memory in my computer and it is working superb !!!! I cant believe what a difference it makes :P . I should have done it a long time ago :bonk: . Ok, just thought i would share it with u all cuz im excited about it. I know , Im silly.
  7. Hey Guys,

Does not really belong here, but this thread is where it all started for the hubby and I. I screamed when the email popped up on my screen. Nas thought I won the lottery.

Just under 3 years of my hubby being in the US, his 10 year green card was approved. Finally no more waiting (Until the N-400 in Sept :) )

Good luck to all who are waiting... soon you will be able to wait with your loved ones on the next steps.

  8. Hello! What is the # for ISL embassy and their email? Also DOS #?

    Hello,

Its been a really long time since I called DOS, so I'll let someone else supply that - but here is the Embassy information:

    http://islamabad.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas.html

    Immigrant Visa Unit

    Diplomatic Enclave, Ramna 5

    U.S. Embassy Islamabad

    Pakistan

    Phone: (+92-51) 208-2700

    M-F, 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM

    Fax: (+92-51) 282-2632

    E-mail: pakivinfo@state.gov

Good luck - getting someone live on the phone is a once in a life time event. :D I typically got hung up on in my visa days.

When sending emails, put the ISL Case # in the subject line and include the Case #, applicants name and date of birth with the question. But - be prepared for canned/scripted responses.

  9. Many Many Congratulations!! I hope your wifes flight and POE are smooth.

    Hello All,

I am soooooooooooooooooo glad to share that my wife was issued the CR1 visa on 8/1/08. She got a call from American Express today to pick up the visa. She picked up her passport and visa packet few hours ago. I never thought this day would ever come.

Thank you so much to everybody who has helped me through this journey and answered sometimes my nonsense questions. I would still help whoever I can, I may not visit VJ as often as I used to but don't hesitate to send me an email.

Aisha, hang in there, your day will come soon. Keep praying, I will pray for you guys as well.

    :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

    Hey Mary,

Im so sorry to see he will need a hearing aid. I hope everything else is going well.

    Laney

Thanks for asking, we have been running back and forth to the doctors. He is deaf now and we are going to have to go and get a hearing aid within the next few weeks. They are discussing more surgery but decided that it may cause more harm than good. I appreciate everyone's concern and above all their prayers.

I hope to see more approvals in this forum soon too.

  11. Oh my gosh Mary, what a dreadful ordeal for your son to have to go through. I can't imagine the pain he must be in. You guys are in our prayers.

Surgery update: My son was in surgery from 11:30 a.m. Friday until 4:30 p.m. and we had very bad news. The prior surgery did not take since his head was full of scar tissue and it was the worst infection that the doctor ever saw he informed me. The infection had eaten away more bone and they had to shave it down further so he is in alot of pain yet as of today. They did more bone grafts, donor tissue and rebuilt the ear drum, reinstalled the titanium inplant, etc. We are uncertain if he will have any hearing restored and will have to go back in two to three weeks for stitches to be removed. I will still have to limit my time on VJ and do come and read and check my pms but do not hang around to post like prior.

I will still continue to come and root all of you on and pray that you are all reunited soon with your loved ones.

    Mary

  12. As for me (old timers know about son) we got more bad news and two more surgeries are to be performed end of November. We got confirmation he is totally deaf in his left ear. This will be about his 15th and 16th surgery since 2002 so please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

    Mary

    Good Morning Mary,

I'm sorry to read your son has now totally lost all hearing in his left ear. I went through all the trauma of 1000's of ear infections and finally tubes before my son was 15 months old --- BUT I just cannot imagine so many surgeries.

Stay strong and you and your family are in our prayers.

    Laney and Naseer.
