  1. What are they for?

I don't know. They're just playing with numbers from the USCIS site like we do, and I guess this is how they found out about the RFEs. I am not sure if I am allowed to copy the post into here, but let's see:

I hereby name this day "RFE Day".

    Feb 1

    --------

    1 x approval 8/21

    Feb 2

    --------

    1 x approval 8/21

    Feb 6

    1 x approval 8/22

    Feb 8

    1 x approval 8/21

    2 x approval 8/22

    Feb 9

    --------

    2 x RFE 8/22

    Feb 14

    --------

    5 x approval 8/21

    6 x RFE 8/22

    1 x approval 8/22

    Feb 15

    3 x RFE 8/22

    Feb 21

    --------

    11 x RFE 8/22

    Feb 22

    1 x RFE 8/22

  2. But we can panic and pick apart our petitions way more than that might.

I think if you keep looking and looking, there will always be something minor that you find and that'll worry you about giving you an RFE. I've done that in the past, but have noticed that it just makes me feel even more nervous and stressed out about the process. Thus, I have decided to put away all the copies and just hope we won't get an RFE. And if we do... well, we can still worry about it then.

  3. Someone's fiancee passed her k1 Interview at her embassy and got her visa and package. She wasn't told exactly which port of entry to use when she enters the USA. She gotnumbers on her card but no port if entry. Does this mean she can use any US port of entry?

I have never heard of anyone being told by the embassy that they have to use a certain port of entry in the US?!? So yes, she can use any POE.

  4. Hello everyone! I have filed my NOA1 on 16February 2012 and I not received my NOA2 . Up until now, I still haven't received my NOA2 and it is almost 5 months. I have friends who have their petition approved in less than 2 months. Why is my NOA2 taking too long when others have a very short waiting time? I understand that processing petition is a case-to-case basis, but time difference is quite unreasonable compared to others? I missed my fiancé terribly and I think I have waited long enough already. Hope to hear from you…

VSC is stating they are working on Feb 06. The majority of February filers from VSC here on VJ has not received their NOA2 yet. Your friend's petition might have been an expedite due to serious hardships or military reasons. The normal processing time for Vermont (without an expedite) seems to be at 6-7 months now. I hope you will hear something soon!

  5. I'm a huge planner. There is always a plan in my head. I saw their timeline of 5 months and planned for it. So we set a tentative wedding date (though in my planners mind that was the only date that would do). However, looking at their progress in Vermont... I'm having a hard time not being able to have a plan in my head. It's been 11 months since I've seen my fiancé in person. For his birthday I bought him an iPod because it has FaceTime so for the first time this month, after 11 long months... I got to see his face. :D Makes the distance so much easier when you can see each others smile. This will all be over before we know it. But we are living in it now... We aren't over the hump yet... So its all still lame.

Me too! I am such a planner, and it is absolutely untolerable for me not to be in control of my own life. We haven't seen each other in more than eight months, and it is hard on us, but I agree with you - seeing each other's face (we do Skype several times a week) makes it a little more bearable.

As for the wedding date - Luckily the venue we want to use for our wedding is for free, so we just booked five different wedding dates (two for February, two for March, and one for May). Vermont Service Center is driving us crazy!

  6. I am monitoring 42 petitions which are close to mine - there are 2 RFE from August 20. It looks like they are working on March!

I am monitoring 10 petitions with a received date of March 6 (around my received date; I'd assume they're all NOA1 date March 08 like me). So far no movement. I'm sure I could find more petitions for that date, but honestly I am too busy to look through thousands of numbers right now.

  7. And CSC is approving June filers. Double sigh.

I have decided not to check Igor's List for CSC anymore. It just makes me frustrated. Yesterday I was on another (German) immigration forum and saw someone exclaim happily how they got their NOA2 within three months at CSC; it kind of ruined my whole day. Don't get me wrong, I am happy for those at CSC, but I feel very discouraged and treated unfairly by USCIS.

We're starting to get our paperwork together to get the congressman involved if we haven't heard anything by the beginning of September.

  8. You use I-134 for the K1 (I-864 is for AOS later on). You will be her main sponsor, so you need to fill out form I-134. If you are below the income requirement and can't make up for it with assets, someone else (e.g., your mother) will have to co-sponsor your fiancé. Though I am sure there will be more people who will comment on this, as I think there might be some specifics about the Manila embassy that I do not know about. Good luck and best wishes from Germany.

  9. I realize I am over prowling this thread.... obsess much?

But I thought I would share this to give us all a good laugh. Here's the updated processing times:

    https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do

Take a look at he I-129 Petition for A Nonimmigrant Worker: Athletes, artists, and entertainers & Extraordinary ability. 2 Weeks?? Are they kidding??? And we're waiting months???

My fiance has extraordinary ability..... does that count?

Wow! They're still stating 5 months for the K1?! I am at a loss of words. Yet on the other hand when you call them they say they're working on Jan. 16 petitions? Doesn't make sense to me. My fiancé will contact his congressman and Senator as soon as we're over the five months + 30 days mark since NOA1 on September 07.

  10. Wait a sec...

Just saw this when reading the article

Does that mean that they're not actually applying to CSC or VSC? Or that they just put their application in to Phoenix, Dallas or Chicago, and then it gets routed to the other service centres?

Yes, it seems so. I read somewhere on the USCIS website (I cannot find the link right now, sorry) that the four Service Centers in Vermont, Nebraska, Texas, and California will be working on those petitions. I'd assume that Phoenix, Dallas, and chicago are just lockboxes that'll bundle up the petitions and send them on to the Service Centers.

  11. I honestly don't think it makes much of a difference. We (applying for K1) are pretty much the first case you described, except for that I have been out of Germany on vacation. No complications whatsoever. Still we're stuck at Vermont Service Center, 5 months and going. Though I think what might make approvals slow down is administrative processing. Other than that, I don't think it makes much of a difference. As you said, it is mostly a matter of luck.

  12. Email response from CBP:

Thank you for contacting U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) INFO Center.

When you enter the US, you will be intending to have those suitcases on the flight with you.

You will only need to fill out the CBP 6059 B.

The CBP 3299 is not necessary in this case.

Thank you again for contacting the CBP Info Center.

    Sincerely,

    CBP INFO Center

If you have any other questions or would like clarification on this response, please feel free to contact us

either by calling our toll free number 877 CBP-5511 (227-5511) or if calling from outside the United States

our toll number 703-526-4200 and speak with a Public Information Officer. Our hours of operation are

Monday thru Friday from 8:30 AM-5:00 PM Eastern Time.

Thank you very much! That is what I had been wondering about as well (we're still waiting for NOA2, but no harm in planning ahead ;)). Just wondering how on earth I am supposed to put a list of all of my moving goods into that small section on the backside of the form... Would anyone know if it is sufficient to just write something like "Household Goods - Traveling On K1 Visa"?

  13. Has anyone from this thread received their NOA 2 yet? We filed Feb 29 and we're still waiting :(

We also filed on Feb. 29, and haven't heard anything yet. I'd assume it'll take them another one or two months, since it seems like they're processing early February petitions right now. One thing I have learned during this process is to be patient and have low expectations when dealing with government agencies.

Same as everyone else. I got my NOA1 on feb 6th... I am getting so down about the waiting and there's nothing I can do. In the back of my mind I start to worry if it will ever happen for us. Maybe they lost our paperwork? Why is it taking so long... What if something went wrong? My fiancé never wants to talk about it saying I need to be patient and it will happen when it happens, but I 'need' to talk about it because i feel super alone right now :( It feels like everyone from feb 6th or before has been approved and I can't figure out how to check it on VJ. I can only seem to see all the approvals but no percentages approved or unapproved. How do you even see that info?

Do you mean this little chart to the right of Igor's List? http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/monthly_filers.php?form=1&visa=1&scenter=2&option=3&sortby=2

We're all in the same boat! We all know what it is like to wait and feel like we're being left alone with all that we have to deal with. I just keep trying to tell myself that we have already made it this far; the longest wait is hopefully over. Just try to stay positive, even though I know it is hard sometimes. Good luck!

  14. 2. no - include 'accumulated to date' in 2012 in your math equation - then make a projection as IF the income is for 12 months.

for example - take a month's intake, say, March, for example, all income, before taxes are deducted (not what's on the paychecks)

then multiply by 12 (as there are 12 months in a year).

    THATs the 'current annual income'..

Ah, thanks for clearing that up! That would imply to me though that he could just use a month where he worked more hours (= made more money), and if we accumulated his annual income based on that one month, it would look considerably higher than it would actually be...? Would immigration really accept this?

  15. Hello all,

My fiancé and I are hoping to hear something back from USCIS within the next one or two months (hopefully, NOA2!) and would like to get started on the I-134 Affidavit of Support. However, after looking at the form, we have a couple of questions:

My fiancé (who is the US Citizen and petitioner) currently works three jobs:

    - as an employee at the local school bus barn as a school bus driver

    - at his dad's homebuilding business as an employee (doing administrative tasks, calculating costs, drawing floor plans, etc.)

    - at his dad's homebuilding business as a self-employed independent contractor (doing little odd jobs like mowing yards, hauling building material, etc.)

    1) Question #7 of form I-134 (asking for current income): There is only space to provide one single job ("I am employed as or engaged in the business of... with... at..."). Can we just add a suplementary sheet listing his other jobs and their income?

    2) We understand that for his self-employment, he needs to submit LAST YEAR'S tax transcript, whereas for his jobs as an employee, he should submit proof of his CURRENT income. Is that right?

    3) As for the current income part, my fiancé does not have an annual salary per se; he gets paid by the hour. We are not sure how to prove his current annual income since it depends on his hours worked, which vary over the months. Will pay stubs be enough to prove this (my idea is to take the first six pay stubs of this year and multiply the amount by two, and use that as his annual income)?

    4) If, after all those calculations, we figured out an annual income for his work as an employee - what if the income on his pay stubs differs from that on his employer's letter? Say, according to his employer's letter from the bus barn, he makes 15,000 dollars a year. In reality and according to his pay stubs, he makes well over 20,000 a year from the bus barn because he takes up additional field trips worth more than 5,000 dollars (which the bus barn won't put down on the employer's letter). What to do?

Sorry for all those complicated questions... We won't have any trouble meeting the minimum requirements, we're just trying to do it right. Thank you for your help in advance! :)

  16. Erm...closing or relocating would not be good, all cases would be put on hold or passed on to other service centres while they did that. VSC is slow, but have you seen TSC's 'average' time? I feel sorry for anyone there.

TSC does not process K1 petitions anymore (USCIS changed the process in 2010), only VSC and CSC do.

On another note, I wish all of you February filers good luck; hopefully we'll see some more approvals out of VSC soon! Me and my fiancé have just passed the five months mark and are hoping for news within the next one or two months.

  17. I have actually heard that CSC is larger than Vermont. Vermont seems to have around 800 employees, while CSC has approx. 1.100, according to this paper (which is from 2011, so keep in mind that figures might have changed):

    http://www.nafsa.org/uploadedFiles/CSC%20Stakeholder%20notes%2001262011.pdf

I assume that Vermont has slowed down because of the Temporary Protected Status cases they have to work on, particularly those for Syrian nationals. Vermont is the only Service Center that works on those TPS cases (with a few exceptions obviously):

    http://dashboard.uscis.gov/index.cfm?formtype=21&office=6&charttype=1

This is just my personal explanation for their slowdown though; nobody really knows what is going on there. There is no transparency in this process, and that makes it the hardest part.

I guess if they become too backlogged, they will have to send petitions to California in order to get caught up. Transfers like that happen all the time. All we can do is wait. Just hoping the DREAM act petitions that they will start to accept next week won't have too much of a negative impact on the processing times of us legal immigrants.
