  1. we received our notice of approval for permanent residency today. I-485 receipt date was 3/22/2013. notice date on approval letter is 9/25/2013, so it was just over a 6 month wait.

we did recieve a notice a month or so ago stating that our case qualified for a possible interview waiver. no RFE's, no interview, no problems. my wife Stephannye and i are celebrating her "welcome to the USA" notice now!

thank you again everyone here on visa journey for all your help, advice, and assistance. getting to this point without having to employ an attorney at any step of the way would have been impossible otherwise.

good luck to all out there!

  2. my wife called me at work yesterday to tell me that 2 immigration agents came to our apartment. they spent 25 minutes asking her questions then handed her the ASC appointment letter to have her biometrics taken in 3 weeks.

i found this strange since i just submitted her AOS and EAD documents 3 weeks ago. the notice date on these is 3/29/13, so they only logged it in a week ago.

i assumed it would take months to get to us, not a week. anyway, the sooner, the better.

anyone here have a similar experience with this matter?

  3. Hi,

Go to the USCIS webpage and there you can find what you need. Click on the link that says "Download Instructions for Form I-485"

    Hope this helps you

thank you for replying. i looked on the site you suggested. i think it says i should send it to Chicago. that's what i'll do. thanks again.

  4. i just completed the I-484, G325A, I-765, and I-864 forms. my wife and i were married on valentine's day. the 90 day window is up in 2 weeks. i want to send all these completed forms in, but i am getting confused as to where to send them. Chicago, Dallas, or the dreaded Vermont office?

i am submitting these forms all at once. i can't seem to find out which office i should send them all to.

if anyone can tell me, my new wife and i would greatly appreciate it. thank you.

  5. Just to inform you all i am in America now with my fiancee we getting ready for the wedding on Saturday

i just wanted to say that i had a rough time getting here from Nigeria first everyone that saw my visa was for America took something from me at the immigration

i paid money at every check point in Nigeria although every thing i had was legal and genuine this was my first time flying out i just did not want to play smart so i just let them have it

then i arrived at Atlanta and Their immigration officers gave me a had time i even missed my flight i spent 3 hours waiting while they were looking me up

    searched my bags

they took my email and password why was that?

dont worry i changed it later

well after 3 hours of waiting in a place they came gave me back my passport and let me go well it was a great experience

everyone is nice here and it felt realy good sleeping and waking up with my beautiful Angel

thanks to VJ members for all their help i will need more soon when we want to file for AOS and also i got a question when do i file for a work permit? can this be done before the wedding? or after? THANK YOU EVERYONE

congratulations on finally being together with the one you love. one day all the government officials worldwide will realize that love conquers all!!!!!!!!!

  6. My fiancee interviewed at the Saigon consulate successfully and is now awaiting receipt of her visa. She met a number of other Vietnamese applicants who doubted that she would be allowed to emigrate without an attorney. She told them that we got all the information we needed from the internet. Apparently they rolled their eyes, but of course Nguyet had the last laugh. Yay for VJ!

Question: I want to pay for Nguyet's flight once she gets her visa with my credit card. Is there an efficient way to do this? She won't need my credit card in Vietnam to board her flight like she would in the US, would she? Any other options?

those who suggested that you go to the airport and purchase your fiance's ticket there gave you sound advice. i bought a ticket for my fiance online, but then i was told i had to go to the airport and show my ID and the card that i paid for the ticket with or she would not be permitted to board the plane. i should have just went to the airport in the first place to buy the ticket.

congratulations and good luck to you and your fiance in the future.

  7. I included none of the above and was approved in 5 minutes (no RFE's either). They didn't ask to see any evidence of relationship either. I wasn't interviewed or RFE'd for AOS, or ROC. N-400 window opens in April.

none of the above or all of the above...it's up to each one of us how we go about preparing our submissions. and i am sure it makes a big difference what country we are dealing with. for example, if i was not present at the embassy interview, my fiance would have been automatically denied her visa. that's the US embassy's policy in the dominican republic. i doubt that's true worldwide.

my point is what's the harm in preparing everything up front? ...but then again, everyone is free to do whatever they want. just glad you, i, and everyone here that got approved can now be with the one they love.

  8. Hello VJ friends! My fiance and I are finally together here in Vienna to fulfill the requirement of seeing each other within 2 years. We are so happy to see each other again and spend New Year together. I have several questions on what to do next. Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.

    1. Can I file my K-1 FIANCE PETITION as soon as I arrive back in the US?

    2. Do I need to submit the Form I-134 or Affidavit of Support together with the K-1 fiance form?

    3. After submitting all the forms, what do we need to prepare for?

I would be so grateful to get helpful insights. Thank you for guiding me with this journey of petitioning my fiance.

i am no expert on all this, but i completed every form, compiled all supporting evidence, and submitted the application myself and got approved. my fiance is here with me now in the USA.

i took 3 months to prepare my original submission. i totally front-loaded it as they call it. i did include the I-134, receipts, copies of boarding passes, itineraries, and photos from my visits to see her. a copy of my engagement ring receipt, and so on. anything and everything even mentioned that might be necessary, i put it in there.

the embassy had my original submission at our interview and we were approved in 5 minutes.

i might have just gotten lucky, but we're talking about the rest of our future lives with these submissions. why not take your time now to do it completely and correctly. it seemed to me that the adjucator at the embassy appreciated having everything in front of him before we were called to the window, but that's just my observation.

    good luck

  9. I just want to share my whole experience regarding my petition especially to those who are still patiently waiting for the approval of their petition. First, of all I want to thank my VJ family especially my friends here who have shared their insights, advice and informative ideas on how to go about the I-129F petition. I am extremely happy that finally after almost 8 months of waiting for the approval of our petition, just today our case got approved!!! I have no experience about paperwork since the very beginning we started our paperwork. But thanks to my VJ family, a lot of good people here have helped us go about the whole process of K1 petition, without these good people it would be very impossible to complete our whole packet. My fiance and I never hired an attorney coz it is expensive. We did everything by ourselves with the guidance of my VJ friends. I really want to thank all of you. MILLION THANKS.

To those who are still waiting, let me share to you my experience. We all know that VSC is really slower than CSC right? So the waiting game is really so tough. Ive been through a lot of pains, struggles, frustrations and depression. I cried everyday after we passed the normal processing time which is 5.5 to 6 months as shown on the USCIS website. I almost gave up and I even argued and fought with my fiance, coz I always pushed him to call the USCIS to find out the case and he got tired too hearing different answers from customer reps and even tier2. We tried several times to file for a service request to tier 2, but unfortunately they didnt allow for some reasons. I think it depends on the tier 2 you speak with. So be patient enough to call the USCIS and be on hold for like 40-50 minutes to finally talk to a tier 2. Finally, after we passed the 7th month, my fiance called again the USCIS and was able to talk to a kind tier2. He put us on a service request after he asked few questions from my fiance and noted them down. Then he told him, that a letter will be sent to my fiance in a week or 2. On Dec. 30 my fiance got the hard copy of the letter from the USCIS, but I was surprised that the letter stated that our case is still under review and we have to wait for another 60 days! We were really shocked! What??? I asked some of friends' experience who also had their case put on service request, I was relieved when they told me that 60 days is just a generic answer. They added that hopefully this first week of January I will get an approval. To my surprise today, INDEED I GOT APPROVED!!!! Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was screaming and jumping lol coz I was extremely happy. I realized then that if we just leave everything to God, then it will come the least we expect!!! Good things come to those who wait patiently. So GOOD LUCK TO ALL THOSE WHO ARE STILL WAITING FOR THEIR APPROVAL. NEVER GIVE UP!!! INCREASE YOUR FAITH IN GOD and most of all DONT FORGET TO PRAY. GOD will always grant our desires because HE knows what our heart's desires are.

congratulations! it has been a long time, hasn't it? i waited 245 days for the VSC to approve my application. we had our interview 3 weeks ago and were approved. my fiance is here with me in the USA now and we are getting ready for our wedding.

God is with all of us. we fell the long wait was for a reason....and beside the reason that the VSC just takes their time doing their jobs up there. hopefully the long wait helped your relationship grow stronger as it did ours. a matter of months is nothing compared to "until death do you part" ...at least that's the way we see it.

    good luck in the future!

  10. I am from India and my fiance is from NY. we will be applying for K-1 visa soon. I want to know when should be the letter of intent to be submitted? will it be from my fiance side or from my side? and we are engaged since Aug,2011 should we mention about our engagement in the petition or keep it a secret so they don't consider our engagement as marriage? will our engagement proves make our case strong or weak?

in my original submission, i included letters of intent signed and dated by both myself and my fiance along with a copy of the engagement ring receipt.

at our interview 3 weeks ago, we were asked if we had our wedding and reception planned. we were approved, my fiance is here and we are getting ready for our wedding.

good luck to you and your fiance.

  11. my fiance will be flying into JFK next weekend. i am not sure where she will get the I-94 form...at the airport or on the plane, or does this needed to be downloaded and completed beforehand?

also, it has been suggested to me to "post a review" to detail how we made it through the approval process successfully. i would be happy to do so, but i don't know how. thanks

my fiance has arrived here in the USA. the I-94 was stamped, then stapled to her passport upon arrival at JFK airport. no problems whatsoever. welcome to the USA!!!

thank you again everyone for all your help. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  12. HEY,, SO I HAVE CALLED TODAY AND THEY TELL ME THE VISA BEEN ISSUE!!! YEIHHH!!! NOW HOW LONG FOR DOMEX TO GET IT?? ANYONE HAS AN IDEA BECAUSE I CALLED DOMEX AND THEY TOLD ME THEY SHOULD GET IT 1 TO 6 WEEKS.. THATS IS JUST CRAZY.. I TOLD THEM I WILL PICK IT UP AND THEY STILL SAID THAT IT TAKES THEM TO GET IT ABOUT 1 TO 6 WEEKS.. THIS CANT BE TRUE. ANYONE HAS ANY IDEA HOW LONG IT REALLY TAKES..??

i just got back from the dominican republic. we were approved for a visa on Dec 11th and were told the same thing....1-6 weeks for domex to deliver it. my fiance received her visa yesterday at her home in santo domingo..9 days after the interview. we checked the domex website every day by logging in our tracking number and also called domex to inquire if the visa had been picked up yet.

good luck to you. hope you don't have to wait much longer.

one day before my interview i went out i got 2 pen blue and black i decided i was gonna give out the blue one and use the black one for myself which i did seating at

the gate waiting for my appointment time to be called a man came to beg for money i gave him N200 before i did i prayed with the money for a sec so when my

interview time was called i went in with my document submitted my appointment letter and visa payment then i was give a paper to fill and a smal card i went tru

security twice got my number and waited for more than one hour before i was called i submitted everything they asked and the lady told me to wait for my number to be

    then the questions

congratulations!!! my fiance and i were approved 9 days ago, so we share your joy. good luck in the future!
