  1. Ahh I see, well this sucks for both of us! Yes I'm a born worrier too, and on the advice from another member on here I resubmitted all my Packet 3 paperwork today with a cover note for an interview as soon as possible (I have a wedding booked and would really like to make it). This is definitely harder because I can see the finish line and I'm being held up!! It's even more frustrating when you see timeline updates from the London consulate of other members who submitted their packet 3's and a week later they get their interview letter! Hope either one of us gets it soon! :)

I like that advice...and if we don't hear something soon, I'll suggest it to Dave. :D He did call the embassy yesterday and was told there's been no update and was given an e-mail address for updates. We forgot to send a cover letter with the ds-2001; he informed them of our wedding date in the e-mail...hope that works to speed things up too! I really hope you hear something soon! :)

  2. Thankfully it isn't just me then!! I sent all the packet 3 paperwork 4 weeks ago, called them today and they have still not updated the system! They said that it should take 2-4 weeks to update the system from when they receive the medical results. Had your fiancé already had his medical exam when he sent the DS2001?

Thank you for replying...it is frustrating waiting. :) He did have the medical way before we turned in the DS2001 but he was also waiting on more papers from his doctor (he has a chronic back issue). Its still been 5 weeks. Mostly I just wonder if things are in order...worrying we might've done something wrong... :)I'm a worrier.

Hopefully, we both hear something soon! Good luck! :D

  3. I have the same question as TamsynE. :) Dave sent his DS2001 to the embassy on April 18....and we're still waiting for him to receive an interview letter as well. Should we call? Or is this a normal time frame? He'd sent his Packet 3 into the embassy about 3 weeks prior to his DS2001. This part of the wait is a little harder, I think! :P

Thank you for your help. :)

  4. Kinda confused...Dave found out that we'd sent his subject access request to the wrong police department (he sent to where he thought the convictions were). He called the ACPO people and the customer service gave him the dates and convictions with a phone number, telling him this was enough. Has anyone heard of that?

  5. I thought I understood that he sent the packet 3 forms (DS-230I, DS-156, DS-156K, and DS-2001) to the embassy when he's completed them...then, later, he sends the DS-2001 when he has his medical and all the other documents, evidence that is required. Is that the right process? Thank you so much for your help...it is soooo comforting to know I can come here for answers. I've looked this part up and think I'm understanding it... just want to be sure. :)

  6. Hey :) Dave's heard from the embassy and he's filling out the forms. We just have a few more questions...every time we think we're set, we find more! lol

Ok...for the DS-156K, for question #5, does he need to send a birth certificate for his daughter, who is not coming or following? Also, does he need to send all of the documents listed below that question (his birth certificate, evidence of support, etc)? I thought he brought those things with him to the interview?

    Thank you! :)

  7. i think you need to get a subject access and take it from there as that should say what the "no live trace" is about and it should give you a date too. it can take up to 40 days to obtain but it seems that having applied for a police certificate can speed that up a lot... mine arrived after about 14 days.

He should be able to get that from the same agency he sent for the police certificate, shouldn't he?

  8. Hello :) We're kinda wondering/worried about something...we decided to try for the memorandum of convictions, rather than the subject access, for Dave's "no live trace" on the police certificate (its the document listed on the dept of state's listed of needed documents for the interview). We've hit a snag b/c the court that Dave went to doesn't exist anymore (it was a looooong time ago that he'd gotten into trouble, 30 years-ish). So he's written to the central courts, but they need specific information about the date and whether it was magistrate, county court. He doesn't remember and sent a note back, saying it could be within a couple of years (like 1982 or '83). Do you have any suggestions? I'm sorry I'm a lil rambly...just worried and we're really trying to have everything set to go when we need it. :P

    Thanks so much :)

  9. Hello :) the divorce decree with the note worked! Thank you so much for your help! We've received our NOA2 this week, hardcopy, and are anxiously anticipating hearing more news (good news!).

For the affidavit of support, I have the past 2 years W-2's and the tax papers I've filed with the IRS. I also have a letter from my employer. Are those papers enough proof or should I contact the IRS for more?

Thank you for your time :)

Oops..I just read further up the thread...lol! I have my answer, I think! Thanks!

  10. When I called USCIS, they recommended a paper from the courts stating UK doesn't have their judges sign the divorce decrees...so Dave is gonna get a red stamped form and the letter (we hope) and we're gonna try it the way others have had to here..the way the links have portrayed it. :)

I would think that an ABSOLUTE divorce decree would be signed by a coroner, not a judge. Just sayin'

    lol

  11. Thank you all so much. :) I wished I'd seen that these had been an issue before I sent our packet. We only have a photocopy of the original so Dave is going to contact the courts and get another sent, with the red stamp. This website and those of you who have gone through this have been such a TREMENDOUS help to me...thank you so much!

    Happy Valentine's Day!

  12. Hello :)

My English fiance and I received our first (and hopefully only) request for evidence this week. We sent in his divorce decree with our application but the RFE is asking for a divorce decree that is signed by a judge. Dave went to his county court and found out the divorce decree we sent is the absolute one and that there is no copy signed by a judge...they simply don't do it that way. Anyone come across this type of situation before and know what to do? Any suggestions?

    Thank you!
