  1. As long as you have consumated the marriage and have pictures of ruksathi you should be fine. However, you living in Pakistan for over 6 months, they might ask you for a domicile. There are others on here who will elaborate on this. Also, you are definitely allowed to accompany your husband to the interview, but please note that you being the USC spouse, will be asked most of the questions! Be prepared and don't get nervous, there is no requirement for you to know the joint sponsor's biography, he is your dad's friend and and that's good enough, although you should know his name and what he does. For the question what date to tell them of your marriage, did you do another nikkah after the telephonic one? If not, then obviously you will state the same date as of when you did the telephonic Nikkah!

Keep in mind that 99.9% of male applicants get AP after the interview, which is normal for Islamabad embassy. If all's ok, most AP will last around 3 months but this is the million dollar question, if not; then how many months or years!! Take care and all the best!!

  2. I was also in the same predicament at the time, But I opted not to go because there really is no need. If they dont ask you to be pressent there is no reason to be present. Unless you as an individual think it is imparative to be at the interview to possibly clear up some sort of complication or confusion with your case. Its really up to you! but in short to say CAN YOU BE AT THE INTERVIEW? the answer is YES.... but should you be there? I heard of a few horror stories of people who accompanied there spouce/fiance and they were put in AP. I did not go because my case was pretty simple and strait forward.

Couldn't agree more with sn530, and also they will do most of the questioning to the USC spouse and less to the applicant. However, it's still not all that bad and luck plays a major role as well. Good luck.

  3. For males from Pakistan being the applicant of IR1-CR1 visas, they will ask for Rukhsati and most probably Valima. But for female applicants only Rukhsati is important and since you have done your Baraat has taken place you should be fine. However if the CO specifically asks you if you have completed the rukhsati and you tell him yes and when in reality you haven't; then it would be lying and could be a problem.

  4. hi i would like to informe that i been in pakistan for all most 2month now and husband finally got the visa. they ask him to get new medical and ds230. he got his visa on the 01-04-2013.

Congrats!! I guess after the interview if the USC spouse/petitioner visits the applicant it does help with AP as long as the Embassy is aware or you inform them of the petitioner's visit to Pakistan. This is just an analytical Guess!

  5. you should request status update history from some one got visa recently this will help both of us as mine as also changing rapidly

Guys i recently got my visa, and the same thing happened, first the date of case update was Dec 14, then Dec 28 and on Dec 31st it changed to Issued! on 1st Jan got my Visa in hand!

So I guess the rapid change means actively working on your case which will hopefully result in visa issuance!

  6. Ok Everyone, I got approved!!! Thank you Allah!!

I gotta call from Amex today around 2pm to collect my passport. I didn't check my case online for a couple of days however when I did today it said "Issued" so basically my Interview was on Sep 14th 2012 got 221g RFE for rukhsati pics and new qualified joint sponsor, sent all requested docs on October 18th 2012 and got approved on Dec 31st 2012 got my passport on Jan 1st 2013! So an AP of 2 months and 13 days being a male Pakistani applicant.

  9. Well, we are officially out of AP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We got the visa today in hand!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you all for your support!!!!!!!!!!!! It took about 2 1/2 months for our internal AP at the embassy to clear! We were informed that our case remained at the embassy for investigation and never left Pakistan. Our congressman office made one call and I sent one email and called weekly. I am sure Allah alone was responsible for our short duration of AP. All of you still waiting will remain in our thoughts! We are praying for you daily!

Hey Funfetti..congrats mashAllah! just wondering if you were a male beneficiary? Once again..all the very best for future.
