  1. The I-864 states not to count anyone twice. Your husband is the one being sponsored. The box for the spouse is listed under 'those NOT sponsored in this affidavit'. You put a 0 there for spouse. The form can be used by those that have a spouse that is not the one being sponsored. That is not the case for you.

If he had all required vaccinations at the time of his K-1 medical and they were marked off on the DS-3025, then you do not need a civil surgeon and the I-693: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/335754-ds-3025-complete-or-not/page__p__4971318#entry4971318

On the I864, if there are 2 of you total, then put 2 on line H. He should have gotten an immunization copy from the physician. Copy that and sent it with the packet.

    Thank you!!

  2. Hi, its been a while i came on here. This site was very helpful during the K1 stage, it was a blessing to stumble on this website. We are in the AOS stage and I am stuck. We already completed the forms i-131,g-325,1-765,i-485. Now am confused on the i-864 and i-693. For the I-864, I am my Husband's sponsor, but the form says enter # for person sponsoring, then again enter for spouse if married. but it also says dont list a person twice. so what am i supposed to enter? Please those of you that have done this before how do i fill this out. I already looked for samples of completed forms. Also, for i-693, does this really have to be done if he saw an immigration MD in nigeria in September 2012?? What about the envelop they collected at the point of entry. I will greatly appreciate insight and response. We were hoping to mail off this packet this week. thank you

  3. Relax and enjoy each other for awhile. The next step is to get married within the 90 days. In most states (check yours) he will need a SSN to get a drivers license or state I.D., you can do this before or after you are married. Go to the SS office with his passport and I-94 and he can get a SSN. http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn After the marriage start adding him to everything you can--utility accounts, bank accounts, medical insurance, vehicle insurance, residential lease, etc.--this is for AOS. This is the next step after marriage, which there is no specific time line to do this, but recommend doing it as soon as you can. Start by reading the guides here.http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

Thats right!! trying to relax and enjoy this moment, thanks for your response

  4. Check his passport and check what stamp is in there. Hopefully it's NOT an I-551 stamp or CBP has made a mistake that you will probably have to go fix.

His Visa says K1(which it should be), the letter inserted on his passport says conditional green card and gives the instructions mentioned above hence the confusion. Will go through the steps mentioned by the other poster and go check with the immigration office

  5. He had a K-1 visa and got a letter telling him to apply for I-751?

I think it must be a mistake because form I-751 is for Removal of Conditions and you don't need that right now if he is a K-1 visa holder.

What he needs is Adjustment of Status first.

You guys need to get a marriage license and then get married as soon as possible. After that you can apply for Adjustment of Status and you will get a Conditional Green Card that is good for 2 years.

And then within the 90 days before your Conditional Green Card expires is when you will apply for I-751, Removal of Conditions. So right now you don't need to worry about I-751.

What you need is to get married and apply for his AOS.

  6. My fiance arrived yesterday!!! We were overwhelmed with emotions, still feels like a dream. Please I need advice on the next step!! I looked around at the guide on VJ, and have read previous comments, but am not sure how to go about the next step with regards to obtaining social security card, driver's license(esp. for california) et al. He also had a letter saying "you have been granted conditional permanent Residence Status, file for I-751 within 90days" did every one that went through K1 route get this at point of entry? thank you as i await your response

  7. I just want to use this forum to inform and encourage those with upcoming interview, just starting this race, that God will see you through. My Fiance had his interview at 7AM today, and he has been approved. He got to the embassy at 6AM, i didn't hear from him until 2PM(his time) He picks up his Visa next week. No lawyers, just Jesus!!! Thanks to all that read my post, answered my questions, for those that went through it and were willing to share so that novice like me could learn, Thank you. For those with upcoming date, May God Grant you favor, as long as you are in it for the right reasons, God will meet you at the point of your need. I will post a review, as soon as he his calm enough to give me the "gist." in the mean time, he said they didn't even ask for phone records, the actually gave him back the pictures i sent at the 1st stage. I mailed over 10Ib worth of data. Fedex was over $300. this has been a journey. Thank you all

  8. What was the process to get the interview date?

After getting the approval letter(sorry not sure what the linguals are on VJ), I called visa processing office, they said it takes 15 working days, so I called every monday. My fiance emailed lagos every monday also for 3wks. then lagos would always send an auto response and then send a personalized email 2 days letter that they dont have the case and ask what the LGS # was(we didnt have one then) on the 3rd monday, we got the LGS #, i then emailed lagos, then got an email 2 days latter still saying they are sorry it takes time that they didn't have our case yet, to check back. But i was randomly going through an email address i hardly use, then I noticed email from lagos with interview date and form attachments(Thank God I had to check that inbox). they later sent a 2nd reply to my last email with the same IV date and attachement. From the approval to notice of interview date it was almost 4wks

  9. 1. My cosponsor however checked the box "i do not intend" That's fine just means they are financially supporting you. Long as you are showing you have some means to take care of your fiance soon to be husband you should be fine. Like living with relatives.

    2. and included k1 for permanent residence on the form i-134, You mean the Petitioners address the co-sponsor put down as their address??

    3. The co-sponsor"s W2 enough? You need to be ordering the last 3 years transcripts for them and for you. It will only take about 8 days so you need to order now. They need to see complete filings for those years. Also your Co-sponsors Letter of employment stating their current salary, paystubs

Whether it will work or not i would gather depends on how well you show you will support your fiance'. If you are working (I gather you are under the poverty line) but you need to also have your paystubs, letter of employment. The government is more concerned about the beneficiary using means tested governmental monies. Thats a no no.

My co-sponsor is self employed, I already asked for his tax return, not sure what else to ask him for since he is self employed. As for me, I requested a letter from my employer, have 6 months pay stub and 2011 tax transcript. I am skeptical including "10 &"09 tax transcript because prior to 2010 I was a full time student and hardly made anything. That was why I decided to include a cosponsor. But I currently make above the line if we are only going off my current income. I just want to make sure am on the right track. I need to pray more and worry less. Thanks for your response

  10. Hi guys please i need help!! so I went ahead to get a cosponsor just to be safe and because we are dealing with lagos. My cosponsor however checked the box "i do not intend" and included k1 for permanent residence on the form i-134, on mine i didn't check any because I used the sample on visa journey. Please those of you who have gone through lagos will this work? also is the co-sponsor"s W2 enough? our interview is a month away, and i really need to fedex these items ASAP. thanks you, I await response.(please pardon me I am over thinking everything)

  11. You stated you make enough currently, but did not last year. If you made over $70k last year, then I am more than sure you made enough last year, unless your household size is quite large. http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf

What you made last year on your taxes is not your current annual income, unless you are self-employed.. but you mentioned an employer. What do you make right now? What is your current salary per hour or month? How much do you make now, not last tax season?

Hi, thanks for your time/response. I am making roughly the same income i had last year, I dont have any dependent. My concern is if the embassy looks for 3years income and I didn't work in 2009/2010, should i get a co-sponsor for back up. After all its Nigeria I am dealing with.

  12. Hi guys, I am hoping this post is going to the right place, it took me awhile to figure out where to post lol. I am preparing documents to send to my Fiance in Nigeria for his interview, I am now confused with the Affidavit of support. 1st -Am not sure if i need a co-sponsor, I earned enough$ this tax season, but in the past 2 years i did not, so do I need a co-sponsor? if yes, what exactly should my co-sponsor provide as proof to add to the form. Do i need to get a letter from the bank with total deposit for the past year, or is my tax transcript(3yrs)and letter from my employer ok? I just want to be prepared for Lagos and whatever they plan to throw at us. Thanks guys, looking forward to response
