  1. Hi N&A

Speaking from personal experience, I know they do accept co-sponsors. Go ahead and complete your I-134 and add that of your co-sponsor. Attach all the neccesary supporting documents. You may want to add your tax transcripts going back to the last year you had a full time job. You may also add a letter of appointment/employement letter that distinctly shows your salary and the type of position (full/part and temp/permanent). Also, I don't think your move will impact your K1 process untill she needs to do her biometrics here. You still have a whole five to seven months to get employed.

  2. Hi Ednell2008,

How do you know your application is in GH? We have been trying to figure things out for a while. One other couple's packet left the NVC on the 6ths and was in GH in about 2 days (based on timelines). Ours left the NVC on the 6th and is still not in GH!!! I thought these files were DHL'd?

  3. I sent my application packet to Texas.... Somewhere on the website I found that if you sent it to the Texas lockbox and your application was re-routed to Cali or Vermont, you are to still maintain your original destination....

If you look at the timelines, our profile never same up in the CSC timeline, but in the TSC one. These timelines cannot be changed manually.

YES, The app was sent to TCS but adjudicated in CSC

  4. Hi VJ'ers

So now my Jay and I are engaged and have started the K1 process, we are waiting on the higly ellusive NOA2. We have been trying to figure how things would work with getting married and all. I noticed someone posted something on catholic marriages so I figured, we'd hang all to dry.

I'm a USC by birth, however, my family moved back to GH. We intend to have a civil union in the US and a catholic wedding ceremony later in Ghana. Having lived in the US for about 10yrs now, and with Jay moving here, how do we co about pre-cana? Do we work with a priest here or there? Do we inform the priest before the civil union or after? What's the churches consideration on this scenario(pre-marital cohabiting, if in the eyes of the church, the catholic wedding is the real deal?

Hope some people can shed light!

    Thanks

  5. If you are looking for potential down sides to expediting..... you are in good company. I though of expediting due to certain circumstances myself but determined that on the grand scale of reasons to expedite, where did I stand i.e. was my reason considered genuine or was it one of the repeat issues. I decided to wait...... Im expecting my NOA2 any day now. Consider, ... Some adjudicator pulls your file to determine the validity of you app. He decides you dont deserve one.... He then decides to hold your app in a 'special' pile till he can return it.....or sets it aside waiting on your real date (and forgets it)..... I feel much safer leaving the file where it is and hoping it will be process on the traditional schedule. Theres nothing worse than the added anxiety of wondering how a denied expedition hurts your adjudication date!!!

  6. Hi all VJ'ers,

While my timeline shows I am still awaiting an NOA2, I am trying to anticipate issues for after Jay gets here.... If I am right, it will take a couple of months before he can work legally.

My question is, what can a person do before getting here to improve chances of getting employed? Does anyone have questions on having to get transcripts converted, take accreditation/certification exams, online courses etc.

2.For those who had the hard time of getting jobs here, what advice do you have for someone who has roughly 6-9mths to get here?

    We greately appreciate this.

  7. LadyBanks, I would be very careful on how to go about this. People are raising very good points. While the US doesn't care what you do when you are not in the states, little inconsistencies in your application will become a huge deal and you may end up getting denied for reasons that have nothing to do with your biggest concern.

You have several red flags.... You would need to disclose past employment and residential address among others, and if you attempt to conceal any information, you will have to cover it with something else ad infinitum. I think its best if he goes back to GH, stays for some time. The longer he's there, the better it would be.

In the early months, I noticed a few CBO etc available for consultation. This is not a process worth doing twice so take your time and do it right.

    Good luck

  8. I feel for you guys...... It is a long wait. Once you did everything right, just chill. Everyday you come back to VJ, you will notice theres another person 1 more day newer than you..... Think of advice you give them.

I submitted March 1 and look, June 1 is coming up so fast. The first month is torturous, the second gets better. By the third, you'll boycott the site a bit.......and based on where I am now, Im beginning to worry again... Could I still get an RFE, am I ready for what it means to get and NOA2?

From here on, Skype. Skype, Skype and skype. It will keep you grounded, maintain your sanity and gie you a few moments of bliss! As a couple who haven't cohabited with an S/O before, we discuss the big move, living together dealing with transistions and a lot of stuff that we hope will prepare us for 'the rest of our lives'. Talking fears, anxieties and hopes etc. etc. Try to learn 1 new thing about the next step of the process each week. AND...... Your relationship comes first. If you every catch yourselves talking to each other and the first questions out of someones mouth is "Have you been to VJ" or "Whats our new estimated date", you need a time out. I'm serious, there was a point where romance begins to look like a business deal!

Relax.....and don't forget: If everything goes well (my fingers are crossed for you), this is the beginning of the end of singlehood. Enjoy it...and maybe make a bucket list!!!!!

    CHEERS

  9. I submitted out I-129F this afternoon. I just logged our first step in today. I am anxious and excited. MM, We plan to have a court signing for legal.....if Jay is here by then. We wont get married.....customarily/church till January 2013 in Ghana.

    Chao

Thanks for your guidance and advice.Could you please let us know who can help in the co-sponsorship(relative or non relative) and the kind of documentation the co-sponsor should give.

  10. Hi everyone,

I just have to say VJ and every single person who has posted or answered a question is awsome. I almost considered hiring a lawyer!

    My questions is,

I graduated with my masters in Dec 2011. Prior to this, I was a full time student; I held a research position that paid a small stipend (Jan-April). I also had a grant to do research and write my thesis. This means I dont really have a true income for 2011.

I have been working full-time (and overtime) at a temp job since the beginning of 2012. With my base rate, I will be making about $18,720 (with the overtime, I'll make about $25,000). I live with family and don't pay rent.

Is 18,720 gross income enough to convince the embassy (of Ghana)?

How do I explain my scenario?
