  1. It took us about a week to get a notice to schedule then the next available appointment was about 16 days out after she was approved at the interview it took her 8 days to get her passport back with the visa in it. We emailed the consulate in Moscow and give them her information and that let us schedule a appointment faster. I cant remember what i had to include in the email because it was 4 years ago.

  2. Hi, I came to the US as a Visitor (B1/B2 visa) and got married to US Citizen after 5 month of stay. Then I applied for Adjustment of Status when my i-94 was almost expired (6-months-period was almost over). My USCIS case is still pending, waiting when they schedule the interview (I read it can take a few months). Right now I need to go back to my country to visit my mom (she has a heart problems), but I really concerned about using my EAD/AP card for traveling outside the US, since I overstayed B1/B2 non-immigration permitted stay, and also applied for AOS from NON-IMMIGRANT visa. Will I have problems with re-entering US? Is it better to wait for a GC?

Anybody have a similar situation/experience? I'll appreciate any help or advice. Thank you!

I am not positive but i believe you must wait until you have completed the adjustment of status and get your green card.

  3. Hello,

This is for the Russian couples that have gone through the K-1 visa process recently. I am wondering how long is it take to get the passport with visa in it after the interview is over? I know that every one is different. But if some people can share there time frames that would be great. I am just trying to estimate the time off work that I may need to take off work to go and support my fiancé at the interview and bring her home with me.

    Thank you.

My wife received hers in 9 days after the interview.

  4. Yes, I thought we should do some or all of these things. But my husband is certain we will be fine without it. He just can't imagine we can get RFE or denial, because we are obviously living together and we are obviously so much in love. But I spend much more time on VJ than he does, and from what people say, it seems that USCIS is more interested in financial evidence than any proof that we love each other...

But won't it look suspicious if we do all that in the last two weeks before the interview?

Also, I would really like to show at USCIS that we have the same address, but I can't get a driver's license because I don't drive. Is there any other way to prove we have the same address?

You can also go and get a state issued ID card from the state you live in if you don't drive, that will provide you with a legal document that has your address on it.

  5. I thought after you meet your partner, the USC can apply for K-1 but the partner doesnt have to be in USA for the process, and later needs to travel and marry the USC within 90days of arrival to the USA, AFTER granted the k-1 visa.

Can someone correct me if I am wrong?

You Are correct. But the K1 visa is a one time entry visa. So once she enters and marries here she can leave the USA but would not be allowed back in unless she waits to leave the USA Until she receives her Advance Parole or until she receives her Green Card

  6. I am was born in the US and have been corresponding with a Russian woman I met online for a year now (email everyday, Skype on weekend, phone calls etc.) We have met in person twice... The first was in Spain in 8/2012 and the second time in Switzerland 12/2012. We had planned for her to come to LA for two weeks next month, but she was just denied in Moscow 2 days ago ( her 2nd-last one was 20 years ago...) I had to pay for her trip to Moscow from her home town. Other than her visit to Moscow it was a waist on my end. I am a little frustrated because there is a decent population of Russians in LA, and THEY got in... She is 38 and single, has no kids, never married and owns her flat. We think it's futile to try another tourist Visa. She purposely did not mention our relationship or that she was coming to see me to avoid immediate refusal. She said she just always wanted to see LA and the attractions..We love each other and have discussed possibly marrying in the future but now must do so for her to ever come visit me. She has never been to the states, or met my two daughters, and we were hoping to have her come over a few times to visit first to adjust to the lifestyle first. It is too pricey and I have to take too much vacation time to keep meeting in other countries...We have already been discussing getting a K-1 down the road and we have all of the necessary requirements to qualify my dilemma hear is this : Since she was recently denied a tourist Visa to LA, if we apply for a K-1 in several months, will the Embassy feel like she lied on her last attempt and interview? All of a sudden she wants to marry a guy in LA after just being denied a visit there?

Also, all of "documentation of proof of relationship" is prior to her recent tourist visa denial. We have talked about starting our correspondence from scratch from the date after her rejection, visiting each other again, once or twice, then applying for the K-1 in 6-8 months... Any suggestions?

Also, if we ever do get married she would like to split time between countries, 3 months here, 3 months there in the beginning of the marriage. Partly to adjust (she has lived in Russia her whole life and it is scary for her) and partly because her mother is older and lives there. I know we will need to start the AOS process and if she leaves before she gets a green card or apllies for advanced parol, she will have to get a visa to come back in... I want to be with her and just want to show her my city and meet my family...

If you go the K1 route she can not leave the USA until she has advanced parole or her green card. She would be free to leave the USA but she would not be allowed back in. You would then need to applied for the marriage visa CR1 which takes as long as the K1. So my advise would be she needs to stay in the USA after you are married until she receives either advance parole or her green card which usually takes between 4 and 6 months.

My Now wife was denied a tourist visa also, So a month later we applied for the K1 Visa, she had no problems getting the K1, When she applied for her tourist visa she did not tell them she wanted to come here and visit me either and it was never brought up when she applied for her K1 and had her interview, so I think you will be fine.

  8. So my fiancee and I were looking over the https://cgifederal.secure.force.com website and to our surprise, when we went to pick a date for interview. It says none available.

Does anyone have an explaination for this?

    Thanks

Dont worry they add them very often, we had the same thing happen to us and we kept checking 2 and 3 times and day after a day about 14 opening showed up a few hours later. Keep checking 2 or 3 times a day.

  9. The more I am learning from comments of you all, the more I am thinking to restrict ourselves to the mainland or may be Hawaii. Off course, we are not trying to cook a trouble for ourselves. Even Hawaii sounds like a risk now.

    Thanks again!

Hawaii is not a risk me and my wife went there for our honeymoon before she had AP or her green card.

  10. I am very confused about these processing times... I was given a time frame of 2-4 months by my attorney, but the website indicates 6 months and the customer service line told me the California SC is 8 months behind!! I want to keep our wedding date as planned for August but im so scared he wont b home for that and everything i hear or see is so controversial... Im wondering and hoping to meet ppl on here that have had approved K-1 visa apps in the last year and can give me a time frame...

You were informed wrong by your attorney normal processing times are between 6-9 months. And by the looks of things nothing is normal right now but much longer/

  11. My Chinese wife has a former name, and has obtained a notary certificate showing the current name and former name. She also obtained a police certificate with no criminal record, but the certificate only shows her current name (even though her former name is on file). Does she need to have both former name and current name on the police certificate? The Public Notary office told her that the notary certificate showing her current name and former name should be enough, but I just wanted to see if anybody has similar experience. Thanks in advance.

All I can add is what we did. My wife was married before also so we obtained 2 police reports one in her maiden name and the other in her married name.

  12. Hi all, I have a question and I have been pondering this for a while now. When I originally submitted my packet, I had only included snap shots of my emails with my fiancee, as it would be three reams of paper plus if I sit to print them all, would that suffice or do I need to have each email printed out and chats printed out. I mean the snapshots have dates to them and I can highlight them and all. Being an environmentalist that I am, I tried to save paper and wastage by just doing that. Would that be an issue or no? I just have this question pop-up now as its been over 7 months since I filed and no RFEs but I am just in case planning for an RFE. Please help.

We did exactly the same and just took snap shots of some of them each week showing that we talked all the time. We did not receive a RFE for it. I think you should be fine

  13. Alright, called DOS and they said K1 DOES NOT pay the new Immigrant Fee...so thanks to the embassy once again for making me wonder and worry by sending me tht lovely note saying to pay it. (They did something similar at the interview and I worried for an hour that something was missing until the next person said, oh yeah you don't actually need that for K1...grrr)

Anyway....flights are full this weekend so I am leaving monday! YAY

    Congrates !!!!!!!!

  14. Hi Everyone,

I am getting ready for our interview for GC that will be on 27th of March.

I have collected a lot of papers showing our mutual assets and proof of living together : from lease to bills.

But we came up with one problem: our wedding was civil ( my parents are in Russia and his mom lives in Canada n due to medical condition couldn't come). So we went to the Justice of Peace and got married - he did gave us a present - nicely decorate and framed vowels that we wrote to each other + a hard copy of a some kind of ' certificate' of or marriage( the legal one we got in town hall later) . But we don't have pictures of a wedding - my friend told me that we def will get denied. We are happily married for 2 years already and it left me devastated. :crying:

I have A LOT OF proof of mutual and real marriage ( even post cards from numerous relatives from his side and my side on both of our names) but no pictures - i have pictures of him on my phone and he has pictures of me on his....

I am a little bit shocked and should i get ready for being denied?(((( I am really ready to cry

Did anyone had such an experience ?

We just didn't get a chance with all the stuff that happened to take a lot of pictures together, but we have e-mails to proof also that our love is real...

    Any experience without pictures?

    TIA

    A

You can only take what you have. I dont think i would be to worried about it. In our interview they didnt even look at any pictures. They asked a few questions went through all the forms and approved Ruzana's green card.

  15. So my girl calls me up about 3am NY time and is completely worried about us having met through a marriage broker...ie. Anastasia.com. She is reading stories on Ukraine and Russian forums where most girls are getting denied Visas due to being found on one of these sites. If anyone knows anything about these sites, your chances of finding a good, honest, quality girl is very slim. It is full of scammers, fake profiles, and girls who chat to make money for a living. Obviously the USCIS knows this. My girl said she would even sign a prenup to prove shes not in it for any money. Her and I are in love and I'll be making my 3rd trip to Ukraine in a few weeks. I wasn't worried about it but shes getting me worried now because it specifically ask on line #19 Please provide any information if you met through a marriage broker. I don't think this would be signaled out for nothing. She wants to not mention it but our Skype conversations are flooded with talking about it and I told her a sure fire way to get denied is to lie....just say we meet through a marriage broker, provide all the correct paperwork and keep our fingers crossed. She afraid we will get rejected on that basis alone and recommends getting married in Ukraine first. I told her by the time we can plan a wedding and I get back over to Ukraine, after this upcoming trip in a few weeks, it will prolong any sort of Visa because we will still have to wait 6-9 months. I'm suggesting we do the K1 Visa and see what happens. By the time of her interview I will have seen her 4 times over a week each time....I need some help in this from people who have met their girl through a marriage broker. I think only a few countries do this widespread...Ukraine and Russia being two of them. I need something to tell her to calm her down. Shes reading a percentage of 50% rejection rate on girls from marriage brokers....that's not good in my eyes. I told her that many factors can cause someone to get rejected such as income requirements, incorrect paperwork, not enough proof of relationship, maybe even ages of the the couple (ie, girl is 18 and man is 60+) I know the marriage brokers have a bad rep because girls only chat to make money and never have any intention of finding a foreign man. Its a billion dollar industry in Ukraine. So I need some recommendations before I submit this K1 next week...thanks

I met my wife on a similar site, she was from Russia we stated how we met and where we met, We filed for the K1 visa and had no problems. They never questioned it at all.

  16. Hi everyone again,

    how are you?

I have posted here before - i got a lot of answers which i am really thankful for=)

My concern now - i as approved for EAD on the 7th of February - "On February 7, 2013, your I765, APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION was approved. You will be notified of the decision by mail." - i was watching a lot of timelines here and some of people said that they got a paper letter first and than the actual card, but others were showing that it was approved and in 3 days they already got the actual card without any letter. So should i call USCIS and ask for IO and ask if the letter was mailed already? Or they will not provide me this info? Did anyone just got card without their timeline change on USCIS ?

I am really happy that i was approved just not patient enough for USCIS work-pace lol

    TIA

    A

Ruzana received hers about 2 days after the letter

  17. BTW forgot to ask what is a proof of marriage? what should i bring with us

One of the most critical items requested will be "evidence of the relationship" which proves that your marriage is true and faithful (i.e. photos, joint checking account, joint lease, joint mortgage, and birth certificates of children if any, etc.). Also, it is important to bring the current passport of the beneficiary to the interview.
