  1. Dear All,

if any one update me if english translated marriage certificate is sufficient or do I need to submit the local "URDU" marriage certificate along with english? please update me urgently as I need to mail it by tomorrow.

    Regards,

    SZ

I have no idea what you mean by "URDU" but if this English marriage certificate is a translated version of another marriage certificate, then you are going to need to send the original also.

  2. I gave thumbs up to everyone with the sex posts ... after reading his posts from yesterday I really thought he would be gone today. Not gonna happen I see.

To answer the OP question however, in case someone else with some common sense is interested too ... the fiance visa - K1 - Is approved for 1x only crossing the border, then to fulfil the visa requirements the persons listed on the petition have 90 days to marry. If there is no marriage within this time frame, the visa is nulled, and the beneficiary must leave the USA as they now have no legal status to stay.

Its always been my personal belief that if I, as the bene, came to any country with the intention of being with a person, if that person didnt want to be with me, or I found I didnt want to be with them, I would be on the first plane back to my country. I dont understand people who dont have this belief system, unless it was always their intention to use the person just to get a visa and get into the country. Which is sad, and pisses me off, because its those people who make the process take forever and puts extra costs on those of us who are in real loving committed relationships.

Agreed. I mean the OP just stated a few lines up that he has a wealthy family in his country and his "love" wants him to come to the US. So if she is not going to be with you, according to your posts, You should only be concerned with how to get home. I mean that seems logical if the only reason you are going is because your "love" wants you to come.

  3. Again, it depends on what capability your local military health care facility has. Mine has a full OB/GYN clinic and will not accept new patients. I work on a military base and just called our local tricare office in the base hospital, and they don't have a clue what you are talking about. They refer all new pregnancies to local OB/GYN clinics downtown, (even active duty military at the moment), and deliveries in the local civilian hospital.

I have to agree with DAVE. I am active military and my wife just got pregnant. She was given a referral off post. We plan to have a homebirth which tricare covers midwives that are on a approval list that they have.

Check with Tricare and the VA. Honestly, it changes so quickly I can't keep up with it. I gave birth in May and my g/f gave birth in August but between the time I had my first ultrasounds etc, the rules had changed for her.

So it's best to go straight to the source if in doubt especially with Tricare ... :star:

    TRUE!!! Call the tricare office!

  4. I wonder if my wife pregnancy could delay her coming into US? She is about 2 months. This process takes about 6 months? I heard of someone who wen to the interview and they told that someone, to wait until her child was born and than go back to get her visa. Is this the procedure?

First time I heard that one. My wife was one month pregnant when she went for her interview and notified the agent that she was in an attempt to get her paperwork faster and it worked out. She received her visa the same month as her interview.

  5. So IF we need to do medical, I have to go to the clinic on base, tell em I need to get medical done by a civil surgeon for immigration purposes and get a federal from them? I mean will they know what I'm talking about?

Cause you know when we first started for my k-1 everyone suggested talking to the JAG people and calling the military hotline, but they were even more confused than us.I wonder if medical guys are any better

I am sorry, I should have clarified. What I was saying is anything that Tricare is going to cover, unless it is an emergency, you need prior approval to go off base. Meaning you need a referral. You can't just go off post to a doctor and send the bill to tricare anymore. International SOS are more strict than the old company that held the Tricare contract.

  6. Steaming from a debate I had with my husband. In a hypothetical situation, medical needs to get redone for AOS and the petitioner is a tricare beneficiary , would tricare cover the cost of the medical ?

If I were you I would call you on post clinic. They have to issue a referral in order for tricare to cover the cost for anything unless its an emergency situation.. I just got mine done for my wife and we had to pay out of pocket.

  7. If your home station is still in Germany, she can do that from here, too, and get sworn in in Frankfurt. I just went throught the whole overseas naturalization process and was done in two months.

It would be great if she could do it while we are still in Germany, but she wants to wait till our son's paperwork come back so they can go through it together.

  8. More often than not the "automatic" thing doesn't work. Matter of fact, Deb+Steve is the first person I meet where it actually did work, lol.

So I take it, our wife didn't go to the to SSO and apply for one after a while  She could try going through the next military post and applying for her SSN there, it might just work for her. That's just a guess on my part, but I figure if you can apply for your newborn's SSN after the birth abroad, she might be able to apply for hers, too. Worth a try. Did you deploy from Germany?

Yeah we called the consulate and they told her to bring the documents in and they could process her ssc from there. So hopefully its taken care of now. Next would be her BBG and her N400 but we will wait till we pcs for that.

  9. Hey thanks for the response but we received approved email notification since night.

Thanks again. On to nvc now, we should be finished by then but hubby have extensive training coming up. I'm so happy for the approval. Thanks again.

Great!!! Congratulations. Now maybe they can focus on getting you guys completed before you guys are interrupted by deployment.

  10. hey guys,

i have a quick question, my hubby and i requested an expedite due to his upcoming deployment but it has been a month and we did fax over the document they asked for. do you know how long this process should take? a month seems to be a long time and we haven't heard anything about the expedite. i called the military helpline and they also said a month is a long time to not hear anything. Do you think we should request another expedite? We are currently at the 4 month mark. What do you guys think?

I apologize for your long wait. I tried the process you are in and I do not thing they see a pending deployment as a reason for expedite. I ended up doing mine on deployment. We took the passport photos before I left country and took care of the rest since I have been deployed minus the things we did while I was on r&r. Everything that needs to be done, the beneficiary can do alone. I guess thats the way they look at it. If I were you, I would double tap the expedite. I didn't. We just let it be.

  11. I received mine 2 days before my GC arrived in the mail. However, I do know of a few cases where it was missed and had to be applied for.

Yeah that is what's been bothering me. We got the welcome letter and called to inquire about the status of her ssc and was told she has not been issued and was not going to be issued one.

  12. Wifey has her temporary GC in hand and is waiting for her original one which is supposed to arrive in 30 days. POE has already been entered however she is back in Germany to help me move the family back once I return from deployment. We were told at the POE that her ssn would arrive inside 3 weeks. We called today(end of 3 week wait) and she has not even been issued a number yet. Has anyone ever received a ssn just by checking that little box on the ds-230 or did everyone have to apply for one once you made it to your final destination?

  13. Sometimes there are different circumstances surrounding the case. For example, I should have been notified of approval by now for my sons but I know that there is a question as to whether or not I am following the right process since one of my sons was adopted w/o following the 2 year legal custody rule. On the other hand, at the time i received my RFE for my wife, I was told by USCIS that it should have been an approved letter instead because all my paperwork was good.

  14. Yeah I probably just need to be a little more patient, I am a little worried because I ticked the box saying 'status as permanent resident' on the g-325a form instead of ticking 'other' and putting 1-130 but it's pretty obvious it's an 1-130 since we are both here in Ireland and we stated in the cover letter what we were applying for, I'm more worried the package was lost or something but I'm probably just paranoid, just hope I hear soon.

You and me both. My wife's visa is finished, now we jsut waiting for an update on our boys'. Good luck.

  15. Hey, well I am actually hoping for 3 months also, it probably would have been quicker if we could have applied directly to the embassey but USCIS changed the rules on that unfortunately, I am just worried now because like I was saying I sent off the I-130 two weeks ago and still haven't received any NOA1!

I doubt if it would have went any quicker because I turned the I-130 for my kids in on 1 Feb in person at the consulate and still no answer. Unless you get any RFE in the mail, everything is fine.

  16. Hey Paul, I am in pretty much exactly the same situation as yourself except I got married last September and both me and my wife want to live in the US asap, I am from Limerick and my wife is American. I hate that all the official forms seem to take it for granted that the American spouse is living in America, We just filled in my wife's grandparent's place as intended address, we will probably end up there for a couple of weeks anyway. We both want to move to California asap when we get over but it takes time to get sorted with a job/place etc. We just sent off the I-130 two weeks ago and still haven't heard anything back, I actually started a thread about that as I'm getting worried, here's hoping we both get through what looks like a long and overly complicated process! ps my own name is Anthony.

It took me about 3 months to get my I-130 approved. I was told from the beginning it would take that long. Standard wait time for Germany. What is the wait time like in Ireland?

  17. So you suggest putting a Japanese address on #18 "Address in the United States where your relative intends to live"? Surely I'm misinterpreting your advice.

This should 100% be an address in the U.S. unless you want to risk an RFE or USCIS questioning your intelligence as it couldn't be more clearly stated what info they want.

As to the OP, I would suggest using your parents address if you are trying to fly through the process and being honest and just put a city/state if you can afford a delay of a few weeks (which honestly might not happen...I have no idea if they would RFE that).

    Agreed.

  18. The OP's answers may or may not be the same on both forms. If not, the SS and GC's will be mailed to the address on the DS230 by separate government agencies that will not care what a USCIS office abroad told anybody.

Ok...Now I understand what you are saying..but,why would the answers be different. The OP said that they want to live in Cali, but still currently live in Ireland; therefore, they do not have an address for the DS-230 which has to be an address in the US of which they still do not have of their own. Initially I placed unknown on my I-130 and was told I had to place an address in there. I live in Germany and have no idea where I will be staying when I move in a few months.

  19. When I finally get my IR-1 my 1 year old son (a US citizen) will have a New Zealand passport but not a US Passport; he has a US citizen born abroad certificate.

My question to you is; will going to the US permanently be a hassle without a US passport?

    Thank you.

If the child has a US birth certificate, why not go ahead and get the passport? Dual-status citizens should always us the passport for the country they are entering.

  20. I get it but I expect that, in your case, the address on the I-130 and the address on the DS230 were the same. They need not be. I assure you, the Embassy abroad has nothing to say about where the green card is mailed. That's on USCIS, and they will go by the DS230.

You are correct. The addresses on the 230 and the 130 were the same. But they would be the same in the original poster's question also as they currently reside overseas and do not know where they will live at once they leave. They are trying to complete the process before they leave so they can leave together. I understand what you are saying about USCIS but that is where I filed and who gave me the information. USCIS Frankfurt.

  21. Unless you intend to live with her Mom, don't indicate you do. "Unknown" or "To Be Determined" are both acceptable answers, as applicable, when things are either unknown or yet to be determined. You mention the G325a but not any specific problem. I suggest you interpret the questions literally and simply answer them accurately.

When it comes time to provide an actual visa application, DS230, you'll want to indicate where you'll initially be staying and who lives there. It's OK if that's different from what was previously stated on the I-130. The answers on the petition do NOT determine where your SS and Green Cards are mailed.

Just completed filing in Germany and this is the info I was given. I placed unknown in the form initially and they said the form had to be redone. Also upon interview at the consulate I was also told that the GC was going to be sent to the stateside address that I placed on the I-130. Not providing hearsay but direct consular words.
