  1. How is your spouse adjusting to the American culture / way of life for those who brought their lovers here. My love comes next week on Friday and am just curious as to how it is working out for you all?

I assume after sometime the rice dinners start to minimize and more of a cuisine is acclamated.

Notice any struggles from your love?

    Was your love homesick?

How are you the petitioner / American dealing with the transition?

Just general info to start a discussion would be excellent in things you have noticed.

Hello, maybe i can speak for myself, it was a big decision for me, i left a high position in the govt office, a high paying job to come to the US just to be with my husband. We were married in the Philippines, a very simple one for my relatives there and they had a welcome party for us here.

Well, i lost 30 pounds after few months here in the states, thats true rice eater like us Filipinos will have to adjust with the american food, potatoes, bread, pasta etc. Sometimes we dont even have food to eat. Homesick yes, after few months most especially we had our first Christmas in the states and its not like in our country, the way we celebrate it. struggles, yes financially thats why

i have to look for a job,so that me and my son have something to eat.

she have to be strong and always be positive, you must be honest and tell her everything about you, as for me, i always hear my sister in law about my husbands past, i do feel insecured and tell my husband . . they have change since we arrived. reception was nice when we arrived here but since my husband has a family of his own now, his priorities is his family, we. side comments from my in laws about girls my husband had before . . they tend to compare us. but i believe every one is unique. My petitioner is very patient with all this nasty things i hear from his sister, he always tell me to be strong, and he loves me.

  2. I am not here to ask advices or anything..

Just want to share that my husband passed away this morning... peacefully... he had brain cancer and we have been fighting for more than a year now... there was a point in our fight that we thought we are winning... but we lost... i am just thankful that he passed away peacefully... in his sleep, and i got the chance to tell him everyday that i love him... and that he is my love, my life, my world, my home and my everything...

Whenever I read people here posting marriage not working out, just using me for greencard, giving up... and a lot of things... i am so sad...

I found the perfect husband... the perfect person... and yet he was taken away from me in such a short time...

I promise I will honor his name... i will honor our love... and I do not think I could love other person as much as I loved him... and still loving him... my love for him will not die until my last breath...

I am sorry to hear that . . be strong and my prayers for you and God's comfort . .

  3. Hello!!!! thats my experience too but i did not stop applying until tuesday night when we had dinner at wendys and i asked for application for employment they gave me right away, the next day i submitted my application but the manager said wait until i finished with my scheduled interview, so i waited but when its my turn. . she said after i said, good morning!!! i will hire you . . thats after she had seen my application form . . she said i usually give those who just arrived here the chance to have work . . thats nice of her . . so keep on applying theres nothing to lose . . God Bless

am a statistician and govt worker, takot sila at maagaw sila ng positin ganoon lang yun

  4. Some companies prefer to hire US citizens over green card holders.

Its normal, I guess, nothing illegal about it. My LPR hubby also encountered the same thing, and he has a 10-yr GC from his father's F2B petition.

  5. guys what can u say about delta airlines?is it safe to fly w/ delta airlines from the Philippines to the US?tnx guys

Yeah Delta airlines is the cheapest, we just arrived here last July 17 thru Delta airlines . . we took the 7:55am Manila to Narita japan with only 2 hours lay over, then Japan to San Francisco then we took a domestic flight to Detroit, Michigan . . we arrived on time . .

  6. My fiancee went to St Lukes for her medical yesterday and was referred to get a psychological evaluation because of her annulment with her ex. Does anyone here have similar experiences and how bad of a setback is this?

THERES NOTHING TO WORRY WITH THE PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION THE DOCTOR IS VERY NICE . . NO SETBACK ON YOU MEDICAL RESULT . . I HAVE GONE THRU WITH THIS PROCESS AND MY VISA IS APPROVED ALREADY WAITING FOE 2GO TO DELIVER MY PASSPORT .. GOD BLESS

  7. This might be a very stupid question but I'll ask anyway. My medical is coming up and I was wondering if there are any specifications on what to wear on the medical. I know you have to wear something smart casual on the interview as if you're coming in Dora job interview. Is it necessary to dress like that for the medical too? Or jeans and T short is fine?

no dress code just wear what's comfortable for you . .

  8. Hello!!

I just want to ask, what are the requirement do i have to get for my son's school record . . . i went to the school and all they are going to give me is his Good Moral Character, i have with me his report card. . can i ask the school authorities if i can hand carry his credentials when we leave for the U. S. . . thanks and GOd bless

the secretary gave me her personal email Address so i can contact her. .

  9. I just hate the idea of having to live without my wife for the next number of months just because of paperwork. We've only been married for 3 years and already have to go through this #######. It really sucks that Canada and the US just couldn't have a single travel initiative with the same criteria which would allow a person to become a permanent of Canada or the US,a nd if you were already a part of Canada, you could move to and fro as you like between Canada and the US. I kind of wish we were owned by the US. lol.

Just to let you know, I'm not saying this out of political ideal; merely out of the emotional want to be with my wife. I couldn't care less about the political corollaries of what I'm saying. I like America way better than Canada anyways. Way more amenities and convenience. Plus we're moving to the east coast, and I absolutely love the ocean. I miss my family, too. My dad lives in Southern Ontario and it's way cheaper and quicker for me to fly to Detroit than to fly from out west in Canada to Ontario.

I dunno. I just feel like life is going to suck without her.

    Any encouragement would help. :(

I feel your pain but the long wait will be over soon . . my husband left 2 days after our wedding and its almost a year now . . its painful and so stressful but that will be worth it and you get your approval and be in each others arms . . oh what a happy day will it be . . just stay strong and be prayerful . . God will make a way

  10. Ok. To make the long story short, here's my question: Is it really need to attend the CFO seminar? When is the best date to go, after the visa interview or before the interview? I am planning to go medical this last week of the month (what would be the best day for this?)Just curious, that is why I am asking this kind of query. I already read some thread regarding this matter, I already have birth cert, marriage cert, ID's, passport, and what else do I need to bring aside from that? Payment maybe. How about pictures? PLease share :)

    Thanks in advance.

Yes CFO seminar is needed. for medical 3 pieces 2X2 ID pictures, bring a copy of your NOA 2, you need your case number

  11. Marissa, relax, your husband is correct. You and your son are in the IR-1/IR-2 line. Your visa fees were paid through NVC. You do not need to pay any other visa fee(s).

NVC invoiced your husband, he paid the IV bill online, then you completed the DS-230 online, printed it out signed part 1 and that was part of your IV package.

K-1's pay the visa fee at BPI -- IR-1's pay the visa fee through NVC.

    Good luck with your interview.

Thank you so much for the timely reply . . and am grateful for all you help . . God Bless . . Marisse

  12. you don't need to pay BPI. If you have that receipt of payment from NVC that is what you need at the interview.

    I have read here http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2993.html#4

that if both the petitions (I-130 and I-129F) is approved and sent to NVC or the I-130 is approved before I-129F it is process as IR-1(CR-1) which the VISA FEE is paid thru NVC. But I might be wrong. I hope someone can help that went the same process as yours.

i am really confused . . anyway i am going to US embassy today and asked the people lining there if i need to pay but i will bring all my papers so if ever i can pay BPI if i need to . . i am so stress out . . thanks so much for the in puts . .

  13. if your husband has received a letter from NVC then you can call this number to follow up if your case is already in manila US EMBASSY MANILA Immigrant Visa (IV) inquiry line at <br style="color: rgb(28, 40, 55); font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px; background-color: rgb(250, 251, 253); ">(632) 301-2000, extension 5184 or 5185 ...and yes you`ll be notified by mail that they received it already and you are eligible to scheduled and have your medical already.

if you have a MNL case number assigned already then you can have your medical and call the embassy number. Ask them if your case is already in their system and if it is then you can pay the visa fee at BPI BANK...<br style="color: rgb(28, 40, 55); font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px; background-color: rgb(250, 251, 253); ">

    Yes its the same..

    GOOD-LUCK:-).

so i need to pay BPI even it says in my list of requirement that payment received at NVC ..my husband paid $230 at NVC and he says i dont need to pay again . .

  14. Good morning!!! i would just like to know if NVC visa fee and BPI payment are the same. . . my husband says NVC visa payment is as good as BPI payment. .. now i am confused . . i need some clarification on these before i go and pay my visa interview at BPI.
