  1. My wife and I are finally having our AOS interview next month; we are excited and nervous at the same time.

We are a little confused about what documents to bring; the check list (notice of action) asks for the following items but we are not sure if they are the same documents:

    1) Evidence of your sponsor's and/or co-sponsor's US citizenship or lawful permanent resident status.

    2) All documentation establishing your eligibility for lawful permanent resident status: what is this???

    3) Your spouse's birth certificate and your spouse's evidence of US citizenship or lawful Permanent resident status.

    4) Your petitioner's birth certificate and your petitioner's evidence of US citizenship or lawful Permanent resident status

    5) Letter from each current employer, verifying current rate of pay and average weekly hours. Does the letter need to have the hours per week???

Seems to me that items 1, 3 and 4 are asking for the same thing.

    Please advice

    Thanks

Thank you for the answers. I still not sure what is #2.

  2. Hi everyone,

I have been reading Visajourney.com for a whIle now and I always got my answers... But now, I feel pretty lost.

I'm a Swiss woman who got married to an American on Dec 11, 2012 on a K1 visa. I applied for SSN on Jan 30, 2013, my I-94 expired on Feb 25, 2013. I got denied for SSN because of my expired I-94. Which is strange, since I applied for the SSN almost 4 weeks before the I-94 expiration date.

So I thought, no problem, I still can apply for my AOS. I mailed my I-485 on Feb 25, 2013 and got the AOS that they received my documents on March 6, 2013.

Last week I received a letter from department of homeland security that I need to submit the tax returns for the most recent Tex year. We only sent the tax returns for 2011. Tax returns can only be submitted with a SSN, which I don't have. So, I went to IRS today to obtain a TIN number. Problem: they need approx. 12 to 18 weeks to finalize the taxes.... I called USCIS today and I unfortunately didn't get the answer I was looking for. All what the man told me, was that I must meet their request within the time. I'm afraid I won't be able to meet their requirements in time.

Can I just write the whole story to USCIS and they will give me more time or...?

Thank you for your answers and support. Not an easy day.....

    Britta

    Hi Britta,

If i'm not mistaken, they are asking for the Petitioner's Tax Return, not yours. I sent mine (i'm the petitioner) and had no problems.

  4. Hello i have a question about G-325a ,on that form i will have to fill it up with my new name?husband name?Thank you

    Robert&Andrea,

I have the same problem/confusion about which name to use, which name did you use? i noticed that the sample form G-325 used the married name at the top of form (line 1) and a different name (as single person) at the bottom of the form(last line). not sure why the difference

  5. Go to the SSA and apply for the SSN as long as there is at least 2 weeks left before the I-94 expires. If the I-94 is expired, you need to wait for the EAD or green card. http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn

If the DS-3025 has all required vaccinations marked off and is filled out correctly, you can skip the civil surgeon and I-693. See this post for details: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/335754-ds-3025-complete-or-not/page__p__4971318#entry4971318

Alien Registration number is the A# and will be located above the beneficiary's name on the NOA2 I-129F approval. All immigrants receive an A#. If you are a natural born USC, then you do not have one. See the example forms and guide: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

Also, this step by step guide by Vanessa&Tony might be helpful for you: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/235331-aos-ead-ap-from-k1-the-aussie-way-doc-list-included/

thank you for the information, very helpful. I have another question and this question has been asked many times unfortunatelly i still confuse. form G-325, what name to use??? i noticed that the sample form used the married name at the top of form (line 1) and at the bottom (last line) used the a different name (as single person). why the difference? pleace advice

  6. I agree with iwaiting the SSN unlocks the doors to many thing that you will try to do.

The vaccination transcript will have to be verified (copied onto a new form) and signed and then sealed by a civil surgeon so it can be sent in with your application.

you are right about the SS#. But does having the SS# on the forms makes any difference?

Another question: form I-864 ask for an "Alien Registration number", what is this number? for G325 ask for a "file number" what is this?

  7. You need to find another fiance with the the correct spelling as you have submitted in the I-129 form. just kidding!

    1. When did you discover the spelling was incorrect?

    2. Did your fiance not check her name before sending the file?

    3. Does your fiance spell her name different from her birth certificate? and is that what she has been using?

Can you tell us how differnt it is spelled?

    example> Kristin vs Kristen ?

How does her name show on other forms of Identification with pictures? is it spelled incorrectly or differnt from those Identifications such as the passport and Picture ID. You may need to contact the embassy and see if they have a process to correct the error.

None of her documents show the middle name exept for the birth certificate. her name is in cyrillic so she translated her name when we were completing all the documents. a good example for misspelling would be: Cyrillic and we wrote down Cyirillic. in our case we didn't include one letter

  8. I need some advice.

My fiancée just got her Birth Certificated translated and we realized that we misspelled her middle name in all the documents (129F Package).

We are getting ready to send package 3 to the embassy so an interwiew date can be given. The documents that we need to send are the "check list" and form "DS-230".

What should we do now? Should we try to correct all the documents or leave them as they are? Should we send form DS-230 corrected or with the name written as the other documents? If we send DS-230 corrected then what about the other documents? Any advice? Anyone with similar experience?

  9. My fiance finally received the package 3. Now we are gattering all the documents required for the interview in poland (fiance is from Belarus). does anybody know if the birth certificate needs to have an apostille? does enybody know if we suppost to receive a form to obtain the police certificate?

Also, my fiance received two packages the same day, apparently they are the same but not sure why she received two of the same. What is Package 4, what is included in this package?

    Thanks
